King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

@smilesy There are things like this that William could remove though. He probably won’t but as I said earlier, we are running out of working Royals. I’m not many years W&K will be pretty much on their own. At this rate, it will be 20 years before their dc do anything meaningful. No one else will be doing much in 20 years. So what then?

Why does he need to remove it though if it is a personal choice? Members of the public are always told that there is no need to bow or curtsy 🤷‍♀️

Holograms?

Again preferable to H&M.

Also see crochet figures, corgis, rocks and lumps of clay. Wordy bananas. And Thomas Markle.

Holograms.

They’ve already done that!

Harry continually meddles with the politics and international reputation of the UK to its detriment. See Ukraine, recent overseas trips to Nigeria Columbia etc and high profile comments about the US president and US constitution etc etc etc.
As neither King nor government seeks to challenge this stuff I can only think that the reality is that they endorse him.
I would like for Harry to stop costing the UK taxpayer money both directly eg security costs and indirectly eg trashing the UK international reputation and thereby affecting borrowing costs.
He is doing a lot of economic damage to the UK public.
I don’t think the main responsibility here lies with Harry although he is a chancer and a grifter. However the government and the King have a duty to protect the public interest and they are failing us.

But why aren’t the RF paying them to go away given that they were so willing to do this for Andrew?

I’ll ignore the Andrew bit and stick to the matter at hand.

Why? Because the demands for money would never ever stop. It would be akin to dealing with blackmailers in my opinion.

And I personally would not wish to give one penny to someone who made unfounded accusations about me to the world. Nor would I be amenable to paying off people who purposely tried to destroy everything I’d worked towards.

Tell me. Would you do that if someone had done the same to you? Honestly? With the threat of continual requests for money for the rest of your life?

I’m sure I would not.

Edited

Yes it’s convenient to ignore AMW even though the payments are pertinent to the discussion.

AMW is not living on air now is he? He has a home provided for him at Charles’s expense. And apparently he has enough resources to go on holiday in France with a gf. My point is, the funding is ongoing. And that’s on top of the £12 million pay off to VG. The family have rallied around him in other words.

And yet KC is not prepared to do this for his own son? It’s odd imho.

I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say that H&M tried to destroy everything that KC has worked towards. That’s an exaggeration I think bc H wanted to continue to serve in some capacity while also doing some of their own projects.

I think it’s perfectly understandable that Meghan wanted to retain a degree of control over her own finances having always worked and been independent. They could have worked out a solution that she did royal duties when in UK but could keep her pay from acting roles in USA? Or something similar?

If Harry is so insignificant as many argue on here, why would it matter?

If the monarchy want to continue then they may need to adapt to the modern world a little?

What, failing to protect us from Harry? What should they do, incarcerate him?

I don’t see them as victims in the larger scheme of things.

But H can’t escape the circumstances of his birth and they are not something he chose.

But why aren’t the RF paying them to go away given that they were so willing to do this for Andrew?

Because they will always want more. They don't want a grace and favour house with 250k a year to run it and pocket money.
They want a mansion, designer clothes, jewellery, unlimited money on demand, tax payer security and on top of all that they want to rub t he e tax payers nose in it. They also want equal billing as the monarch and heir.
They are greed personified and bone idle.

Isn’t that what this letter seeks to make clear though? That the Sussexes do not in any way represent et the Head of State or the government. It has been said on previous occasions as well. They have the right to state their opinion, unless you want to curb free speech. Short of locking Harry up, what do you want them to do? And I don’t think the Sussexes are as important on the international stage as you give them credit for. They are embarrassing yes but I’m pretty sure that most people know who to deal with. And it isn’t them

Elizabeth was right. Charles is not a good king. The royal family has been turned into an episode of EastEnders

Only by H & M.

Nobody cares about that any more. The marriage was miserable for them both and they both had affairs as a result. Clearly C&C are a committed couple.

Anyone else think all of this shows we'd be better off as a Republic. I couldn't imagine my younger children having to bow to their older brother. It just seems anachronistic and Harry and William are victims of this. Take away the royalty bit and they'd just be rich people with a fancy house, like the former royals in countries like Germany. They still do charity work.

Edited

No because the shear amount of work, money and effort to get rid of need for the monarch shaped hole we have in our consitutional set up would be extreme take away from other issues and there's no guarantee next system would be better.

Most of what the RF does do isn't part of any actaully needed role ie the charity bit and they could easily just slim down to very few - monarch who is needed for bits and heir next in line.

Plus if any changes are deem nessesary to the system parliment is soverign and can make any they want to - so they can skip people - have in past - or slowly change role and curbed powers - again have done it before.

TBH slow change and RF evolving is what's been happening for centuries anyway - I do think at some point we'll deal with the monarch shaped hole possibly after further whittling it down but do not think we are there yet and I do not think Harry antics have anything to do with it - there pleaty of RF members who have managed to move to private lives he could copy.

When did Elizabeth say Charles would not be a good king? Sorry I genuinely don’t remember this. I also don’t remember ever hearing Charles say anything about Diana or his mother. Even through “sources”. Do you have examples?

Smilesy, I think the pp you are responding to is muddling up QEII with Diana. Diana made that allegation about her ex-husband in the notorious Bashir interview, and possibly off the record too.

So we have to allow for extreme bias where that judgement is concerned, to say the very least.

But they didn’t work it out. They, I believe got the option of that (continuing acting) but it didn’t transpire. If it was other work? Then it would depend on the work…

As to the second paragraph? It absolutely doesn’t matter any more. He is insignificant to the RF in a professional capacity as he is a non working royal. As has had to be pointed out again.

I do think some things, not necessarily "the late Queen said Charles wouldn't be a good King", but some things, are take off AI which is very keen to please and comes up with some corking errors.
Sometimes, of course, people just get thoroughly muddled without outside help.

Couldn't care less as it has not and still does not affect me.

I just hope that KC can see both his sons, their families and his grandchildren.

Why do you care?

I'm never in favour of 'policing' threads, but I wish a shorthand system could be adopted here. For those wanting to say the following things

1 Why do you care?
2 You don't know them!
3 Why do you let them live rent-free in your head?
4 Why are you attacking a young father/young couple?
5 Charles committed adultery with Camilla.
6 Camilla is not the Queen.
7 It's racism
8 Charles is a terrible father etc etc

Could we not just use a number system - just give the number? It would make filling in my bingo card much quicker.

Just a suggestion!

I don’t need to be a lawyer to know that it’s a fact that Harry lost both the security cases and his case against ANL ( daily mail ) .

They obviously feel there is no future for them in the USA. Meghan has got fed up with trying to make her jam business work. Harry has been reduced to paying events like talking to real estate agents. The money is pouring down the drain. I know - let's go back to the UK because I am a Prince 🤷‍♀️. Life continues in the UK. Harry sees himself as the People's Prince. He's deluded.

Exactly. I suspect too that re: security paid for by the British taxpayer he was told that as long as he remains living in the US there is no chance, because out of sight, out of mind, but if he returns to the UK then it will force the issue and he might just get what he wants. Since their life and reinvention in the US as huge royal stars has been a big, fat failure and they are hemorrhaging money with no ongoing source of replenishment, their only real option was to return.

I suspect Harry does want his kids to be educated here and to have English accents, but if they'd been a huge success in the USA I don't think for a second that they'd have washed up back here. When they were spilling their guts about the RF I don't think either of them, but particularly Meghan, ever intended to set foot back in the UK. This must be her worst nightmare! Yet here they are.

He isn’t capable of seeing the bigger picture and that the bowing (which isn’t compulsory anyway) is a mark of respect to the job, not the person

He should be able to see that. He served in the army, where you have to salute people of higher rank.

Britain is just sloppy seconds for them unfortunately. They would never have left the USA if things were successful. I'm glad today's letter came out.
