They are very thin skinned. If they aren’t instantly received with flowers and sweets by the British plebs, they won’t stick around and play the long game. Maybe H will, but M
won’t. If she hated the UK in 2018 when she had crowds cheering her in the street, how is she going to cope now, post OW and the NF documentary. I doubt we will see her in public here.

Although it's more grist to the victimhood mill.

I agree with you. I doubt we’ll see them walking 4 abreast though.

Probably not, for the very good reason that William and Catherine always stay close to the younger children as they walk in, I presume as reassurance in the face of the crowds.

GoodnessGraciousMeh · 23/08/2026 08:53

I agree. She essentially has no template for mothering . So she acts the part of a good mother without having a clue what that means. Unfortunately Harry had a very chaotic upbringing himself with an emotionally immature mother and a largely absent father. Neither of them understand what a functional healthy family life is.

But surely you learn from your parents’ mistakes ?
I didn’t have a great childhood ( mother who openly said she never wanted me) yet I have managed to produce - IMO- 3 pretty amazing well balanced adult DC who I am close to plus DGC .

Good points. Very few of us had perfect parenting. I have consciously tried to be different to my parents. Like you, I wanted mine to have a better childhood than I did. However, that takes effort, determination, reflection and - dare I say it - intelligence.
Not some crazy privileged quasi royal upbringing with parents seeking constant publicity and validity.

StrawberryWasp · 23/08/2026 09:15

I'm sure M&H imagine they are great parents righting the wrongs from their own childhoods.
It's very hard to see your own failings and much easier to see your parents failings.

Isn't it? Mine are adults now, and we do reflect that mistakes were made. However, as they are successful, independent adults and not whining, petulant, greedy fools it's obviously mostly worked.

I actually find it easy to believe . Meghan cares about one person - Meghan .

Agree, kids would be baggage for her especially if she is hawking a divorce book! Leave them with the RF to raise and she can sail back in when they are more useful.
Looking for an old billionaire husband is easier solo.
This is the same woman who returns rings by post, doesn't look back. H will not be as polite or gentlemenly as her previous conquests.

Maybe he won't remember who she is.

Guy Ritchie is friends with William so he will not want to piss him off .

I wonder if Guy Ritchie assumed (in the world where any of this actually happened) that if Meghan got the part she'd commute over for short periods for filming. Never imagining that it would lead to this 'moving back, kids enrolled in school, already got our flat caps and Daylesford accounts set up!' turbo speed developments.

Mylovelygreendress · 23/08/2026 09:22

So many people suggesting that M is on the lookout for a billionaire.
She is a middle aged woman with a LOT of baggage and a reputation for being a bully and a liar .
Is she really a catch ?

NewAchievement · 23/08/2026 09:24

My thoughts are -

  1. Hello shoot of kids faces, with a usual HaM spin like “We wanted the kids’ faces to be seen on our terms” not of course for money ;)

  2. They will be at Xmas walk. KC is head of the Church of England and will have to practice forgiveness. I’ve already seen a letter from some Vicar in a paper, saying that KC must let H&M back in the fold.

The fact that H&H moan on about security is in itself a security problem! Who here knew before all this knew that the Royal family didn’t have protection when they were not on Royal duties?

Also where the Tindle kids go to school is now widespread public knowledge.

If I was the Tindles and thought the Hamlets were coming to my kids’ school, I’d be having a discreet word and telling the school I’d be pulling my kids out. I could guess whose side the school would be on!!

This is all on KC. He should have removed their titles, taken them off the Royal website and stopped enabling them.

They were an amusing soap opera when they were so far away but seeing their faces on all the newspapers, magazines and tv news is irritating as hell. Even my 87 mum rang me and had a huge half hour moan about them! I’ve never even mentioned them to her before!!

i genuinely feel they are a huge threat to the monarchy, and feel sorry for PW having to deal with shit show!

This is all going to end in tears.

weegielass01 · 23/08/2026 09:24

It'll be for financial reasons but also sneaky reasons too - I reckon Harry is trying to force the hand of ravec / KC3 by saying I'm here now, whatcha going to do about it? After all KC3 only found out last Sunday that they were coming back.
I don't see it as a permanent move though and I can't see them being popular back here, however, Brits are not the type to publicly boo them. They may turn up at events out of sheer curiousity, not out of love for them.
DSis who lives in America (and has friends in Montecito) says they are loathed.

Interesting, in what way are they loathed? What are people saying?

Lifestooshort71 · 23/08/2026 09:27

I think H would totally fall apart if M officially left him, in his eyes, he will see it that he gave up everything for her, but there could well be some sort of uncoupling that will be so vague he may not even notice for a while! I do think he will put the children first though which would mean a settled education.

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 23/08/2026 09:27

I think the only people who will ever welcome M at public events in the UK (other than those who are paid to do so) are those who are so deep into believing her racism claim that they blind themselves to her behaviour because she is a “poor victim” who must be supported no matter what.

Obviously a few members of the press made racist comments back when she was H’s girlfriend, and Danny Baker was later rightly denounced and became persona non grata for his horrid cartoon, but overwhelmingly the press (and the reception from all of the British public) was extremely positive.

As for the RF there is zero evidence of any racism but plenty of evidence of them going beyond any support and welcome ever offered to any other woman marrying in eg buying her ultra expensive designer clothes, invited to family events before the engagement, KC walking her down the aisle etc.

But for some, M’s mud slinging stuck just as she intended.

If she had accused anybody other than the RF I think she would have found herself facing a defamation case which she would have almost certainly lost.

Yes, those kinds of men look for a different kind of woman.

I do find their PR strategy somewhat frenetic these days. It’s all very tiresome..

They don’t have a strategy. That is a lot of their problem

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 23/08/2026 09:37

If Meghan was about to leave him, this move makes no sense for her. Staying in the US for the divorce would be better for her, she’d have the leverage of the children being resident in the US and settled in schools etc to win any battle and Harry would have to give her far more than 50% to get the dcs to the UK.

The stress of moving back might break them, but can’t see this being a strategy for her. Apart from anything else, being seen to have left her dcs won’t go down well with her core marker who love her “just a normal mom” act.

I reckon she’s moving because she doesn’t want to split up her family, not because she does. (And he really wants to move back.)

She certainly isn't a catch in most people's eyes, but an elderly billionaire has obvious attractions that Mrs Merton would be quick to spot. Rupert Murdoch is too canny and rumour has it that Getty's family wised up and put protective measures in place but I am sure there are other elderly, extremely wealthy men out there who are easily flattered and perhaps don't have a canny family keeping an eye on their inheritance their father.

I agree.
There are things I regret and would do differently.
But as mine are now stable independent adults with their own positive relationships I presume we did enough right.

Charles and Diana did not produce a stable independent adult who can maintain relationships in Harry.
But they did with William.
I guess parenting is not a science!

True, but obviously some of the basics were there. For all of their faults, Charles and Diana were loving and affectionate parents. What William did was take his time to make sure that he married the right woman, then committed absolutely to family life. He also actively engaged with therapy to ensure that he could both move forward as a productive royal, but also a good father.
That's the difference.

And the Middletons have helped massively to contribute to that calm, together family upbringing of the grandchildren, I feel.

Absolutely. Not relying on staff, but using the grandparents for childcare has been an excellent move. It just cements the family unit and models positive relationships.
