I have been criticised for posting blinds so will refrain ( even though I always post a warning) however I think there is something brewing as there is at least 1 about M ( aka the alliterate one) every day and the latest is discussing a rumour that has been circulating for some time . Not about yachting etc .

I am really interested in discussing these … would you be up for sharing on a designated thread or even DMing?

I agree. He looked broken.

@notimagain - I agree with you. Mind you though, my heckles did rise a bit until I remembered.

Edited

I find the claims that he was "delighted" offensive in the extreme. You're right, he was clearly devastated.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say something which may be unpopular. CS's book hasn't been published yet. There has been ( thus far I have seen , there maybe more ) one excerpt in the DM who are of course for commercial reasons going to publish the more salacious bits. I do think though before anyone has actually read the whole it's a bit premature to give an opinion on it ( the text - suspected motives behind it fair play ) So eg the DM headline was Diana said KC had an affair with his valet. Even in the same paragraph CS said that sounded unbelievable (paraphrase ) . Now , do I think the motives behind this book are mercenary , shoddy yes - do I think there is going to be a great deal of CS recollections which either can't be proven or don't fall under libel etc - yes . I don't think the book can be dismissed as vile until the entirety of it is known. I'm not saying it won't be. It doesn't look good thus far 😂 But re the actual text itself , I'm reserving judgment until I have read the whole thing which puts the headline fodder in context.

Basilisk(boring)Stare 😎

I think, if the valet story is anything to go by, one of the perhaps unintended consequences of the book might be that people think - now we know where Harry gets his sense of the dramatic and his tenuous grip on reality. I mean that’s right up there with my mother was basically murdered and the establishment wants harm to come to my family imo.

To get back on track again rather than that bloody book of which I have no interest reading or hearing about! Hence I’m on the HaM thread!!

What are people’s opinions on why a billionaire, who in the past has been so very careful with his own privacy, would support The HAMs?

I don’t find it believable that he is trying to disrupt the monarchy and as a PP pointed out, who would use PH for that? He’s hardly reliable.

But what the hell is in it for him?

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · Today 12:53

MrsFinkelstein · Today 12:33

Yes, it's a really odd anecdote to include, I've now seen that he's claimed the Queen (via Robert Fellowes) offered to reinstate Diana's HRH on the day of the funeral.

Again, another pretty unbelievable statement, that neither now Fellowes or the Queen can confirm. I do find it highly unlikely, as it was Charles who drove for Diana to get a State style funeral, and the late Queen has never, to my knowledge, done that kind of performative display.

Charles Spencer may find this book blows up his whole credibility. I've seen several quotes from people who have known him for years and years, saying he never mentioned anything like this at all previously, never even hinted at anything similar.

This could be like Spare imploding on HaM, on steroids.

I remember she did a deep bow when Diana’s coffin passed the gates of BP. it said a lot to me and I appreciated the gesture. Meanwhile Princess Margaret stood ramrod straight and couldn’t have been anymore disrespectful if she’d tried.

I’ve no idea and couldn’t care less. Harry and Meghan are for sale. End of.

That's a very measured comment, @BasiliskStare.

The DM are clearly going to serialise the most sensational parts. However, from my perspective, assuming that what they have printed is contained in the book as printed, he has lost considerable credibility on 3 counts:

1 Highly unlikely comment attributed to KC3
2 Father wanted to marry Elizabeth but 'warned off' by Mountbatten - dates don't add up
3 Diana deciding to divorce because Charles 'in love with valet' - they had been living separately for years before the Queen told them to divorce, so how would she even know, assuming this were true? He's clearly just decided to drag up an old story.

I think, rather than this being a tribute to Diana or speaking about Diana in an 'openly positive way' as he claimed in the pre-publication interview, he is using it to score points. Unfortunately some are falling for it.

Sorry @PlotTwistPending - crossposted.

Will try not to derail further.

I’m wondering about that appearance of the Irish Guards - that’s the PoW’s regiment isn’t it? I wonder if they asked or whether there might be repercussions.

It’s not just here, there has been targeted posts on other threads too recently regardless of what I post and I’m currently being discussed on another thread in connection with this one by the usual fan .
however I will admit that having my defence against being patronised and insulted, referred to as bickering does sting and then the throwaway comment about gifs! 🤷‍♀️

Stay. You’d miss me too much if you left.

Ps - This last week I’ve been thinking of you everyday - are you a farmer and did you really make your own goats cheese.

Exactly. Harry definitely has that problem. What was it CS said about Diana? She had a kind of persecution complex and couldn't take any criticism at all, just saw it as an attack. Just like Harry.

Judging by the comments, I am seeing on social media, I think this has backfired on CS. Anyone who was around when Diana died could see how upset C was. I was quite shocked as I had never seen him display much emotion before. It was clearly genuine. It has been documented that C disagreed with HMQ about how Diana’s death should be handled. A flipping movie has even made about the events of that week! He’s probably done KC a favour as people have a great deal of sympathy for him.

Not a chance. They have both proved they are hands off parents. They both working on boosting their popularity. Last night was a test. Next time, she'll be there but using the kids as shields

Edited

And Ingriftus is H’s shield. Without it he would be (even more) lost.

I truly think that the only people who still like either of them are those who have not followed the facts and therefore hold uninformed opinions.

My father in law is one such. He said to me that he thought the RF probably was racist to M because Prince Phillip had a history of making non pc remarks.

When I showed him evidence of just a few of the things H&M have said and done (which are facts from their own mouths, not just speculation) and the amount KC spent on M’s clothes, the patronages given by the late Queen etc etc he was aghast and has completely changed his view.

BemusedAmerican · Today 13:12

Re the billionaire disrupters - follow the money. Money can always be made more easily in times of chaos.

Just watched Tom Bower online - he was on a UK news show. They played a CS interview with CNN from the time of Diana's death. Back then CNN was a very respected news channel in the US. CS told the interviewer that he and KC were getting on well during the funeral planning and events. He sounded calm and believable. The news panel contrasted this nearly 30 year interview with the book.
They were also dismissive about the valet story.

Im hoping the valet makes a statement 😁

I think last night was a trial run for HAM to see what response he got. This is all "project rehabilitation "

When I eventually saw the shindig mentioned in a paper today it was lunchtime and the article was placed halfway down the page.

@bluegreygreen and others who have expressed an interest. I have started a thread re CS's book. So if people are interested in discussing the actual book rather than age old arguments - here it is. Just to note the book is not available until Sept 22nd but I have pre-ordered it on Kindle.

I've set it up early in case it helps point people who want to comment on the book itself in a different direction other than this thread.

I’m curious as to why they were chosen for the gig. Were they requested by Harry or was it their turn to do an engagement.

@BasiliskStare I agree with your measured approach but I also think that the things that have been serialised already are undermining any credibility the rest might have.
