If Harry really cares about Invictus he may be better offering to step away from it and let them find a less controversial patron.

Archive link to DM Uganda Invictus story https://archive.is/3vTaO

Hopefully one benefit of this noise around Invictus is that someone in the mainstream media will start looking into the finance story a bit more closely.

Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace.

I’m a bit late to this but this makes me think of those scam warnings. “Please check with Buckingham Palace if your charity is approached to host Harry & Meghan. Actual royalty will never ask you to pay for their trips on private jets or for 5* hotels. Be scam aware.”

So accurate

Can I just say, on a couple of threads ago, when he first came back, I said he’d do this! I think he is desperate to get back into uniform!!

On another note I think Ingriftus is a huge headache for the government. On the one hand they can’t get rid of it, well because you know, we might have some more wounded personnel within the next few years.

Also the last Games had 23 nations and 534 competitors, so there were loads of international military, diplomatic and government representatives attending. All good PR in these “difficult” times.

So the timing is all wrong to let it just quietly disappear.

And on the other hand you have the nightmare PH, swanning around thinking he is some rep of the RF. well until he was recently slapped down.

It’s a bloody PR nightmare. Especially if the expenses that H&M have previously spent at Ingriftus come to light.

Just need to buy in some more popcorn. Isn’t the 1 year to go event not soon?

The funding for Invictus is "quietly disappearing", as is its reputation as a good, solid cause. The costs involved in staging Invictus, coupled with the fact that the athletes have to pay their own way, is causing raised eyebrows outside the MN RF forum.

At this point I would not be surprised if Invictus 2027 gets cancelled.

On that note, when is the Well Child thing being held? Has that been postponed/ cancelled?

Beesandhoney123 · 09/09/2026 22:52

H&M just dont have enough to do in the afternoon, as my gdm would say.

A dedicated stamp collector would be more interesting ( i mean it) than sitting next to that pair, who do not ask what they could do for their country, and only care what their country could do for them.

They dont need security. Do they go anywhere? I doubt they have a mantle shelf groaning with the weight of invites. Just jump in the muddy old volvo and you wont get a second look. Oh, wait...

I thought A listers were established movie stars, the silver screen, not by virtue of birth or marriage. And as far as i am aware, classes tend to stick together, inviting good old Bunty from school whether he run the bank or lives wild on daddys moorland. They can trust Bunty. Hes one of them.

Combination of letters patent and Act of Parliament can reduce them to plain Mr and Mrs Windsor...at this point they are poking the bear and William is very unlikely to be merciful towards them..

They could actually change their names. They wouldn’t be the first people to use Prince or Princess as a given name.

Starryfifty · 09/09/2026 23:05

DaisyDooley · 09/09/2026 22:39

Yes @Starryfifty it can be removed.
The precedent was set by George V who had to remove the British Prince title from his cousin Charles who was the posthumous son of Prince Leopold , Duke of Albany. Poor Charles was forced by his family to go and live in Germany to run the Dukedom of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
He had a childhood plagued by illness and was very close to his sister Alice (Of Athlone, longest living grandchild o& Queen Victoria). He was sent to Germany at only 15 years old as it was believed he could be ‘re educated ‘ as a German as at that point he was terribly English.
He was a man of two countries -his German subjects & Aristocratic peers didn’t like how English he was, so he sided with Germany during WWI and lost his German titles dur8ng the German ‘revolution’ and he lost his British titles (held since birth) as a result of siding against his cousin and the British Empire.

So not just AMW. We have full, proper precedent set.

And if Harry carrys on pretending he’s a workimg royal, harassing the Home Secretary for security , sueing his fathers government , accusing judges of ‘whitewash’ during a high court case because he’s lost, then arguing with letters sent, that the Palace -not the King, the Palace - have been Forced to Send because of his actions , to every person who would need to be informed of Royal visits/protocol to inform them he is not a working royal no matter what he says then the King absolutely has to remove every title.

Harry is painting himself very very quickly into a corner. He is leaving the palace with no option. They will HAVE to shut him down for national security.
He cannot be swanning off to places like The Ukraine and being treated as if he is representing the King, The Government and the Country.
Private Individuals are not allowed to behave like this.
It’s really really becoming untenable.

Or MI6 kidnap him and take him to some deep underground bunker at Porton Down and we never see him again.
Either way. I really don’t mind.

😂😂😂 the MI6 kidnapping

The global chief of globalness James Holt left, it was converted into a different financial vehicle within a ‘philanthropies’ envelope, and never heard of again.

Holt is back in England spending more time with the Liberal Democrats.

If they're now going to blame Charles for the letter ruining Invictus, I guess they could show that by not expecting him to open the games, and also not accepting any of his money. I look forward to them making a statement about how principled they're going to be on this issue.

Yes! 🙌

I'm back after an emotional day watching King Harald's funeral

Each Norwegian monarch chooses a motto. The new King, Haakon, has chosen the same motto as his late father & grandfather "All for Norway"

I presume H's motto is "All for Me" . . . .

Welcome back Austen , I hope William and Anne held the British end up? ❤️

Aggghhhh - their hot headedness is infuriating. If you are one of their PR team it must be like a lawyer having a client and advising them not to tank their case by getting on the stand but them insisting on it.

Ideal response to the King's letter: We appreciate King Charles' clarification and support during this transition back to the UK and are looking forward to working with our charities and other projects in the near future.

Their angry response: We aren't just private citizens we are public figures who are totally shocked that the King was rude enough to send a letter like this without letting us edit it first.

Ideal response to the Ugandan leader tweet: We are saddened that the Ugandan veterans will no longer be able to be part of the Invictus family. We are open to discussing their return at any time.

Their angry response: It's all the King's fault for sending that stupid letter.

Everyone knows that General Muhoozi Kainerugaba is a crazy loon. He's previously used Twitter to threaten to invade Kenya, called for a dead or alive manhunt for a political rival and threatened to take Jay-Z to the UN if he didn't hand Beyonce over to him for a wife.

Given that the military swear allegiance to the Monarch, trying to get his dad's army to help him circumvent his dad would have been (a) stupid - of course they're not going to appoint H to anything withoit KC3's say-so and (b) treason.

I didn't initially believe it (and still don't) but the Uganda intervention, and the reasons given for it - military siding with HAM against KC3 - make me go hmmmmm....

Working my way through the last 2 threads, very interesting and somewhat satisfying developments. I am not sure I fully follow the whole Uganda 'thing'. What exactly is being implied here? What is it that Harry did, that Uganda had an issue with and why?

And why is his attempt to cos play with the British Army so dodgy? What would an honorary role entail and how could he make money off the back of that?

Think carefully about why a country with experience of coup d’état would question getting involved with someone who is trying to get the army to recognise him rather than the head of state….

I still remember the poster ( Spanikopita ?) who insisted that H and W would be standing together at a charity event within 2 years .
I think that was about 18 months ago .

A nice and informative poster , I completely disagreed then and kept that under my cheese hat because many people believed.

Uganda joined Invictus two months ago, so would be sending their first team to the games in Birmingham next year.

Today the son of the Ugandan president who is also head of their armed forces announced on Twitter that Uganda had decided to withdraw from Invictus because he didn't want to do anything that "construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere."

In retaliation Harry's team has briefed the press that

"Intended or unintended, this is clearly a consequence of the Lord Chamberlain's guidance regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that was rushed out without consultation on Monday,"

Whereas in reality - the letter didn't make any reference to Invictus at all - it would take a loon to make a leap from that to believing that the King was opposed to Invictus.

And the Uganda guy is an absolute loon. See the Beyonce issue in my post above.

But Harry now gets to try to play the victim and blame it on his Dad.

Same old same old.

I was watching Dickie Arbiter earlier. He made the point that removing the titles is pointless. They'll fashion themselves as Prince Harry and Princess Meghan

Well not if Charles pulls another Andrew move!
