Yes agreed....TBH I'm sceptical about some of these claims...

I know lots of folks will say "ah but royal privilege" but the Army would have been taking a hell of a risk twenty years back accepting him if he really was significantly ND.

Moving on, conditions such as diagnosed ADHD were a disqualifing condition for flying roles in aviation until very recently- in the civil world there has been some relaxation in the rules, not sure about the military.

I've also heard enough accounts from some involved in his flying training to comvinced he was a normal student....and no, you've really don't get through flying training if you are thick.

You won't survive (possibly literally) in the flying game, certainly in the military one, if you have poor impulse control, poor.executive function etc...

So...if he is genuinely demonstrating signs of a condition then just maybe it's only relatively recently started to manifest in a manner that's obvious to the public..

I agree! , personally I think his current behaviour is more likely the result of all the drugs and alcohol he’s taking finally catching up with him .

The grifting / "let's be friends " etc, surely PH would consider himself above all that? It's so classless

Didn't Gabor diagnose h with ADHD? I think H is a lethal combination of dimness, narcissistic and a non empath and unfortunately he doesn't have any good people around him to help

Into that heady mix add in long term substance abuse which also undermines anyone’s emotional capacity for being rational, calm, considered and responsive rather than volatile, reactive, aggressive and chaotic.

The subs abuse also had eroded his MH so that he is paranoid - hence the dragon slayer media lawsuits alongside the relentless security obsession.

I suggest that these two decades long fixations have spiralled after the ANL loss and all his twisted unhinged irrational headspace is now fully obsessed with the security stuff now that the media obsession has reached the end of the road and this might be his reason to come back to the UK - in his delusional angry attempts to physically force the issue by being on the ground in the UK.

It seems unlikely that they did considering at the time of Diana’s marriage they were legally unenforceable.

Legally unenforceable, but used as a guide for future negotiations. They were for the benefit of the person marrying into the family as well as the family itself. The idea is (and was back then) to reduce any future conflict.

But did he have an important role in the army or is it all HAM's spin? Meg recently hugely exaggerated his army career and they were again a laughing stock. Any images of H in the army is him poking his head out if a tank with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth

It's not just HAM spin though is it....over the years, well before M came charging ont the scene, H got plenty of PR coverage during his time in the Army...

Not sure about the tank image but there are plenty of other H images from his forces days on the internet, no need to go through M,'s social media - she doesn't have a clue..

For the literary minded amongst us - a riff on The Wasteland by TS Eliot:

The Wace Land

September is the cruellest month, breeding
Conkers out of the dead land of exile, mixing
Memory of the palace with desire for shade,
Stirring dull roots with Autumn rain on Wace’s lawns.
Harry and Meghan, the hollow pair, using
Ian’s islands, his private acres where the sun beats
And the dead tree of monarchy gives no shelter,
The cricket of cameras no relief, and the dry stone
No sound of water—only the villa’s hush,
A heap of broken images under borrowed roofs.

Profound. Very profound.

I love this so much.

Actually no, at the time they were voided by the courts as considered an attempt to overrule judicial judgement.

I think so too. A pp on an earlier thread said that drug misuse catches up with you earlier than alcohol use & I strongly suspect that's what happened with H

A pp on this thread said that he would have needed a certain amount of intelligence to get through his pilots exams so it does sound as though his mental health has deteriorated substantially since leaving the army

I would have so much respect for him if he acknowledged that his issues have been caused by his drug misuse, sought appropriate healthcare and came out of it a better person

But all the time he's blaming everyone else for all his problems, I have no sympathy for him at all, I'm afraid

He won’t do that Austen , he liked the way it made him feel and he used them as therapy, we know this because he has told us himself 🤷‍♀️

It doesn't bode well for the future does it?

I’ve been following these threads with interest and amusement, thank you, you very funny lot!

the move back has been a big surprise but here is what I think has happened:

  • M did a big number on H at the beginning as she desperately wanted to live back in the US and use her “evaluated” (to coin a favourite M word) status to get her in with all the A Listers. She played into H’s fears to convince him they were not safe in the UK.
  • The US hasn’t worked out. H’s mental health has declined as he doesn’t fit in there and has no purpose. M has been desperately trying to make it work jumping from one failed project to the next. All whilst dealing with a DH who is losing the plot more and more every day.
  • Realising it’s not working but still not wanting to move back to UK, M carries on and on that it’s not safe for them in the UK so H continues fighting UK Gov for protection and taking on the paps. All in a bid to hopefully move back one day.
  • Finally, M sees that the only way to save her marriage is if they trial a UK return. She needs this marriage to work right now. None of her personal endeavours have worked out. Any divorce settlement was pre-agreed in the prenup when she had very little power and won’t be nearly enough for her to live off at the level she wants to.

So that’s my theory. I’m unsure as yet whether M intends to try and make the move a big success or whether she will do the opposite.

I agree with most of your observations but would suggest that the return to the UK is about MM doing a ‘return to sender’ - ensconcing her dysfunctional, erratic, volatile, morose addict STBXH back with his family, friends, community and culture so she doesn’t have to deal with him as his MH circles the drain. She wants him out of her hair and her responsibility - it’s the ‘discard’ classic move in any narc relationship (idealise, devalue, discard) - I doubt he is aware of her plans and I suspect she is calculating the timing as to when is optimum for her financially to cut ties. I don’t believe she is in any romantic relationship with this buffoon - he has served his purpose for her - I think the ANL reputational and financial catastrophe was the last straw and she’s done. Shes probably used the kids as a pawn and will claim drug abuse etc down the line to get them back to the US within the year. She will have been collecting her ‘receipts’ over the last decade. She disposed of her first husband and her previous partner in an instant when it suited her - she will do the same here - when it suits her.

I thought H didn’t pass his pilot’s exam.

I read that too but hope I'm wrong as according to Meg he spent 10 years as a helicopter pilot. A lot of people have had some lucky escapes if that's the case

I thought H didn’t pass his pilot’s exam.

From google . . .

Prince Harry passed his military pilot exams and completed the Army Air Corps flying course in April 2010.

While he did fail an initial written theory test in February 2009 during the early stages of his training, he received extra tuition, retook the assessment, and ultimately passed his final flight tests. He was awarded his flying wings by Prince Charles in May 2010 and later qualified as an Apache helicopter commander in July 2013

PleasantGreenPorcupine · Yesterday 12:15

LeedsLoiner · Yesterday 11:21

That's rather worrying considering he was an Army Officer involved in combat going around Afghanistan in a helicopter blowing people up !

Edited

Yes, I'm sure the army did all the relevant checks and tests. He seems to manage when he tries.

elessar · Yesterday 12:15

Wow these threads have moved so fast I’ve hardly been able to keep up.

my two cents on a couple of bits. Firstly yes of course HAM are increasing the risk to their own kids by outing their location. Totally and utterly irresponsible considering their stated concerns. That said I simply don’t believe the risk is that high, for all they don’t stop complaining about it.

there are hundreds of high profile people in the U.K. who manage perfectly well with private security, and when was the last time we heard about a celebrity - with their own security - who was harmed?

Harry was fine with private security in the US for years, and his excuse is that they were armed. But that makes little difference in the U.K. where it’s much more difficult for a bad actor to acquire a weapon. So it’s going to make zero actual difference.

Ian Wace will have good security on his estate I’m sure.

its all a massive fuss about nothing in my opinion. I’m not saying there’s no risk, but I think it’s far lower than Harry wants it to be, and perfectly easily managed by private security and being sensible (which they are not).

I’ll never understand what these billionaires get from hosting this pair of grifters for free. Very odd behaviour.

Agree, @jeffgoldblum.

A family member has autism, and is also one of the most considerate people I know.

It's one reason I greatly dislike the tendency on MN to jump to 'on the spectrum' as an explanation for poor behaviour.

On the other hand, a sibling of mine got a late diagnosis and uses it as an excuse for all their negative behaviour and to not function well in life.

It pisses me off as one of my kids also has a diagnosis and we teach ways to function despite your brain not working the way the world was built to expect. Yet here is my sibling pontificating about it being a reason to behave poorly. Whereas my child does really well working out ways to manage as we’ve always given space to do that.

Anyway, whether H is deserving of a diagnosis or not, he’s a total numpty.

Well unfortunately there is not much to be done, however I should not worry, I imagine they are being brought up mostly by competent and caring nannies.

Nope. It must be total chaos for them. Even the poor kid looks so awkward when he was instructed to run in his wellies. Egged on by his totally narcissistic parents

as someone with a late dx of AuDHD it explained so much of my behavior but does not in any way allow be to be a rude twat or any other foul behavior

Harry is sure to play the MH card at some point , my gut feel is that Megan will stick it out until Charlie goes and then slope back off for the divorce etc

Exactly. Think how millions of people live with all manner of disabilities, cognitive, processing, behaviour and physical and just get on with it. They go to work and are productive members of society. People with epilepsy, wheelchair users, hearing and visually impaired, those with bad migraines, ADHD, OCD, anxiety - they can still be very positive people and productive members of society.

I thought H didn’t pass his pilot’s exam.

Story (as I've heard it) is he struggled with some of the groundschool phase and had to retake some items (which he then passed).

In his defence he's not the first student to have struggled at that stage, won't be the last...

Supposedly his airwork was OK...
