Well, here we go!

Happy to do my bit but not exactly looking forward to tomorrow.

For anyone who is interested I'll report back here tomorrow with numbers of students, numbers of staff and generally how the day went in terms of activities and behaviour.

Good luck everyone!

I am on rota for Tuesday. The unknown logistics are stressing me out! Will update after Tuesday x

ReceptionTA · 22/03/2020 18:03

All staff have to go in- we will be given the rota tomorrow. A morning briefing was suggested Shock I will not be attending if there is. They can email me.

LynetteScavo · 22/03/2020 18:05

I sounded stroppy there! I'm quite happy to work with children, and SLT seem to think all children will be sitting at tables in the hall all day. That's not going to work for the little ones and I'm really going to have to fight corner.

starrynight19 · 22/03/2020 18:07

Are they really having a morning briefing wow 😮
Surely the information can be emailed.
Good luck everyone I am hoping after tomorrow things will be clearer for us all.

reefedsail · 22/03/2020 19:26

I wonder if there will be fewer children than expected after a weekend of social media pressure to keep them at home.

The County I live in has been posting strong messages on social media all weekend about school being a last resort and children needing to be kept home if humanly possible. The County I work in on the other hand, one post along the lines of 'don't worry, school is open for lots of you.' Confused

sd249 · 22/03/2020 19:34

We were meant to all staff be in tomorrow but got an e-mail this evening saying that due to us sending an email (as in please keep your 15/16 year old at home, we will not be doing lessons this is just babysitting) so many parents decided to keep students at home.

Only SLT in tomorrow and then a rota for the rest of the week once we know how many are in.

Sureitllbegrand · 22/03/2020 20:53

I'm going in tomorrow (voluntarily) as want to support head teacher and as Head of maths can print/find stuff if needed. We are on a rota and I'm not due in till next week. I will update on numbers tomorrow.

MoverOfPaper · 22/03/2020 20:58

Thank you. All of you.

I’m interested to know how it goes.

PhoneTwattery · 22/03/2020 21:03

Yes no briefing for us either. All students and staff to use alcohol gel on the way in. We’ve also sent emails again to deter non-essential students (for THEIR sake as well as ours).

I’ve got low numbers in for the first day in terms of pupils and staff. Parents seemed to have made alternative arrangements for this first day which I’m thankful for. Then numbers grow over the two weeks though to around 15%.

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 23/03/2020 06:11

A post doing rounds on Facebook aimed at teachers at moment is reminding them of importance of not wearing watches / Jewellery while at work. And as soon as you get in clothes that have been worn straight in washing machine and then shower. The clean all surfaces you might have touched coming in

exLtEveDallas · 23/03/2020 06:15

We were expecting 34. I sent a text out to their parents yesterday asking for confirmation if they will be in and we’ve already ‘lost’ 7, so that’s good.

DfE have sent out a message about recording and reporting attendees, so that will be my first job. Then it will be chasing the vulnerable kids if they are not in. I’m hoping for a quieter time than last week - might even get some work done!

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 23/03/2020 06:20

I'm in today. I have no clue of numbers or rota so going in blind. I've never felt so stressed, go to sleep and wake up with a constant knot in stomach. I'm responsible for all online work for my department as my HOD is self isolating. I've been acting HOD for a week now and just hope I've done everything well.

HelenaJustina · 23/03/2020 06:29

I’m SLT and will be in for 7.15 to provide early morning cover for shift workers (misty medics)... it’s going to be weird.

Iwanttoseethesea · 23/03/2020 06:32

I've got 28 in - mixed year 1 and 2. Everything we're doing today has been planned but still feels very strange. Think we'll have a few upset children when they realise their friends aren't in today .

Nix32 · 23/03/2020 06:41

I've got 6 out of 120 reception and y1. Planning to be outside as much as possible.

hen10 · 23/03/2020 07:05

Checking in, shall see how many we get this morning. Trying to think of interesting tasks/games that primary children can do more than 2m away from anyone!

LooseGoose29 · 23/03/2020 07:12

I'm not in until tomorrow according to rota. DH has gone to his school today. I am hoping his head will rota him in for days I am off so our kids can stay at home. Other than that I feel ok about everything, our school has a strong team and about 40 kids coming in as far as we know. We are planning a lot of outside time fingers crossed the weather holds

poshme · 23/03/2020 07:18

THANK YOU.

rainydogday · 23/03/2020 07:24

Thank you to all you teaching staff. I have been really worried about sending mine in. (frontline nhs x2) only going to if absolutely have to. On other threads some teachers are very angry about these dirty/dangerous kids of frontline nhs staff. I hope they make them feel welcome and look after them in the same loving caring way that I have looked after CV patients. It's scary for all of us, especially the kids. X

ValancyRedfern · 23/03/2020 07:27

No idea what's happening at my school today. No information at all other than we're all expected in if not self-isolating. Very strange feeling.

Chocadoddledoo · 23/03/2020 07:29

I'm in for a meeting this morning. Feeling anxious.A rota system has been suggested with staff being available as back up should other staff members need to self isolate. Hoping that parents don't see it as being a free baby sitting service.
Stay safe everyone.

IHeartKingThistle · 23/03/2020 07:51

I'm in tomorrow. We're expecting 60 out of 700. Each kid has been given a workstation with a computer and a box of equipment, well spaced from each other. They will be doing the same work the other kids are doing at home. We do have a few coming in with significant issues though including mental health issues so we'll just have to see how it goes.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 23/03/2020 11:18

There were around 8/250 at Dds school when I dropped her off and we have 6/1200! I'm not required to do anything with them until 1pm so have just helped label envelopes and clear up my classroom before I lose access to it tomorrow.

Cathpot · 23/03/2020 11:23

I’m in - just collecting bits I’m going to need at home. The meeting for our dept is cancelled my HOD is in the building but will be communicating by email . I’ve yet to see a child and we were supposed to have 100. No instructions yet on work I think that should arrive this afternoon.
