Well, here we go!

Happy to do my bit but not exactly looking forward to tomorrow.

For anyone who is interested I'll report back here tomorrow with numbers of students, numbers of staff and generally how the day went in terms of activities and behaviour.

Good luck everyone!

We are not asking any teacher or TA to come in if that means their own children would have to go to another school for childcare. That’s just silly if that’s happening (unless they parent works in a specialist role like in a special school of course or their school has no one else available).

Our school is letting staff bring their kids in but they have to be responsible for supervising them at all times and they can’t mix with our students.

How can they supervise their own children while also supervising the pupils, if the 2 cant mix?

IHeartKingThistle · 25/03/2020 16:32

Yep, numbers dwindling for us too. I was supposed to be in all week but did today and have been taken off the rota for the rest of the week.

I have been in school supervising key workers children. Interesting take on the word key worker. It is all our business when people do not STAY AT HOME because their needs are more important than protecting the NHS. My own primary aged children were looked after by my husband so as not ti inconvenience my primary school. Bit fed up

We had 9 in today - all very vulnerable children.

PE - setting work such as students watching games and analysing moves, theory work for the GCSE PE students such as the impact on the body, the science behind the PE and so on - training at altitude, the impact of warm up/cool down.

Some of our staff (volunteers) are running errands for vulnerable staff and students families. Getting basic groceries, medication etc for those who can't leave home. Others are checking in on the vulnerable / isolated staff to have a chat if they want particularly if they are home alone and the same with our most vulnerable children, particularly those who are young carers.

On day 1 they worked in the office making phonecalls. Day 2 and 3 and we only have 1 student. No staff with children needed.

Don't click on that link. Something went wrong when I tried posting a link to a video that was posted on our staff WhatsApp group.

Can I just say thank you and well done to those of you who are still going in to look after vulnerable children?
At my school, staff are working on a rota to go in - I'm not on it because I have a vulnerable household, so I'm working from home.
Whilst I know it's the right thing for me, I do feel terribly bad about those that are still going in, so Thanks to you all.
