I have to speak up in their defence (can’t quite believe I’m saying that!) with regards the move and then starting school very quickly after. That is totally normal in expat lives.

We moved on a Thursday and our DC started school on the Monday. We had only been in the country for 6 days, 6 weeks earlier on a recce and that was when we chose the school and did all the entrance tests etc. We bought uniform that recce week and then came back to the UK, sorted all our stuff, said our goodbyes, had Christmas in the midst of it, and then moved 3 weeks after Christmas.

We had a 3 month run up before our recce week, from when the idea was first touted out of the blue, but I know many, many others who have had much shorter run ups. Kids really are very adaptable and it is totally doable.

But they don't need to do it like this.

I completely understand moving countries, I have moved extensively, sometimes with short notice. Yes children are resilient - But that is never preferable.

They have plenty of money and no commitments. This didn't need to be done on the hop

StaySpicy · 23/08/2026 19:39

It's my feeling, probably wrong, but that Ham had this planned due to his visa issues and they visited a school/did uniform etc. during the week H was here (an aide went to buy it with measurements or they had someone visit Althorp with example sizes to try).

Then, because by then they knew the ANL costs were going to be released, saved the news for the same week so it would overshadow H's big loss. They'd have held onto the news until the best possible time to release it, they made that decision.

But he’s desperate for his children to be royal.

How that can work if their parents aren’t working royals, I can’t imagine.

A pp explained the parable of the Prodigal Son very beautifully.

A further excellent discussion regarding forgiveness and expectations with respect to William was posted on X.

William stand strong - people calling for “forgiveness” have no understanding of the meaning and are mostly just trouble makers.

“Today I asked the Pastor at my grandmother’s church a question about William and Christian forgiveness, and he sent me this response.

'It is incorrect and theologically incomplete to tell Prince William that “the Christian thing to do” is simply to forgive Prince Harry without any expectation of repentance or accountability.

Many people talk about Christianity without having properly read the Bible or fully understanding the faith. Welcome to my TED Talk.

Christian teaching on forgiveness is not a demand for unilateral, consequence-free absolution that ignores justice, truth, or the offender’s responsibility.

Scripture repeatedly links forgiveness to repentance. Jesus himself instructs, “If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him” (Luke 17:3).

The pattern in the New Testament is not passive erasure of wrongs; it is confrontation of the offense followed by genuine turning away from it.

To strip repentance out of the equation reduces Christian forgiveness to sentimental permissiveness rather than the costly, transformative act it is meant to be.

Demanding that The Prince of Wales extend blanket forgiveness while The Duke of Sussex continues to air grievances, publish damaging material, daily briefing the media, undermining and show no public acknowledgment of harm done to the family/his brother or the institution is not Christian charity—it is enabling.

Accountability is not the opposite of forgiveness; it is often its necessary precondition for reconciliation to be real rather than 'performative'.

In the parable of the unforgiving servant and in the broader biblical ethic, God forgives the repentant, not those who persist in justifying or monetising the offense.

Expecting William to pretend the breaches of trust, public attacks, & ongoing undermining never occurred—or to absorb them indefinitely without any reciprocal movement from Harry—places an asymmetric burden on William that Scripture does not require.

True Christian forgiveness does not mean the offended person must immediately restore full relationship, trust, or institutional privileges as if nothing happened. It means releasing any personal internal hurt feelings while still upholding truth and consequences.

William can choose not to be upset & still insist that meaningful repair requires Harry to demonstrate repentance—through acknowledgment of specific harms, cessation of further attacks or smeas, and concrete steps toward accountability.

That insistence is not un-Christian; it is consistent with the call to speak the truth in love and to protect the family from repeated injury. Pretending otherwise confuses grace with naïveté.

Adding further depth: many modern appeals to “just forgive because Jesus said so” selectively quote isolated verses while ignoring the larger biblical narrative of covenant, justice, & restoration.

The same tradition that commands forgiveness also contains strong language about confronting hypocrisy & protecting the vunerable.

In a family and institutional context as public and consequential as the monarchy, treating Harry’s actions as something William is morally obligated to absorb without any reciprocal change effectively prioritises one man’s narrative over the integrity of the whole.

Christian ethics does not demand that Prince William continually lower the bar for the sake of appearances.

Forgiveness offered in the absence of repentance may free the forgiver’s heart, but it does not create genuine long term reconciliation, and it is not the full counsel of the Christian faith on the matter.

William stand firm in requiring true repentance and accountability before any path to reconciliation is opened, for that is the only way forward that honours both justice and genuine Christian grace.

Do not let external voices pressure you into a hollow forgiveness that abandons truth; your strength in upholding these principles protects the integrity of your family and the institution you serve'”

Second part of the tweet:

”(Matthew 7:6) "Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.”

Jesus teaches discernment. Continuously offering trust, vulnerability, or relational investment to someone who repeatedly tramples it and turns against you is unwise. This supports healthy limits rather than indefinite absorption of attacks.

(Titus 3:10–11) "As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.”

After clear warnings, distance is permitted (and instructed) when someone remains divisive and unrepentant. Ongoing undermining does not require perpetual tolerance.”

As we have said, logic rarely comes into it.

I'm just speculating but when returning to the States after the July trip could he have been flagged at passport control giving them a heads up something may be happening in future in relation to his visa?

Or do private jet flyers completely skip all that ?

CathyorClaire · 23/08/2026 21:15

I could see M being besties with Ellen for a while

Didn't Ellen have Rachel rather humiliatingly drinking publicly from a baby bottle?

If a best mate (somehow and in an entirely different universe) had me doing that I think I'd be more than inclined to give 'em a swerve.

I think they still have to show passports etc . Remember it was reported that M was angry with an official at Seattle(?) airport when she flew back from Canada as he didn’t address her properly ( in her eyes).

BasiliskStare · 23/08/2026 21:27

@CathyorClaire I'm sure you would give them a swerve , as would I. I'm taking a wild guess though that you are not a fame-hungry , ligging , Cotswolds' Unwelcome New Tenant in your spare time. She needs to hang on to all the A listers she can get.

edit spelling.

Come to that, what happened to the cameo?
Presume it will see the light of day once "Close Personal Friends" is released.

If school starts in just over two weeks…..shouldn’t they be here already to settle the kids in?

A international move and start a new school days later seems to be the plan. How irresponsible is that

I feel so sad for these 2 children.
Their lives are about to turn upside down, with no preparation and no continuity in any aspect.
It's totally irresponsible.
