Another way to look at it.
Invictus is failing because of bad governance, bad PR and a bad patron. At this moment, who knows if Invictus 2027 will actually happen?
If KC3 hadn't smoothed things with Uganda... When Invictus finally fails (either through lack of funding for 2027, or lack of interest/ money thereafter) KC3 gets stuck with the blame. H has already blamed The Letter for the Ugandan withdrawal; the Ugandan withdrawal then becomes the reason for Invictus failing ( being undermined by Pa).
KC3, by saying to Uganda - no, don't mind me, crack on! - has prevented copycat withdrawals, and has thrown the Invictus situation back into the lap of H and the Invictus committee. When Invictus fails, they can try to blame The Letter, but it will be much harder to draw a cause-and-effect line.
( This is leaving aside all the geopolitical stuff and the need to keep Uganda sweet as an ally... which I don't understand in an Invictus context ( well, any context, actually)).
