You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

The poster going on and on about Ireland’s plan as if they have secret info is nuts!

I totally believe that schools and colleges have no idea when we’re back because our principal couldn’t keep a secret if his life depended on it so everyone at my work would know by now if he did.

Asuitablecat · 06/05/2020 22:17

He's already got 'are you ovulation ?' 'is it
(Les Dawson face , ) The Change?' Now he can add :'what day are you due on?'

I can see that going well.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 22:19

Anyone watching BBC news right now? Segment about schools opening.
Every classroom they had showing social distancing was about 2 to 3 times the size of mine! Grin

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 22:24

Asuitable - surely it's only resting basal body temperature that is affected by the menstrual cycle? Once you get up and moving I thought it was undetectable?

phlebasconsidered · 06/05/2020 22:34

Whynot - it's not always accurate. My temp before mwnopause hit was always set at "nearly dead" due to having no thyroid, but now i'm perimenopausal I can go from nearly dead to burning up and back again 20 times an hour! I dress in layers and shed and pick them up as I traverse the classroom. There is always a child who knows where my scarf is.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 22:36

But does your actual measured temperature change? I thought it was just perception of temperature that changed with a hot flush? Is you feel hit but actually your body temperature is exactly the same just your body has activated cooling mechanism in error....?

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 22:37

Ie you feel hot. Ffs autocorrect I know what I want to type!!

Asuitablecat · 06/05/2020 22:46

Shall i.show him the thread and watch his head explode as he considers having to rewrite his policies?😂

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 22:54

I may be wrong, but yeah, go on - should be good for a giggle Grin

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 22:58

Ok I've googled. A hot flush does not change your core temperature
Women's temperature does change slightly during the cycle but not enough to be significant unless you are measuring the waking basal body temperature. Once you start getting going for the day it is not a significant difference

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 22:59

Grammar! Women's temperatures do change....

Piggywaspushed · 06/05/2020 23:00

Well, this has been an education!

So am I ill??

Asuitablecat · 06/05/2020 23:04

I'm not telling himGrin

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 23:08

Piggy - um yes I think so. My temperature never got above 37.8 when I had what I thought was Covid. Had 2 days where it hurt to breathe (like I'd breathed in icy air?) and was dizzy but never got a huge temperature. Didn't start coughing until.after a day or two of mild temperature as well

Asuitable - go on, I dare you Grin

WhyNotMe40 · 06/05/2020 23:12

Piggy - you could get a test? Have you been in school on rota recently?

phlebasconsidered · 06/05/2020 23:45

Why not - no mine is up and down like a yo yo! Clinically dead to in Hell.

pfrench · 06/05/2020 23:48

I'm only mid 40s, but HRT has saved my life.

phlebasconsidered · 07/05/2020 00:34

I can't take HRT as I take artifical hormones for other conditions and HRT reduces their uptake. It's a real pain in the arse. Because I need something!

echt · 07/05/2020 06:16

Yet another hateful thread in Chat.

Flower bombed.

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 06:52

Don't worry whynot, am fine. Was being facetious. I imagine measuring everyone's temperature often sends home perfectly healthy people.

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 06:53

When I was really ill (in the week the schools shut) I had no thermometer(believe it or not, HM Gov, not everyone does!) but I am pretty sure I was easily at about 39.

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 06:55

People hand wringing on other threads about disadvantaged children who they don't really give a stuff about should read this :

Piggywaspushed · 07/05/2020 07:05

Just look at who the OP is echt and ignore.

She has literally been on every teacher bashing thread so far spewing at us. She has a bee in her bonnet about the idea that one of us once said we would sign off with anxiety rather than return (which rather shows her true colours)

Do you know what I am realy fed up with? People like her claiming that you *never hear8 nurses complain about their job and never see memes on FB about how wonderful nirses are.

a) yes, you do, usually as an attempt to start a teacher bashing thread or to defend themselves in the latest NHS bash
b) yes, you fucking do. All. The. Time.

And I would add one of my FB friends is constantly posting stuff about her career (the police) and how tough and thankless it is. I agree with her. Why wouldn't I?

Anyway, that OP's third post said she didn't want it to be a teacher bash (LOL) and it isn't trending yet so let us just ignore. She is spoiling for a fight. She genuinely doesn't believe we work hard. Her prerogative.

littlerivers · 07/05/2020 07:33

I had this problem, I had a monthly voucher so did a meal plan for lunches and went shopping, it didn't work and the till woman pressed the button and said loudly that the free school meals voucher didn't work. I left my shopping at the till and walked out in tears. I'm recently bereaved and this was too much.

minisoksmakehardwork · 07/05/2020 07:41

(LSA here, just so you know I'm not the enemy lol).

I can't remember who said about testing to get staff back in school (the poster has a cough I think). I had a new, persistent cough and temperature last week. Booked the online test - DH is also a keywoker - which I had the following morning and results by text and email less than 24 hours later. Thankfully negative. No idea what it was as I was dog rough for a few days and am still shattered now but at least I will be safe for being in on my next rota day.
