@bluegreygreen thank you! 'Official' engagements eh? Why are they official? Why aren't they just engagements or events? TBH I think the tabloid press is encouraging all this nonsense by reporting things in this way.

So although I expect that it made him feel very, very 'royal' and important I have a feeling that there isn't going to be a huge press pool showing up to cover these 'engagements'.

Ian Wace's co-founder of their hedge fund Marshall Wace is Paul Marshall. Marshall is also co-owner of GB News. Perhaps HAM see a route into GB News favour (ie to promote them) through this connection. I don't watch GB News so don't know if they're generally Sussex supporters already or not.

I can see why H&M might think that Wace and Marshall could be useful to them, but not why Ian Wace would want to be bothered with H&M.

Yep, a whole load of them ('royal reporters') were either sugars or playing to the sugar-gallery. Now they're trying to switch sides while saving face at the same time. It's all gone a bit synchonised swimming while eating plum pie and drowning in Clarkson's Cotswolds.

If he does work for free it’ll cause a big headache for the palace. The big argument to keep the current royal family funding model is usually “but they do so much for charity”. Harry doing the same for free will be undermining that and be the counter argument in any anti royal debates.

They need him to not do this or if he is, for it to be a failure. They need the crowds to not show up, the press pack to fail to be interested. No articles about visits with clicky links to high street versions of Meghan’s posh outfits.

(for what it’s worth, I don’t think Harry would be doing this deliberately to undermine the rest of the family, I don’t think he’s that deep.)

So, did he say he was 'invited to participate' or that he 'is attending'? If the former he's not listed, if the latter It's possibly that he's buying his way in just like any member of the public.

Ah - thank you @bluegreygreen - it was the Australian tour , not the South African one - I stand , quite happily, corrected. I knew there was one but more than happy to be kept honest. 💐The S.A one was when M was tearily saying no one asked how she was in the context of they had visited a charity helping girls facing sexual assault and violence , and also families living far below the breadline (inter alia) . I'm not fond of the phrase because I think most normal people do , but for that occasion "check your privilege" I think would have been appropriate . It was tone deaf. I think that was picked up at the time even though they were still in their "honeymoon period".

Are not facts important as H recently clapped back 😂 My general point remains , he was preternaturally rude whilst carrying out an official engagement to people whose job was to cover that engagement. I suspect this was him trying to say "I'm doing things then, so you shouldn't". Of course the RF would ignore it even if they didn't arrange things far longer in advance than this.
