Following on... Why do people keep saying KC3 has shown bad judgement before? Other than his disastrous marriage, has he been misguided since then? His dealings with Harry seem to be very low key and I'm sure he's been advised that including Harry visibly would go down like a lead balloon with the public (and the rest of his family).
He has always known that once King, duty comes first. His mother lived by it.
I think he only met with Harry because not to do so would seem churlish. I suspect he dreaded it, if MM was also there. Can you imagine the atmosphere?

It's all been discussed endlessly on here before, but I can offer a few prime examples if you wish, and while some of it inevitably comes down to personal opinion a lot else doesn't

@Morelovelyandtemperate - I can indeed imagine the atmosphere when KC and HAM met!

I reckon it would have been icily polite, in that way that the British upper classes do so well. So the way they say words without saying much (there's a great book called People Like Us which examines this! https://www.amazon.co.uk/People-Like-Us-Season-Classes/dp/0349108528)

And quite a bit of time would have been taken up with "would you like tea? Lovely, so nice at this time of day" and "would the children like a biscuit?" and all of the faffing around pouring of tea, drinking tea and generally getting comfortable. I bet that took ages.

And they'd have either poured it themselves (unlikely) in which case that would have taken a while x 4 cups of tea for the adults and then drinks for the children OR a flunkey would have poured it, in which case no conversation would have carried on while that was being done. So there's a good 15-20 minutes gone of a one hour visit, just messing about with tea cups.

I have no inside knowledge, that's just "I reckon"

And before that, a very sharp rebuttal to H's claim that he'd be staying at BP.

H will pop up in S Korea for the 3-years-to-go Invictus Games visit.

Personally I'm a bit bored with nothing but tedious dribbles in people magazine et al so I hope a very large legal bill falls due soon to stir up something more interesting.

Wonder if we will merit some more sussex-o-matic bots to chide us for being horrid and paying the wrong sort of attention to poor old HAM.

And with two stranger-children there, lots of "how are you liking school? what's your favourite subject? do you help feed the chickens, too?" and all the coaxing out of answers. I could keep that going for a long time.

You'll then have the 'walk around the house/garden to see where your dad/uncle used to live/play' - which will take up quite a proportion of a tricky visit.

Apart from the other reasons for not wanting to have the visit in an 'official' royal setting, Highgrove was a very good idea.

I’m hopeful that Charles is just doggedly avoiding all of Harry Mountbatten Windsor’s demands. He’s a master of avoidance, he could probably keep this going for years.

Nice to see your new working moniker @TemuSussex I do think that it is a shame we can no longer name change mid thread. I appreciate it stops sock puppeting, but it also removes a very humourous aspect of MN.

I'm slightly losing interest. It's obvious that the official position hasn't changed and equally obvious that Harry has learnt nothing. How many more years of this are we facing?
