Harry makes me think of Hilaire Belloc's Lord Lundy

The Duke — his aged grand-sire — bore
The shame till he could bear no more.
He rallied his declining powers,
Summoned the youth to Brackley Towers,
And bitterly addressed him thus—
"Sir! you have disappointed us!
We had intended you to be
The next Prime Minister but three:
The stocks were sold; the Press was squared:
The Middle Class was quite prepared.
But as it is! . . . My language fails!
Go out and govern New South Wales!"

The Aged Patriot groaned and died:
And gracious! how Lord Lundy cried!

Alison Boshoff's deep dive claims Harry and Meghan think the Royals will let them back in because Harry thinks "the Royals need them". 😂😂😂😂😂

Harry is not a well person, and needs help.

And the proper Royals keep on royalling ...

(sorry, off topic, just thought it was lovely and low key compared to all the hype)

I like the fact that Charles is there in his plus fours with his binoculars hanging round his neck ☺️

Oh my god, I'm embarrassed for him.
It references the unfortunate poll, as well 🫣

Edited

I realise that there's a lot to unpack from this article but my 1st question would be

"Why would the British public buy 'As Ever' pillowcases or gardening tools?"

I just don't know where to begin with that one, so good luck, Meghan but I ain't going to be a customer

I think their fans believe that too. They all fail to understand that no person is bigger than the institution. (Maybe Diana was for a time).

The interesting thing about Harry is 10 years ago I think he was perceived as the relatable one, the one who was most normal, average bloke type. Since he’s left he done everything to show he’s not that at all - spoiled, self interested, fame hungry and completely out of touch. Amazing really.

CathyorClaire · 11/09/2026 20:35

Wow. Last thread closed and this one already halfway 😜

Anyway. I gather Harold has briefed his September itinerary to tame paps under the mistaken impression anyone might care and the equally mistaken impression he can mount a charm offensive and somehow magically turn back time to the days he was the Palace manufactured cheeky chappy of yore.

I suppose we have to admire his resilience in the face of reality in some ways but...😂

As for the titles that can't be removed other than by Parliament I'm sure I read somewhere the royals are hesitant to do this for fear of sparking unforeseen/unintended future consequences and I'm inclined to believe it otherwise 'DoY' would have been forcibly retired rather than suspended when the rest of the nonsense went.

Harold will remain Duke of Sussex for the foreseeable IMO.

I’ve been mega busy so catching up -I’m only up to 13.50 on page 10 ATM but had to write this.
I LOVE all of the ‘That’s not my Prince……….’ comments.
I’ve just choked on my Ringtons Sultana Cookie laughing.

Second - I’m calling divorce. She will leave the kids with Harry for the Montecito olive garden house, mortgage free and an ‘allowance’ until Lily is 18.
The reason she will do this is that Harry is unlikely to inherit from his father -that will all have been sorted (in the same way AMW didn’t inherit from his mother) in the form of trusts that Meghan can’t get hold of.
So if she wants a payday she needs to do it before William becomes King as he will tell her to bugger off. Or maybe he will get Mike to tell her to bugger off. Anyway, I digress.
Diana got £17 million 30 years ago.
Meghan will want more than that for her silence and handing over the kids.

True! Incredibly entitled, boorish, arrogant and greedy.

Fascinating, because I keep thinking that the Monty Python song with the Vikings needs updating...

"HAM and grievance.
"HAM, photo ops, and grievance.
"HAM, Netflix deals, and podcast cancellations.
"HAM, private jets, climate lectures, and HAM.

HAM, HAM, HAM, HAM!
Lovely HAM! Wonderful HAM!

Diana was Princess of Wales. Meghan’s position is similar to Sarah Ferguson’s. I believe she got £400,000.

ImpotentPublicFigure · 11/09/2026 20:52

I don’t think they would pay for Meghan’s silence. And I doubt it would work if they tried.

Man with a gun: "get out of the car!"
Princess Anne: "not bloody likely!"

In an interview shortly after the event Anne said that he, Ian Ball, was in great danger because he tore the sleeve of her favourite frock trying to pull he out of the car!

On a purely personal level I'd have thought any woman would prefer a husband with more intelligence and integrity, but even if Meghan knew what integrity is I doubt anyone with it would consider her an option

Maybe to get all of that fabulous lists of goodies she was willing to compromise on intelligence and integrity, or she knew exactly how malleable he would be and she could have whatever she wanted.

BasiliskStare · 11/09/2026 21:00

A couple of small points before I catch up Reacher ( my mother not only has a rubbish computer she doesn't have Amazon on the TV )

I just remembered a poster ( can't remember who, sorry ) who said - Camilla puts up with the Royalty because of the man , M puts up with the man because of the royalty. I don't know but over the last few years that sounds increasingly credible ( or would she not have dispensed with all the titles when she was signing up all the multi $m contracts. )

The other quick point about polls re RF popularity. They seem to hover around M being just above AMW. H hovers around and about the York girls. But I think , it's not just the % of popularity . Many people don't give two hoots about the RF so they get into don't know / don't care territory , the thing the Office of H&M 😉should look at is the % of people ( who express a preference ) are actively voting against them. Now I am somewhat sceptical of polls because it depends on many factors - are they self selecting , what is the demographic etc. But I haven't seen one which overwhelmingly welcomes H&M back into the WRF fold or even claims they are popular in the UK. I suspect in the US no-one could even be bothered to conduct a poll on them ( if they have , I'd be interested to hear )

I think H is whistling in the wind at the moment & by trying to get his voice heard against the Lord Chamberlain / Bp announcement - he's really not helping himself. But if he hasn't learned by now - well. Goodness to Betsy , they've only been back a couple of weeks and the ridiculous drama continues.

Ach well.

There's definitely an As Ever tool. Don't know if he gardens in abeyance, though.

Is it plus fours or trousers tucked on boots?
Either way, a very casual outfit.

"and".

"And" is the conjunction here

She's willing to compromise on intelligence + integrity and she knew exactly how malleable he would be

They have several events during the year.

The last one they held this year was in early summer, and William attended that one, hence why it was due to be Harry's turn to attend this one.

The award ceremony is only one of the events held by the Diana Award charity.

The story is the one initially broken by Charlotte Griffiths, who confirmed a day or two ago (I think the video was linked here) that the event had been cancelled. She speculated why that might have been, but said that she had not been able to confirm why independently, and was planning to do so.
I haven't seen an update from her.

The only place I've seen any mention of this apparent event is in tabloid articles claiming that it's been cancelled, with the DM providing the origin story. I've not come across any announcements still online that such an event was ever scheduled. There's nothing on the Diana Award website or social media accounts, even to notify people that this supposed event has been cancelled. Who were the supposed guests?

This is a charity where the organising team have to state their pronouns and which asks supporters to hold a Host a Bake Sale or an Own Clothes Day at School as fundraisers. The event (part of SXSW London) William attended was held in a cultural centre in Shoreditch. Their actual award events are virtual. Somehow I find it hard to believe they were going to hold a gala dinner at Raffles. It also doesn't make sense that the event was cancelled just because of some kind of Harry tantrum. It's not like the whole thing would have depended on his presence. To cancel the event just 10 days before it was scheduled would have cost the Diana Award loads of money.

I actually am starting to feel sorry for H. I think he is being coerced.

If I were being charitable, I might think he's just unwilling to admit that he may have (by "may have" I mean "has almost certainly") made a mistake. But to admit it would be to lose face.

Losing face is something that happens to all of us - sometimes we're too daft to admit to ourselves that losing face is what has happened.
