Well no, because a school won’t have to ask for privacy for specific students because all students will have the expectation of privacy. That is why them being famous is irrelevant. So no it doesn’t need to be explained because it is incorrect to say that a school needs to ask for privacy specifically for the Sussexes

That's actually one reason I'm a little bit uncomfortable with the wording of the letter that went out from the school (if indeed that was the real letter).

A letter reminding about the safeguarding/social media policies is one thing. A letter specifically referencing famous or well-known people joining the school sounds like it might have been sent at the request of the Sussexes, and makes me a little concerned that the school may be setting themselves up for difficulties.

I have some experience of a situation where parents were treated slightly differently because they were considered to be in a 'special situation' and allowances had to be met; looking back over several years that meant that boundaries were gradually but steadily pushed so that the situation ended up being very difficult.

Better not tell anyone I was also a member of the Tuffty club, I will be banned for life!

🤣 I’m afraid you are alone on that one Bigwilly! , although I was obsessed with bagpuss and mr Ben!

Lunde · 02/09/2026 12:45

There were several news stories yesterday in HAM-favourable outlets saying that Meghan was scared to do the school run without armed police protection

Personally I think it's just another angle they are attempting to get their security back but tugging on the heartstrings by using the kids - I presume they would have their private security team

They're so desperate.
It's actually quite sad, and not great for the kids.

It really is outrageous. They really are scuppering any chance of their children thriving in the UK

I didn't say they needed to I said why they may. have sent the letter. The school sent out a letter recently and it was reported as probably being a result of the Sussex children joining. Maybe it's just coincidental, but you'd have to ask the school why they sent it.

There was complete relevance to what I said and if people hadn't been so determined to disagree over something that is quite obvious this conversation wouldn't have continued to the morning. You seem determined to score a point with your itallics and condescencion because you know I'm right that Harry and Meghan are famous. He's the song of the king of england of course he is.

We could carry this on but it's better if we just leave it here. I don't want to get into a back and forth.

Yes happy to leave it there. Not point scoring. Just trying to clarify. I wasn’t saying they were not famous. Of course they are. I was questioning the relevance of this is all 🤷‍♀️

I think it’s because MM is even here or if she is has zero intentions of ever doing the school run ot being seen in public on Salty Island. Shes managing expectations to avoid the ‘where’s Meghan’ media. Odd that she is claiming it’s not safe for her to drive to school in a bullet proof car with security detail - whilst PH is secure enough to be announce to be standing on any and every exposed playing field watching Archie play rugby for the next 15 years. Very easy to get hold of fixtures and locations which have zero security.

Its all a load of BS because she either isnt here or isnt staying long.

That's the worst part. They've chosen a life of fame and publicity; they're middle aged adults.
The children haven't chosen this. It's not good.

Is the suggestion that the children will be fine if she's not there, but that her preference will require armed police to keep her safe?

If I thought the only safe way for me to take my children to school would be if accompanied by armed police protection, then they wouldn't be going to that school.

Any links to these reports? It all sounds baffling and nonsensical.

Yes closet is very American and of course there's another common usage.

Perhaps MM can launch some lingerie under the brand name:

“The Duchess of Gusset.”

Apparently she never did school run in Cali. It was either the nanny of H (if he was awake). She was never seen at the school. Never got involved in sports days, etc. H/ nanny did.

Obviously we don't know but I really don't think Meg is a hands on parent at all. Her conversations regarding her children, parenting etc is bizarre and stilted. Being a mom is her super power etc

If only Oliver Postgate was still with us. I'm sure The Hams could have been a marvellous stop-frame animation with a lovely, cosy narration.

I'm a years-long MN poster, you can check with MNHQ, I have dyslexia and thinking I'm a troll doesn't make me right. You said there were more famous families there than Harry, and that isn't something you can back up. Suggesting someone is a troll or a derailer is deflecting.

Famous or nationally/politically sensitive?

There are many children of presidents or royalty who are educated in Britain without all of this drama - mostly because their PR's don't announce itineraries and they don't constantly feed the beast by placing stories with friendly journalists on the HAM WhatsApp group

For example - Recently the heirs to the actual thrones of Spain and Belgium did their 6th form years at a school in Wales. Was there any drama or even much publicity?

Malia Obama used to spend college holidays with her boyfriend in Islington without drama or incident.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 02/09/2026 13:07

I know someone who reported to RAVEC, and it's been in the news that there were genuine plots/convictions related to Meghan.

However, my friend's capacity was to report on the MH characteristics of those threatening/with an obsession. E.g. did they have harmful intent, did they have capacity to plan and commit harm? Other risk factors such as false trails (catfishers convincing people that Meghan/Catherine/Eugenie etc are in love with them and them coming to interrupt the wedding). Then the overall character of culture that influences the mentally unwell/extremists when they form obsessions.

And I sincerely doubt that the risks that were present in 2018-23 are the same now. BLM occupied a lot of cultural bandwidth then, but the current space is occupied by Israel v Palestine. Ham aren't entirely neutral in that space, but they rank much further down the list of obvious targets for it.

And beyond all that, "being frightened" isn't really an assessable criteria compared to "actual threat".

Lunde · 02/09/2026 13:09

PoppysAunt · 02/09/2026 11:59

This is the difference.
Do any of us know what school Keir Starmer's children go to?
No. Funny how they've been able to keep that private.

Do we even know their names?

Of course they don't have scented candles to remind us of their names and ages - although I can't think who buys candles that smell like a 7 year old boy ... it's a bit creepy

NO!!!!!! It does and…… NO!!!!

I know. I feel your pain! Let's tell ourselves that he'd had some terrible previous experience which explained his paranoia. I mean - no-one would have dreamt of staring at him.

(sorry folks - just referring to something a few pages back, not HAM-connected)

Lunde · 02/09/2026 13:11

CoffeeCantata · 02/09/2026 12:06

I know who you mean....but it's not him! I think you mean the chap who came to fame in Withnail?? I like him and my sister sat in front of him at a ballet and said he was lovely with lots of friendly chat for a little girl sitting nearby and a smiley demeanour.

No, the chap I'm on about (I really, really rate him as an actor) is....er...does Wolfie Smith mean anything to you? I don't want to say his name!

Power to the People?

In respect to me, I didn't make an unholy row. I said something that many people disagreed with and I responded. As is allowed.

And as this shows, I certainly haven't ceased communications. I just know that MNHQ on the last thread asked for there not to be extended back and forths.

But of course I'm sure you are not referring to me and this post is coincidental Smile

Agreed. The Sussexes really don’t seem to understand that most things in life that need a practical solution can’t be based on “feels”, but need evidence to show there is a need. I’m pretty sure it’s not so much that they are frightened but that they feel the need to look important anyway 😆

I've addressed this specific point upthread. Famous. Only famous. Public name recognition. Not nationally/politically sensitive. I've already agreed there's likely to be children at the school whose situation is more politically sensitive.

I think what Meghan is really scared of is a) being ignored, which in the UK would be the polite response to a celeb encountered in everyday life and b) possibly being snubbed? Perhaps she's been told that the demographic in teh Cotswolds is likely to be conservative and royalist and she fears backs being pointedly turned, or similar?

I think that under that flashy, over-confident exterior there's probably a very insecure woman who doesn't really know WHO she is, and the outward badges of success: smart clothes, royal husband, loads of securidee etc give her confidence to be that strange construct 'Meghan Markle' (or Sussex...). I think she probably fears being just another mum at the school gates and having to be her actual self, whatever that might be!
