William denounced as "workshy" due to lack of royal engagements he performs

I read this article in the DM which was originally brought to my attention by my MIL, who has a very keen interest in goings-on involving the RF.

'His absences have not gone unnoticed': Norman Baker asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up https://mol.im/a/15908021

I must admit I was surprised to learn that William has attended fewer events than KC and Anne over the last 3 years. I agree with the sentiment that he needs to step up to ease the burden on his father.

NORMAN BAKER asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up

He might be a present husband and father, but when it comes to carrying out royal duties, the Prince of Wales is 'workshy', a royal expert has claimed.

Basically vanity project and personal profit then.

I’m sure the recipients of the prize worth £1m would not share your description of “vanity project”.

My bad. I thought I remembered he'd switched from geography to art history but it was the other way around. The official line was he'd struggled to adjust and I wondered if all university students would be supported like that. Deeply sceptical about the grade being truly deserved. I remember applying to unis at the same time as Edward and he got into Cambridge or Oxford with grades which would have been hard to get into a poly with. I had a lot of friends who did geography at a uni, many very brilliant and intelligent people, but the uni also had a lot of posh twits who couldn't get into Oxbridge, and certain geography options were very popular as easier options.

So it was all your wondering and imagination?

HortiGal · 25/06/2026 22:51

@Silverwombat It’s quite infuriating the way she is made to have had this tough battle, when it was preventative treatment she had, at no point was she at deaths door or facing a terminal diagnosis. All the fawning fans love the poor Kate she’s had it so hard, it’s insulting to those who have had terrible times.
I hope your wee one is doing well 🌸

For many of us, traditional ways of working changed dramatically following covid and we continue now as hybrid workers having developed successful ways of agile working. William is a modern working royal and a hybrid worker, just like a proportion of the population are

Wow 😆😆

No, I reversed his switch but the implication at the time he couldn't hack the original course and switched to something easier.

Not sure how that's my imagination as it was well documented at the time.

It was all very “This one time, at band camp.” So not exactly clear what you are trying to say.

You ran around with twits that couldn’t get into Oxbridge so therefore someone else must not have been able to hack their initial selection and switched but you don’t think he deserved his grades. Got it.

Isitevensummer · 25/06/2026 23:11

Suggest you work on you reading comprehension if you really can't understand. Otherwise you're just looking for an argument and that's too boring to engage with.

There’s nothing to argue about. You’re grasping at straws based on misremembered info and personal anecdotes in order to support a narrative that someone else lacks intelligence.

Similar with his other "projects This is a man who couldn't hack a geography degree-the chances he is actually in charge are minimal.

This is totally false! He graduated with a 2.1 !
why make up rubbish?

And the royals dont have a history of getting into universities with much lower grades than most people would need? Do you think they suddenly get cleverer when they are there? And do you really think there isn't pressure to give them an easy ride when it comes to grading? At a similar university, geography was notorious for including some easier options beloved by posh types who were not the sharpest. Theres no reason to think St. Andrews would be any different. And it's incontrovertible that he switched courses because of "failure to adjust" to the demands of his original course- ie he couldn't manage it.

What on earth is this long winded word salad about?
you were wrong, admit it , stop making up stories to fit your narrative!

Mcdhotchoc · 25/06/2026 23:35

That's the daily mail for you.
I ain't a royalist but if William sticks it out, he can't retire and will be in the saddle till he drops.
He is wise to take it easy now.

What are you hoping to prove with all this “don’t you think” kind of logic?

That William isn’t intelligent enough to work?

Do you have a job? Have you been in the world? Stupid people exist everywhere and even hold down jobs! So even if he were a blathering idiot (and there is zero evidence of this and plenty to contrary) that would not preclude him actually managing projects, making decisions, etc.

And what someone did 20 years ago at uni has fuck all to do with their capability and success today.

You sound really spiteful about people who do geography degrees. Did you have a bad break up
with a geography student?

I have to reverse course now. Down with geography students. My worst break up ever!! This just reminded me.

Why would I defend them?

So you were saying he switched to art history because he couldn’t hack geography, but now you’re saying he switched to geography because it’s easier than art history? And that being allowed to change courses (which happens a lot) was special treatment and he didn’t deserve the grade he got?

Recklessismymiddlename · 26/06/2026 05:49

I changed course at university ( over 40 years ago) when hardly anyone when to university, because I realised I was on the wrong course for me. My dc the same. My housemate also. We were all really well supported at doing so.

I didn’t realise we switched courses, because we were thick. My housemate to something to do with science- she ended up very high up in her field.

Something somewhere, is going on, as a lot of odd threads at the moment on these boards.

The sporting events where he is Patron and got criticised when he didn't attend? He really can't win.
