King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

I am taking it to mean that should I have a hankering to get Meghan to open the village Xmas fair, it should be treated on the same basis as if I wanted to book Katie Price.

Also I think it’s not a good move tactically to strip a man of his titles so near to the next coronation, as it may give people ideas 😃 so H will be forever a prince and whether you a republican or a monarchist that is a far from ordinary title.

So, do you think he's been "stripped of his titles" or not?
You follow that by saying he "will forever be a prince".
That doesn't sound like being stripped of his titles to me.
As to speculating about the imminence of the "next coronation" - ie when Charles will die - with a laughing emoji seems rather distasteful.

No Harry hasn’t been stripped of his titles has he? He is still a prince. But many posters on these boards called for it to happen when Prince Andrew had his title removed.

And I didn’t intend any disrespect to King Charles at all. The laughing emoji referred to people suddenly realising that William could potentially be stripped of his title too, once they know it can be done to his brother.

I'm a bit confused as to why people are so strongly against Harry and Meghan's own decision to live as private citizens with their own interests that are completely unrelated to the duties of the royal family.

I don’t think anyone is against HAM living privately , it’s the fact that they are keen to give the impression that they are indeed working Royals ( as H himself claimed) , they undertake faux tours etc and are insistent on titles being used . Throw in the demand of 24/£ armed taxpayer funded security and it is clear that they see themselves very much as Royals on a par with W and C.
There was no need to announce their return to the U.K.
There was no need to plant stories about their intentions or allow sources to speak to the media .
I have no idea ( although I could guess) why they have returned to the place that - allegedly- made M suicidal and made them both so unhappy .

cheezncrackers · 08/09/2026 09:35

And marrying and deceiving your wife when you are knowingly in love with someone else is an entirely different and more serious matter, compared to someone entering in to a marriage in good faith. That can hardly be described as your average divorce!

And yet it was Diana who cheated on Charles long before he went back to Camilla. Saint Diana wasn't much of a saint in the faithfulness stakes!

Not true. Charles cheated first. That is what Diana said and Charles did not deny it when she was alive. It's only since she died he has claimed it was her. Just as he has claimed all kind of things about Elizabeth

IcedPurple · 08/09/2026 09:37

Not another Diana derail! Please!

Viviennemary · 08/09/2026 09:38

I just saw on the news this morning Prince George starts at Eton today. I wouldn't be surprised if H & M had planned some sort of press release today about Archie and Lilibet's schools.

It has now been clearly stated that they are private individuals who can do business and charity work like anybody else without the scrutiny and intrusion linked to being a working royal.
The media will hopefully focus on the 'working' royals now that they can no longer hide behind the excuse of a supposed ambiguity around H&M roles.

Indeed

Elizabeth was right. Charles is not a good king. The royal family has been turned into an episode of EastEnders

Don’t think it started under KC reign.
But I do think he’s the one who is making the hard decisions, choosing indulging his wayward son over the monarchy would have made him a bad king.
Why should Henry’s hurty feelings dictate the future of the monarchy?
It’s not as if Henry didn’t know how it all works.
although having said that maybe he didn’t.
says more about Henry than it does KC

I agree! I was wondering why their fans seem so outraged that Harry and Meghan will live private lives, unrelated to the work of the royal family and in no way representative of the royal family or the King. They are perfectly free to carry on with their own charity and commercial endeavours. It makes no sense that their fans are somehow offended by this. Most of their fans don't even like the monarchy anyway, so they should be pleased with this clarification.

I don’t believe Charles has ever “claimed” anything a bout Diana. He wouldn’t deny it because he wouldn’t comment at all as per the MO of the RF. And what kinds of things has he “claimed” about Elizabeth (I presume you mean HMTLQE2)?

eta When did QE2 say he wasn’t a good king? Was she clairvoyant?

Oh come on! Charles has never shut up. Look at his latest statement about Harry and Meghan.
He did not deny it when Diana said he had an affair first, because she would have shouted even more about her proof,

Elizabeth said Charles would not be a good king. She was rightly

As soon as Elizabeth was buried, there have been stories from sources blaming her for everything around Andrew, even though Charles also protected and continues to protect Andrew. Charles appears to excel in using the dead to bolster his own reputation. Odious man.

They obviously feel there is no future for them in the USA. Meghan has got fed up with trying to make her jam business work. Harry has been reduced to paying events like talking to real estate agents. The money is pouring down the drain. I know - let's go back to the UK because I am a Prince 🤷‍♀️. Life continues in the UK. Harry sees himself as the People's Prince. He's deluded.

Why does a British citizen, with kids that have dual nationality, has to justify coming back to his home country?
We don't know what is happening behind the scenes and will probably never know.
The fact that some royalists don't like them and don't want them here is irrelevant. Most people in this country are not royalists. They might not actively seek to bring down the monarchy and be apathetic to the whole thing, but still.
Charity is not something that only royals can do.
Same goes with what the press named quasi- royal tours(ex. Angelina Jolie). I am glad that there is finally more clarity around this through this statement.
The pathetic sense of glee around them finally being put in ' their place' is really hilarious and these people are really going to have a brutal awakening.

What is that brutal awakening going to consist of ? I'm curious ..considering you say none of us know what is going on behind the scenes?

When did Elizabeth say Charles would not be a good king? Sorry I genuinely don’t remember this. I also don’t remember ever hearing Charles say anything about Diana or his mother. Even through “sources”. Do you have examples?

No one has said that charity is something only royals can do. What has been said is that only working royals can do so whilst representing the monarch (which is what working means in this context)

Which people?

And what will be brutal about their awakening?

I remember someone else mentioning ‘glee’.

But harry and Meghan don't represent the, monarchy. So they are just doing charity visits.

LaMarschallin · 08/09/2026 10:01

The word "frothing" is used a lot here but I don't think I've ever seen properly before.
That's if "frothing" consists of being so annoyed and thwarted that posts don't make sense and are full of non-sequiteurs, unfinished sentences and inaccuracies because the keyboard is being hammered with such fury.
I understand that incorrect SPAG can happen to anyone and for many reasons, but it's definitely on the rise too.
And, amazingly, posters are forgetting to say how much they're laughing at everything and failing to put in rows of weeping-with-laughter emojis.

Yes I know that 🙄 That is what Charles letter was making clear because there is obviously some confusion as to the Sussexes status. Which is what we are all taking about

Im not making things up, I said I believe they’d do that - Megain sums up Rachel, not my making, I believe it came straight from BP staff

damnatiomemoriae · 08/09/2026 10:07

Just doing charity visits?

I would think charities would do well to consider how having H&M associated with their charity would affect them. Short term and long term.

Sentebale, Africa Parks, Invictus have hardly had wholly positive experiences. In fact the very opposite would appear to be true.

I think an association with H&M may well be detrimental to their ‘brand’.
