Buckingham Palace have said they won't be commenting further on the book. But I expect plenty of others will be and it's not even published yet so I started this second thread. I really liked Diana and thought she got treated shabbily by Charles. But really writing a book of gripes 30 years later is not on imho. I noticed on the news Harry declined to comment on it. Sensible decision for once.

It was KC who was very vocal to the Queen that Diana have a state funeral. She wasn’t strictly entitled to one. They were divorced and Diana would have likely remarried at some point and doubtless Charles would have gone on to marry Camilla.

Don’t know if this has already been said but Diana’s family weren’t very good to her. Her sisters, father and mother all knew what she was letting herself in for when they allowed her to marry Charles. They were all for it.

I call my mother (not to her face) a lot of things and I can assure you I am right. Diana was mentally unwell, what's wrong with saying that? What an odd take that someone who lived with her, who was her child didn't know her and you, some random on the internet (as I am also) gets to tell her son he should be ashamed.

The Diana memorial at althorp was paid for by the Spencer family.

He's entitled to discuss his mother and his experiences with her however he likes. He knew her, you didn't.

My dad was buried in a plot with other family members. I coped with the funeral but when I left the cemetery I r remember being overcome with a sense of betrayal - we’d left him out there in the cold ground when he should have been at home with us. Of course this is daft but you just don’t know how you’re going to react until the moment.

Leaving aside all the shit they’ve pulled, the lies, the reputational damage they have caused to the RF and the UK, they chose not to be working royals, they chose to move abroad on their freedom flight, they chose to be financially independent (apart from Charles bankrolling them for a year which of course Harry then lied about), and now they have chosen to return “as private citizens”. In what way has Harry been abandoned by his family?

How can you say that? It’s shockingly callous. Why this cruel attitude to William - he was Diana’s son too, and bore the burden of her emotional state far more than the younger Harry.

In fact, I would have thought William’s witness is one of the most valuable and useful in understanding D’s emotional state in her last years. His comments should be respected.

I hope you counted your spoons afterwards. I never believed the Queen’s electric-fire anecdote that she sat there shivering but was apparently too mean to have another bar on. And then there was the £37 million Windsor Castle fire restoration, with the costs ultimately covered through public funding mechanisms. Good old muggins here had already paid the bill and funnily enough I pay for house insurance every year. More fool me !

And now, if the rumours about abandoning Buckingham Palace turn out to be true, apparently the ticket money from opening it to the public would go to the taxpayer. Well, we certainly want that after all, it’s our money in the first place. They must think we’re complete mugs!

Of course Earl Spencer has to pay his own bills hence he hawks a 30 quid signed eulogy to his sister from the gift shop and writes books. Sovereign grants aka state benefits.

William was a child and in boarding school. Of course he knew some things. But he was full boarding. Charles and Diana had joint custody.

So William only spent 9 weeks of every years holidays with Diana, plus visits to sports days and school events, and for afternoon tea.

Let's get 15 year old Williams knowledge of Diana's inner emotional state in perspective here.

Earl Spencer himself mentioned Meghan in his latest spoutings. And said he could see similarities in how Harry and Meghan are being treated to the way Diana was. Then had the nerve to say the Palace had hit him below the belt in their response to his book. I just heard this on the news. He is stirring up as much trouble as he can and is not looking good imho.

Most of it will go to pay wages. I see the RF as a British industry employing thousands of people, some of whom are highly specialised craftspeople, and in maintaining historic buildings. I like that.
