I imagine that whatever jewellery Diana had that was hers was divided equally between William and Harry, Harry had the engagement ring originally and swapped it for the Cartier Tank watch so Kate could have the ring.

From the article:

"In her will, Princess Diana left her gems to her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. “I would like you to allocate all my jewelry to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it,” Diana stipulated. “I leave the exact division of the jewelry to your discretion.”"

I'm not quite sure who it was that would have made the discretionary decisions though as you say, it's widely reported/accepted that Harry and William chose the ring and the watch and did a swap at a later date.

There are many other pieces that haven't seen the light of day since her death. Where are they? It's incredibly unlikely that Meghan wouldn't have flaunted recognisable pieces if she had them. So I think it more likely that they were returned to the crown and are stored in the Buckingham Palace vault. Especially wedding gift items which I suppose, arguably, could be said to belong to Charles after her death.

@Izzzzxxx Sorry I was being a bit tongue in cheek. You are absolutely right no-one knows what security Ravec have stipulated for the new arrangement (if any) nor whether it has yet been assessed.

Using the words "working" and "royal" in the same same sentence has always amused me.
It's hardly "work" to get transported to a place, cut a ribbon, shake a few hands and then transported back to their huge staffed mansions/palaces in time for tea 🙄

That's a not very interesting point. And one for a different thread - why not start one? This one's about other things.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/08/2026 10:25

I'm always amused by people who think the UK shouldn't have a head of state and, since our head of state is a ceremonial monarch, why other members of the royal family shouldn't play an assisting role. It's better than stuff like a First Lady

He appears never to work anything out, @bluegreygreen - I'm not sure he has the intelligence to - but it'll be amusing if he comes back then starts insisting he's "not like other non-working royals" so should be treated as a special case

Way to make an even bigger fool of himself Hmm

It's not got his wife parity with Catherine.

Or half the Duchy.

Why should his Dad and brother pay ?

Why on earth should we?!

There should be a national outcry if he got the security he is demanding. The front this prick has is unbelievable. He is bringing absolutely nothing to the table 👿

IAmATorturedPoet · 24/08/2026 11:00

I imagine MM will expect security when she is staying at one of their ‘international bases’.
Who would be covering that?
Does PH believe he has more chance of getting UK taxpayer funded security if they move here and then he only has to cover MM security costs when she is outside the U.K.

For sure they can’t afford security costs x 2.

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · 24/08/2026 11:00

I notice there is still no mention of the M’s ailing father ever meeting his grandchildren.

Strange that H’s supposedly “racist” father is worth a visit and reconciliation but M’s non racist one isn’t.

It seems much can be forgiven by this pair (of fucking grifters) if the price is right.

Well he hasn't even met his son in law yet. TM has served his purpose. Private education, acting gigs, etc. he's no longer needed

He's making himself so unpopular that he will probably end up needing security. Some deranged DM frother, will easily work out where he lives from an Instagram post and sneak in with ill intent.
It's almost like HaM are deliberately making themselves targets, just to get full security. They are dangerously stupid.
Their poor security staff. Supposed to lay ones life on the line for that ghastly pair.

Does AMW have security? I would absolutely believe he would be a target

SqueakyDinosaur · 24/08/2026 11:16

I believe AMW has private (i.e. non-armed) security paid for by the King.

To be fair, he definitely needs it. Someone has already been charged with trying to have a pop at him.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 24/08/2026 11:18

Problem is if he’s attacked, and I agree with @SweatyWarrenBetty- there has been a lot of winding up by DM and other papers, so it’s perfectly possible he would be attacked, or rather “evil Meghan” would be, the press will not put their hands up and say “yep sorry, we wound up unhinged people.” Instead they’ll deflect and run articles that “cruel Charles” or “grumpy William” ignored Harry’s pleas and it’s their fault he didn’t have security. That a Labour government minister is now the one who’d say no to security would also be a nice target for the right wing press.

Charles is now in a “dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t” position.

Totally agree.

But that's not how H sees it!

He's Harry! Prince Harry, don'tcha know? And there's gorgeous Meghan too.

I really think he imagines his old image and perceived charisma is fair exchange for all kinds of expensive privileges.

HoldMyWine · 24/08/2026 11:19

So after slagging all of us on Salty island off, insulting his family and on many occasions saying he no longer wants to live in the UK, he now wants to play at being ‘Prince of England ’ and expects us to pay for his security.
I am a mild monarchist but I am really cross that KC has not sorted this nonsense out. He has said no HIHO, but if PH gets his security funded by the public purse that is pretty much giving him what he wants.

BunnyBunbunbun · 24/08/2026 11:25

Regarding the security issue, in my opinion Harry is able and willing to pay for his own security in the UK. His issue, however, is that in the UK, and unlike in the US and many other countries, only state-provided security is able to carry firearms and he believes that his security needs are so great that he and his family require armed security protection. As armed private security isn't permitted in the UK, he thinks his only option is for the state to provide it.

I doubt he really requires armed security, but if he feels so strongly about the issue then he should stay in the US. Of course, if he is doing an engagement in the UK where he is deemed high risk, then he can request armed, state-provided security and his application will be assessed on its merits, but he won't get 24/7 armed security for him, Meg and the kids.

What exactly is Charles meant to have sorted out?

There should be, however there are plenty of people, who believe he and his family, should be given security, just because he is the kings son and don’t understand the nuances of his position or that Anne and Edward, also the late monarch’s DCs, only get security, when acting in their capacity, as representatives of the HoS.

You can’t explain to people, who don’t want to understand or to disruptors. It just isn’t possible. And there are plenty of disruptors.

KC is a Constitutional not an Absolute monarch.
Something Harry seems wildly ignorant about.

Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere · 24/08/2026 11:37

I will also be furious if the UK taxpayer has to pay anything for this pair.

Is there not a petition?

Lunde · 24/08/2026 11:38

Boudy · 24/08/2026 09:07

I feel really angry about this. His dad and brother have millions, they could stump up. It just highlights the complete and utter selfishness of HAM.Why should we pay for their whims?

Harry has millions - he inherited £8.5 million from his grandmother's trust fund less than 2 years ago. So add to the millions from Diana, earlier trust fund payments and earnings in the US

Somebody else continually paying off his stupid acts has got us where we are now - a middle aged man, with a huge sense of entitlement who thinks others should pay for his standard of living.

Starryfifty · 24/08/2026 11:39

If they get the full bells and whistles security, will that also apply to her international business travel ???
