I think H also has an attitude of "Whatever Harry wants Harry gets"

Yeah, they're not going to do that. If they had denied him St. George's Chapel he would have been free to get married anywhere he wanted. Maybe in some random hotel in LA with the rights sold to People magazine. All sorts of questions asked as to why Harry's family weren't there. Not worth it. And again, at the time they probably had little idea what a loose canon Meghan would turn out to be. Easy to say with hindsight.

i imagine school in Cali was stabilising for them but they pulled that on them. If kids don't make high profile connections for HAM, they'll move schools

I don’t think that would have been well received either. It would have been spun as the RF blackmailing Harry and his fiance and not listening to them or some such nonsense. I don’t think the RF felt they needed to be heavy handed and insist on conditions for the engagement because they couldn’t possibly foresee not meeting Thomas as the issue it became, or any of the ensuing shenanigans. Presumably they wanted to think the best of Harry and Meghan 🤷‍♀️

Agree - the story would have been told as them being treated very differently to how all other members of the RF had been treated before, obviously because of racism.

This was all during the time, we now know, when there was a lot of family tension, disagreements about arrangements (tiara, dresses) and Harry was phoning the Queen and shouting down the phone, such that she started to make sure she had someone with her when he called.

If the late QE couldn’t persuade H and M to go over and speak to TM then i don’t know what else could be done . As others have said , anything other than a grand wedding would have been declared racist .

No, I haven't read that. I hope it's true though. Even if M only does it through gritted teeth to stay in Charles's good books, it would be a relief to Thomas Markle who I think has been unfairly punished.

I had read that HAM had been urged to go over to TM before the wedding and that the royals had suggested people who could go or accompany them who'd help him out. But as pp have said, if they kept refusing, the MIGS could hardly frogmarch them to the airport and put them on a plane.

Of course KC could extend an invitation to TM and send people over to accompany him to the U.K. .

The Getty reference is to Gordon Getty as there were strong rumours that Meghan may have been involved with him a couple of years ago, shortly after his wife of 55 years died (nobody knows if it was money or more) - meetings in hotels/sighted having lunch - until his children intervened.

However this blind is about HAM's sudden close relationship with the billionaire Waces as they visited Ian Wace's ultra private island back in July when they visited the UK and it is rumoured that he is lending them a house in the UK.

Ian Wace's current wife (his 3rd) - former model Saffron Aldridge - has Epstein connections and features in the black book. She also has strong Soho House connections. She is apparently a long time friend of Meghan's.

Ian Wace's first wife and children died tragically in a car crash. They had spent the weekend in Devon and were driving back to London in 2 cars - he was in the first car and his wife and their two very young children were in the car behind. Wace was the witness and said he looked in the rear view mirror and saw his wife suddenly swerve head on into a lorry.

He won’t listen to us, his brother, his dad or his friends.
We have got a family business and some inherited wealth so we are paying for everything for the wedding. His fiancée is very bossy about what she wants -yes, I know it’s her wedding but I find her very rude to people.
Anyway, our grandaughter is also getting married this year and we are paying for that too, Because she’s my blood I gave her first refusal on wearing a piece of my jewellry on her wedding day. She picked a nice piece I got from my mother which has emeralds in it. Of course then our grandsons fiancée said she wanted to wear it too. I told her no.
My grandson then phones me up -the next day- and shouts at me. He said “What Xxxxxxx wants, xxxxxxxGets!!’. I had to tell him she could pick something else to wear but grandaughter had already ‘bagged’ that piece. He wasn’t happy.
His older brother is married to a lovely girl and he will one day be CEO of the family business. The company rules state there can only be one CEO - grandson and his fiancée want me to change them (God! The paper work! The legal bill!) so they can both be CEOs too! I’ve told them no but they are not happy and just want more and more money!
Now he phones me up with demands and shouts at me. It’s got so bad I had to ask my friend and my cleaning lady to be here when he phones as he’s so horrible and it’s so upsetting. His granddad isn’t very well and I’m worried .
He has now also started demanding money off his father, my son, and he wants to move into my holiday cottage (we call it ‘the castle’ because it’s in Windsor!) and wasn’t pleased when I told him no, I use it with his grandad on a weekend.

I wont let his fiancée boss me about -although she tries- and I wont deny I’m worried about my grandson. He seems to be very much in love with her - whatever ‘in love means’ -but I don’t think it’s quite as mutual. I think she’s using him but I can’t prove it.
My cousin says he’s abusing me when he’s shouting. Is he? Is this elder abuse?
I just don’t know what to do anymore. I wondered about asking ‘Age Concern’ for advice.

At this point I think that both Eugenie/Sarah F and Meghan had a hand in the leak that led to the Ruth Styles article (Compton). This we know she then used to provoke Harry into announcing her as his girlfriend and blah blah racism blah blah paparazzi blah blah William agrees. Looking back, it was choreographed.
