This is why I think he has waited too long. These stories might have had more credibility 20 or even 10 years ago but now they read like attempts to maximise scandal and revenue rather than credible facts. If he wanted to attack Charles, which he clearly does, he needed to do it earlier.

I agree, he just looks desperate and unpleasant now. Why didn't he say all this earlier?

I’m curious as to why they were chosen for the gig. Were they requested by Harry or was it their turn to do an engagement.

It’s all very strange! The Colonel of the Regiment is ….. Catherine!!! What a slap in the face for her.

Her other army Colonel in Chief role 1st The Queen’s Dragoon guards. I expect someone is getting their balls chewed off this morning!!

MrsLeonFarrell · Today 13:30

Not quite on topic but I'm finding it interesting that Richard Eden is once again out of step, as he was with project thaw. He is saying the palace statement was too soon whereas even The Guardian is saying its a PR master strike. I wonder who he is listening to, or maybe he been paid to do a Liz Jones to provoke comment.

Oh no!!

😂😂😂 sorry didn’t notice the autocorrect! Bunfight not gunfight. Although in intensity it is similar 😂

Re the billionaire disrupters - follow the money. Money can always be made more easily in times of chaos.

Just watched Tom Bower online - he was on a UK news show. They played a CS interview with CNN from the time of Diana's death. Back then CNN was a very respected news channel in the US. CS told the interviewer that he and KC were getting on well during the funeral planning and events. He sounded calm and believable. The news panel contrasted this nearly 30 year interview with the book.
They were also dismissive about the valet story.

Im hoping the valet makes a statement 😁

Diana was in love with one of her bodyguards at one time. Perhaps she thought if she could have an affair with an employee so could her ex husband.

The whole things sounds bonkers.

Puzzledandpissedoff · Today 13:32

No chance, @BemusedAmerican; it took three "sackings" to finally get rid of him, and with everything else that's going on they can hardly afford for that to be dragged up again

I do wonder if this was partly behind the palace statement about the Sussexes being private figures. Probably too late to stop this appearance but it will be interesting to see if Harry gets a military backdrop again.

I think as @TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow has queried it could have been a case of whose turn was it to roll up for the "gig".

I'm only guessing but I suspect that this will have been a decision made at MoD level.

I'd lay good money that Harry will find this deeply satisfying, @PlotTwistPending, but agree it's deeply unfortunate and one hell of a misjudgement

❤️ not a farmer duchess , although I did grow up in farming counties ….but yes I did and do really make goats cheese! 🧀

I don’t wish to derail but have you ever made Greek yoghurt?

WilliamsExtraSausage · Today 13:40

Did the entire regiment salute Harry or was it one soldier who got confused

Just to add that one of his CS’s daughters married a man older than him. Which imho adds to the picture.

You are very brave @BasiliskStare. MNHQ have had to intervene in a developing gunfight on the Book Being Stolen thread 😂

eta Bunfight. Not gunfight. Autocarrot

Edited

Gunfight might be more useful ...

Can anyone remember the details of the Blind from Lainy Gossip - I think around the weeks H&M first met in June / July 2016? Was there something inconsistent that was subsequently edited?

Ooooooo that makes sense Leon!!!!!

Yes Irish Guards approached by Harry’s Team to show up for Invictus, they said yes, then checked protocol with BP! Oooops!

Then release of letter!

That makes complete sense you clever little sausage! But what a wanker choosing Irish Guards. He just can’t help himself can he?

WilliamsExtraSausage · Today 13:46

The Earthshott Prize 2026 finalists are being announced tonight. Any bettings on some murmurings from the other camp?

In regards to the salacious allegation in CS book that Charles was in love with his valet. I’ve seen commentary on X that it was Michael Fawcett and was well known about at the time. I don’t want to believe it myself but I know that doesn’t make it not true. Really uncomfortable reading/viewing.

Barry Mannakee, before James Hewitt. when Harry was about 2. He was moved elsewhere by his managers.

She talked about having been in love with him on the Settelen tapes.

Sorry, why don't you want to believe it? I don't understand the problem, when we know both were in love with others.

He was moved out of his role due to their ‘inappropriate relationship’ - he died not long after in a RTA and Diana later said "I was only happy when he was around" and that his death was "the biggest blow of my life.". There were conspiracy theories at the time but the details of the inquest conclude otherwise.
