a cartoon/mock photo ... depicted Harry on the phone, speaking to hotel reception, and was along the lines of:
Harry: I’d like a wake-up call please
Reception: certainly Sir, everyone thinks you’re a cunt

Thank you so much, @MeghanAndTheSeals - you just made my day Grin

My moment of fame has come! That was me who posted it on the memes thread when Spare was released. I’ll see if I can find it

These threads are moving so fast I can't keep up. Have we discussed the I paper article that the Sussexes are stepping back from the Sandringham agreement??

It was mentioned briefly upthread.

The article is here https://archive.is/5aFnY

Given Harry's previous interventions wrt Ukraine and Trump, I'm not entirely sure that there will be any great difference compared to what we've seen before.

TheRealHousewife · 12/09/2026 17:19

@PuzzledandpissedoffThank you for sharing Tony Ben’s 5 vital rules for democracy… I’d not seen those either. The more I get educated around everything HaM it’s clear they are very self promoting and self interested. Their moto surely must be it’s not what I can do for you but what can you do for me. What’s in it for Citizens H&M?

If they actually follow through with this I can see them finally being removed from the Royal website and possibly even having titles removed. This isn't a battle they can emerge from with any credibility or respect.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/09/2026 17:24

Just a thought, but I'm not sure how they could "step back" from the Sandringham agreement when they didn't agree with it in the first place?

By Harry's account there were supposed to be various options, but it was "obvious" they'd decided beforehand that HIHO was never going to be one of them and the whole "stitch up" was always intended to force them out

I suppose it could be said it was intended to convey what was expected of them, but clearly other people's expectations aren't something they care about, and hhere we are

bluegreygreen · 12/09/2026 17:28

I've always thought they should be removed from the website - or alternatively, that the website should be updated (as it badly needs) and have separate sections for working royals and those who are simply family members.

One thing that is useful about having a page for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is that the fact that they are not working royals is clearly stated, with their own statement, the Queen's statement after Sandringham and the final decision the following year all linked in one place.

A couple of small points before I catch up Reacher ( my mother not only has a rubbish computer she doesn't have Amazon on the TV )

I just remembered a poster ( can't remember who, sorry ) who said - Camilla puts up with the Royalty because of the man , M puts up with the man because of the royalty. I don't know but over the last few years that sounds increasingly credible ( or would she not have dispensed with all the titles when she was signing up all the multi $m contracts. )

The other quick point about polls re RF popularity. They seem to hover around M being just above AMW. H hovers around and about the York girls. But I think , it's not just the % of popularity . Many people don't give two hoots about the RF so they get into don't know / don't care territory , the thing the Office of H&M 😉should look at is the % of people ( who express a preference ) are actively voting against them. Now I am somewhat sceptical of polls because it depends on many factors - are they self selecting , what is the demographic etc. But I haven't seen one which overwhelmingly welcomes H&M back into the WRF fold or even claims they are popular in the UK. I suspect in the US no-one could even be bothered to conduct a poll on them ( if they have , I'd be interested to hear )

I think H is whistling in the wind at the moment & by trying to get his voice heard against the Lord Chamberlain / Bp announcement - he's really not helping himself. But if he hasn't learned by now - well. Goodness to Betsy , they've only been back a couple of weeks and the ridiculous drama continues.

Ach well.

I think the baby death one was in Africa when meeting with women who'd lost children to AIDS. Meghan slide onto the floor to play with some babies who were far more photogenic than the adult woman pouring her heart out. Sad

That was absolutely shocking behaviour. She completely turned her back the woman, who was telling a harrowing story of being forced into child marriage, infected with HIV as a result and losing her child. Meghan was practically rolling her eyes clearly thinking 'would this woman ever shut up I'm trying to look like a nice person who plays with children here'. Ive never seen rudeness like it

BasiliskStare · 12/09/2026 17:30

@bluegreygreen - thank you for that link. If H&M do not clap back at a source saying they do not feel beholden to the Sandringham agreement ( my paraphrase ) - well, I fear they are making trouble for themselves. They mistake fame and notoriety and H's familial link for actual importance. And I don't see that the majority of other people see it as they do. I may be wrong but I think KC has given them the rope , let's see what they do with it. Has it really only been about two weeks 😂 Gordon Bennet. Are we not entertained? as others have said 😊

It's been interesting over the part few years watching how few of the checks and balances, in both the US and here, actually work. Most depend on people being honourable and having a sense of responsibility and duty. Since Harry is motivated purely by ego and self interest he is inadvertently revealing the flaws in the current system.

They’re a pair of dangerous fools who frankly need committing, or at least a very radical intervention.
Where will this nonsense end?

KatherineParr · 12/09/2026 17:32

They were only very briefly fully compliant with the Sandringham Agreement but there's a bit of a difference between them stepping over the boundaries and just flat out saying 'we're not going to comply any more'. I agree with @MrsLeonFarrell if they push this any further the titles will end up removed. It feels like they're spiralling to be honest.

The Nolan principles aren't quite as the article has portrayed them. I've pasted the Nolan principles below so we can see what Harry and Meghan are stepping back from:

Selflessness: Acting solely in the public interest.
Integrity: Avoiding outside obligations that could influence official duties.
Objectivity: Making decisions on merit and evidence.
Accountability: Remaining accountable to the public and subject to scrutiny.
Openness: Acting transparently and providing reasons for decisions.
Honesty: Remaining truthful in all duties.
Leadership: Promoting and exhibiting these values through personal behaviour

If they don’t stop provoking BP the titles will go . After all very few people thought AMW would lose his titles not that I am suggesting their behaviour is the same as his but they are behaving badly in a different way .
Can you imagine the response ??

Would the response really be any worse than these progressively more insane antics? They should just rip the plaster off, the furore would soon die down and this rancid pair would probably finally fuck off.

spreadandsprinkles · 12/09/2026 17:45

I think she wants to centre As Ever in the Cotswolds and give it that English country garden look and feel. Mind you she could be in competition with Diddly Squat farm shop and her arch nemesis Jezzer.

AlexandraCarrington · 12/09/2026 17:45

Integrity: Avoiding outside obligations that could influence official duties.

And this is why half-in, half-out would never be allowed, quite apart from all the other principles.

And the converse, using your official position to promote your outside interests.

If that article is from genuine 'sources' (in other worlds Harry and Meghan themselves) and I think it is, then that just shows they have learned absolutely nothing these past 7 years.

They still don't understand the distinction between being a member of the royal family and representing the crown. They just don't get it. And it seems they really did think they could just swan in and take up where they left off before the Ground Flounce. They have a rude awakening coming their way.

Absolutely, they do not understand the difference. I genuinely don't know how all this will end.

MrsLeonFarrell · 12/09/2026 17:58

Maybe they believe that if they can provoke the King into removing titles the public will be on their side. I think they are incorrect. Apart from a very small group of people who don't understand how it all works, everyone knows that in a Constitutional monarchy those who are representing the monarch need to be apolitical. Harry and Meghan making political statements is probably the one thing that would lead all politicians of any political persuation to unite and agree their titles need to go. Since AMW the establishment has worked out how to do that.

However much he claims differently, being the King's son and visiting a few charities does not make Harry a working royal. The more insists he does, the more political statements he makes, the not he complains about not getting expensive security, the less support he will have.

Very thin ice ahead.
