If there is a split, it’s not being instigated by Meghan. Though, she already goes by her divorced title.

Its not too hard to see that in a few years time, Harry could be with some posh aristo type 10/15 years younger than him.

BasiliskStare · 22/08/2026 21:29

I reckon they had decided to come back just before this was published . If true the tone of M's comments sounds a little unpleasant to me . Of course KC can't stop them moving here but at least he has said they are private citizens, so Megxit really hasn't been undone.

closeronline.co.uk/celebrity/news/meghans-blunt-message-for-kate-as-king-charles-signals-megxit-could-be-undone/

If true (& I really hope it isn't), but if it is - it really shows how ill informed and clueless Meghan is about the BRF. And reinforces how short-sighted they both are.

William is going to be King, Catherine will be Queen. This is going to happen sooner rather later. H&Ms entire positions and stylings are at the discretion of the Monarch.

There is nothing they can secure now via Charles that William cannot later undo.

Stupid Stupid Stupid

MaturingCheeseball · 23/08/2026 10:13

@ShamedBySiri - I thought your Zara scenario brilliant! Straight out of the cf playbook: any excuse skilfully countered, nay, bulldozed straight through.

People are always saying M has a thin skin, and yes she does “clap back” at things and reputedly has a related “war room” in Montecito - but… surely anyone sensitive or with an ounce of ability to reflect would not again and again and again pop up like a whack-a-mole after repeated self-inflicted humiliations?

Choux · 23/08/2026 10:26

weegielass01 · 23/08/2026 09:24

It'll be for financial reasons but also sneaky reasons too - I reckon Harry is trying to force the hand of ravec / KC3 by saying I'm here now, whatcha going to do about it? After all KC3 only found out last Sunday that they were coming back.
I don't see it as a permanent move though and I can't see them being popular back here, however, Brits are not the type to publicly boo them. They may turn up at events out of sheer curiousity, not out of love for them.
DSis who lives in America (and has friends in Montecito) says they are loathed.

I think they are definitely trying to force the security question and, when turned down by RAVEC, they will play on A and L being the king’s grandchildren and try to get KC to provide housing in the Windsor compound. The kids will have to move school again if they are enrolled in a Cotswold school but c’est la vie.

The request puts KC in an awkward position because Bea and Eug have homes in Royal compounds so either he will have to give HAM a home or turf out Bea and Eug. Who pays the rent? I think HAM will agree to pay it as then they are living at Windsor so visibly more back in the fold plus won’t need to pay as much on security. Then they are ready to continue with filming a Netflix doc about the move back, how the upper class in the UK live, Harry’s invictus work, Diana’s 30th anniversary etc. Like a royal adjacent Keeping Up with the Kardashians!

flapjackfairy · 23/08/2026 10:29

Is it just me or with reference to the international bases it keeps summoning up visions of a nuclear bunker secretly accessed by the fountain in Montecito gardens. You know the kind of thing ...reminiscent of James Bond or Despicable Me !
It just sounds so ridiculously pompous

But if they live in Royal accommodation, they can’t have a film crew in tow . At first I was surprised they weren’t demanding KP or somewhere equally opulent until I realised what they are probably up to .
KC really needs to get a grip on this .

Carrierbagseverywhere · 23/08/2026 10:30

I really believe the visa issue is at the heart of this move, with the financial troubles, homesickness, education for the kids, no friends/life/success in Montecito contributing factors but not the deciding one.

Having navigated the US visa system, along with many friends who have done the same, (all with shit hot lawyers who work for big multinationals) it really isn’t easy, and something like drug use can and will get you denied or deported. Put Trump into the mix and it’s a recipe for disaster.

I think they have been forced into this move with Harry having to get out of the country ASAP. Neither wants to split (yet) so they all move back here, but know that this will never work for Meghan so have already got the wheels in motion for her to spend time in other places.

Yes - she has made being a mother a huge part of her identity, but I don’t believe for a second she would ever want to be a single mother, at least not with an ex who can’t set foot in the country she and the DC live in. She is far too self-centred, and while being a parent requires huge sacrifice and selflessness, being a genuinely solo parent requires much more and I just don’t think she’s capable of that.

Conversely, I actually think Harry could throw himself into solo parenting so even if she was at their “international bases”, he could and would step up to do what his DC needed. He would, of course, always have the financial security of his family to be able to do that, whereas Meghan wouldn’t.

It's clicks. The BTL comment lets the publisher know that the public has often read between the lines (or the lies) and so they keep churning it out and watch the money roll in while the readers froth.
It isn't life&death news. If it's incorrectly reported, so what? Proper journalists prefer to spend their time on important stuff, not inconsequential relatives of the king acting like wankers. But they are obviously happy for the wankers to provide their salaries.
In the same way that HaM is also happy to have the taxpayer (me, you) pay his salary.
They are all money-grubbing, vulgar arseholes without a shred of decency.

"Proper journalists" - for the DM, no less - were what finally did for one inconsequential relative of the king acting like a wanker.

I hope that the same journalists are looking into the visa allegations and the allegations of charity grift.

(The judge initially gave as a reason for not allowing full, unredacted documents being released that individuals had a right to privacy regarding incidents they disclosed that they might feel embarrassed about if revealed publicly. Given that H had already, unashamedly, put details of his drug usage into his book, what else has he got to be ashamed of?)

I thought they left because they didn’t want the press intrusion and public curiosity
This cannot be turned on and off like a tap as Diana found out in the harshest of manners
Meghan will only stick around long enough for the inheritance from Charles and then be off citing security Bla bla

The inheritance if there is any, (as everything passes to William.) Anything set aside for h will be ringing fenced so will not be part of divorce unless it is put into joint account and becomes joint money. KC and his legal team are never going to allow that. As Ferguson found out, her divorce settlement was on AMW navy salary and a home provided for her.
The hams were married in UK h will be resident in UK so can't use California gold digger laws. Though I would expect KC to pay her off (like hmtlq did with fergie and VG) and that will start the never ending blackmail of our head of state.

CathyorClaire · 23/08/2026 10:34

Does anyone know what happened to the money from the Archewell Foundation? There was around $8 (?) million in the accounts published last December when they closed the Foundation and it was meant to be transferred to the new organisation but since then it has been crickets

Given we've never been told how Royal Foundation funds transferred to Travalyst (and thus beyond official scrutiny) via a series of short-lived bodies were disposed of I'm not holding my breath for any transparency on Archewell.

After KC goes I think it's time to plan phasing the RF out in its current form.

I agree although I think it would have been better to end it four years ago while they were on a high.

C3 was never going to give up his chance at the top job though but I do wonder if he sometimes wishes he had.

Charles will be ring-fencing that inheritance with water-tight trust fund stuff.

Never. It's been his life's work leading up to this, it's very important to him.

My thoughts are -

  1. Hello shoot of kids faces, with a usual HaM spin like “We wanted the kids’ faces to be seen on our terms” not of course for money ;)

  2. They will be at Xmas walk. KC is head of the Church of England and will have to practice forgiveness. I’ve already seen a letter from some Vicar in a paper, saying that KC must let H&M back in the fold.

The fact that H&H moan on about security is in itself a security problem! Who here knew before all this knew that the Royal family didn’t have protection when they were not on Royal duties?

Also where the Tindle kids go to school is now widespread public knowledge.

If I was the Tindles and thought the Hamlets were coming to my kids’ school, I’d be having a discreet word and telling the school I’d be pulling my kids out. I could guess whose side the school would be on!!

This is all on KC. He should have removed their titles, taken them off the Royal website and stopped enabling them.

They were an amusing soap opera when they were so far away but seeing their faces on all the newspapers, magazines and tv news is irritating as hell. Even my 87 mum rang me and had a huge half hour moan about them! I’ve never even mentioned them to her before!!

i genuinely feel they are a huge threat to the monarchy, and feel sorry for PW having to deal with shit show!

This is all going to end in tears.

Edited

I agree with you on the Tindall school thing.

I can't see a school that has attracted and successfully managed royal-adjacent children allowing the Sussex circus to swan in without saying a thing to the Tindalls about it. And what head would want to piss off Princess Anne?

Kipperandarthur · 23/08/2026 11:00

I wonder how it will all pan out and look like in 12 or 18 months?

One thing's for sure, there'll be a whole load of drama along the way.

Yes Camilla Long is brilliant. The ‘Buckingham Palace of the North’ comment is particularly good. Perhaps that is their strategy but honestly, I don’t think the Cotswolds set, whether the celebrity set or the old money country set, will be welcoming them with open arms.

IMHO, the old money country set will freeze them out...they don't need the HaMs and they want the multi-generational relationships with the Crown via William and George. You don't get to remain old money without teaching each generation how to choose the winning side.

But the celebrities will initially embrace HaM and then have spectacular fallouts as the HaMs have not changed one iota and will treat celebrity relationships as transactional. Just like in America, the celebrity "friends" will eventually walk away from HaM's unnecessary drama-llama nonsense.

I haven't even caught up from the last one yet!

Thanks for the new thread

Same, paradoxically the more actual news there is, the less I find it interests me. It's like picking a scab is sort of pleasant but having a major wound is not.

I'm still pondering whether HaM are in cahoots with certain outlets for a percentage of the click revenue. Although the DM seems unlikely.

Paying off the court case bill, one click at a time.

Like doing the washing up in a restaurant when you can't pay the bill?! 😁

Cocolapew · 23/08/2026 08:26

When it comes to these 2 the media seems happy to publish any old shit, if its not true just backtrack a couple of days later.

They don't even backtrack much of the time, Cocolapew, but just spout the next batch of crap and hope people will forget the previous lot

And while I've stopped reading most of them, just how many "articles" have the Times put out on this? I realise it's all money to them (and thanks to those who've shared tokens so the rest of us don't have to pay for their rubbush) but isn't it getting a bit silly now?

Spot on as usual, My2cents1975

The only thing I'd add is that "old money" are the types Harry enjoyed being around, so if they drop him he'll be in yet another bind ... and as I think you posted yourself, this isn't going to end well

If they drop him? I think it’s when he realises they have dropped him. Harry thinks or hopes he can get back to the position he left 6 years ago with regards to friends and family. He has a very rude awakening coming for all the reasons @My2cents1975 mentioned.

A very valid point, Choux, and I really should have wriiten if he realises rather than if it happens

If it's true he's coming back he'll realise all too soon though, and while A listers dropping them in a land which isn't "his" is one thing, the same happening among those he once considered friends could be quite another

You'd think he'd have thought about this before pitching into the ones they'll naturally want to stay "in with", but thinking appears beyond him
