William denounced as "workshy" due to lack of royal engagements he performs

SpaEnjoyer · 25/06/2026 16:24

I read this article in the DM which was originally brought to my attention by my MIL, who has a very keen interest in goings-on involving the RF.

'His absences have not gone unnoticed': Norman Baker asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up https://mol.im/a/15908021

I must admit I was surprised to learn that William has attended fewer events than KC and Anne over the last 3 years. I agree with the sentiment that he needs to step up to ease the burden on his father.

NORMAN BAKER asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up

He might be a present husband and father, but when it comes to carrying out royal duties, the Prince of Wales is 'workshy', a royal expert has claimed.

Much of the Windsor farm shop hysteria stemmed from the fact that people were unwilling or unable to accept that video footage taken on a phone from the halfway down a car park is of very low image quality, and using AI tools to sharpen it doesn’t produce the actual underlying image, but rather what AI predicts it would be. Surprise, surprise, the AI prediction didn’t look that much like the Wales couple.

The same types of people are now claiming Kate didn’t actually do the Three Peaks challenge and the photos are faked - they have even claimed to same body double has been deployed! 🤣

Some people really do need to go outside and touch grass occasionally.

I am going to answer this but I have the dentist at 3.30pm so I cannot follow up.

your thoughts go far beyond republican sentiment and veer into conspiracy and downright hateful nonsense!
This seems very over the top to me.

The poster says The point is that they are currently struggling to balance historical secrecy with the demands of 24/7 modern media scrutiny. By being vague and then oscillating between silence and fake information.

I fail to see the hate or the conspiracy?

Off the top of my head - we know that KC spent millions of pounds to clean up Camilla in the public's eye, pre marriage, and that part of that campaign included tarnishing the ex.
We know that their presence in the papers is very important to them and the quality of the presence - therefore that it is managed.

We know that the BP was very upfront and transparent about KC cancer diagnosis, and as a result there were no conspiracy theories.
We know that KP was not upfront and transparent about the PoW, and therefore there were conspiracy theories.
We know that KP released photos that got a very unusual "kill" notification from the best journalism agencies in the world.
We know that a "fake P&PoW" was tried out.
We know that BP, under the late Queen, gave appaling statements about the character of V. Roberts. Lots more besides.

In short - they have a history of getting it wrong - the poster is not incorrect or a conspiracy theorist to point that out.

With the money and elite profile they have it seems mad that they hire people who make such gaffs.

I also think that these ad hominem attacks on the poster rather than arguing the substance of her/his argument leads me to believe that you see the truth of it, in one way or another.

Off to get my gnashers polished!

Dear god so many untruths here 🙄

Mylovelygreendress · 29/06/2026 16:04

What fake P &POW ??

Windsandstars · 29/06/2026 16:08

MarmaladeorJam · 29/06/2026 14:50

@jeffgoldblum

I have no idea who the poster is, do not know anything that is said about the PoW. I am arguing the point, not the person.

I do not know who or what you are either for that matter.

The very sneery, highhanded, and slightly threatening (me and my gang)

if however you wish to , that’s fine , I and quite a few other posters now know what you condone.

shows some of you hand.

You have no idea what I do or don't condone.

It is a predictable tactic: when faced with a critical argument about the institution, they pivot to personal attacks, tone policing, and twisted moral grandstanding to drive posters who disagreed with them, off the thread. It’s an attempt to silence discourse by labeling anyone who doesn’t drown in praise as an enemy. My points about why public trust in the establishment has eroded are legitimate, I had noticed people doubting them in many platforms from Twitter to here, Reddit etc. So people questioning if she even had cancer is unfortunately real, and instead of questioning why it's happened, they attack people who point the phenomenom and try to understand it. And the fact that they prefer to attack my posting history with lies (a tactic they did with other members too), rather than address the substance says everything about the of them.

The solution is to keep discussing the facts regardless of these performative attempts to drive people away.

I’ve seen people on Twitter say she did the 3 peaks on a horse/donkey and she had a full glam squad to give her a makeover at the top. Bananas.
Also that she only did it to get attention away from H&M tour details.

Grin Comedy gold

Meanwhile I have just heard William talking about Queen Elizabeth 'his grandmother' on Smooth Radio. It's all happening.

NotTalkinBoutTheLinen · 29/06/2026 16:12

In order to attack the substance there must be substance @Windsandstars

I learned from another thread here that there are people on the internet claiming Harry and Meghan’s children do not exist. I’m not engaging with that. It’s unhinged. Are you also asking why this is happening or blaming Harry and Meghan for this?

AnAutumnCrow · 29/06/2026 16:23

And might I take this opportunity to point out that I have been on the Royal Family board for years, and for those years have described myself as a 'mild-mannered republican'? Thank you.

I also know the difference between 'Republic' (the bunch of nutters who wouldn't know a political class analysis if it fell from sky screaming 'look at meeee, I'm a political class analysis') and republicans.

I know the difference between royalists and consitutional monarchists. I can name the Crown Dependancies, the Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth Realms, as well as the states and territories of Canada and Australia. I understand the Commonwealth, the order of succession, letters patent, and the function of the Privy Council. I'm interested in politics, society, culture, the functions of PR and social justice. And world peace, Stan.

Hey, you’re back 👋
Could you answer my questions above? Just seeking clarification on the facts you are discussing.

I will ignore the jabs.

Doubting the women maternity is a pervasive phenomenon. We have seen this same conspiratorial pattern applied to highprofile women across the board, other than Meghan I remember Catherine was also subjected to it during her pregnancies because she managed to keep her body fit and skinny, as I remember clearly, was Amal Clooney. There is an enormous, toxic trend of people refusing to believe women's biological realities, which is rooted in misogyny. When these unhinged theories take root with many women so it points to a symptom of a societal obsession with policing and discrediting women’s bodies and experiences, very worth discussing too, and a very substantial and serious subject. I'd totally discuss it someone opens a topic about it, as there was so many unhinged attack against them during their pregnancy and it needs to end.

But that's another issue that's not related to Workshy William and his wife current life, which is the subject of the topic, right?

IAmATorturedPoet · 29/06/2026 16:30

The poster doth protest too much, me thinks.

noonames · 29/06/2026 16:43

Hey @Windsandstars

Hopefully you don’t think I am jabbing - like you I think it’s important to discuss facts, so could you clarify some from your previous post:

what you meant by “people like you” (addressed to me)

what was “the initial not cancer statement”, do you mean the statement they issued before she knew she had cancer?

what was “the vague diagnosis” - was this when she said she had cancer? What was vague about it and how should she have been more specific?

do you think KC3’s cancer announcement was also vague, or just the PoW’s?

and which information are you referring to when you say they were “oscillating between silence and fake information”?

Thank you 🙏

AnAutumnCrow · 29/06/2026 16:54

There's an entire board where issues relevant to this point are discussed across many threads, that I've also been on for years (a decade +) called Feminism: Sex and Gender Discussions. You would be very welcome over there. It is UK focused but there are many supportive threads involving MNetters from all around the world, notably at the moment Australia, NZ and the US, given current political and legal events.

BrandiedAromatics · 29/06/2026 17:06

I like things to be fair. So to go back to the title of this thread, and with the info I've seen on here, I do not know if William is workshy. One thing that does sound a lot, compared to other working parents, is the 16 weeks the parents take off with the children. That is an amazing luxury.

@AnAutumnCrow Thanks, im aware, great section. And as I suppose you are aware, I was answering another member that brought this subject .

@noonames When I referred to people like you, I was referring to a group of royalists who have a pattern of behaviour, same kind of those who read the Daily Mail, have one sided rules for the royal family, or post online trying prioritize defending the institution’s over anything , over acknowledging the valid public questions.

My personal opinion on what the palace should disclose is irrelevant. I am explaining why a large portion of the public lost trust: the Palace’s own communication strategy created the exact conditions for that distrust. By issuing a definitive, reassuring statement in January that was later contradicted, and by oscillating between silence and fragmented or twisted information like the Photoshop, by blaming or even attacking the public, the institution created a transparency deficit. Among many other things, including Andrew, shady connections and stuff that back at Diana times, etc.

Your entire premise that a large portion of people have lost faith is contradicted by Catherine’s 75% approval rating. William has similar.

William denounced as "workshy" due to lack of royal engagements he performs

What's the source of that? Any right wing poll? Daily mail? Yougov?

Yougov, which is highly respected and reliable.

What’s your source for “a large portion”? Or anything you’ve written? It’s all your personal, unsubstantiated opinion.

Ok so you’re not able to answer those questions, even though “discussing facts” is important?

Fyi I am not a royalist, I don’t read the daily mail (except the odd linked article on here), not sure what one sided rules you are referring to, or how I am “trying prioritize defending the institution’s over anything”. So be careful not to assume, you know what it makes of u and me.

I simply read your post, asked you to clarify the points you made, which seemed like they might be hyperbolic and/or made up. You are not able to do so, which is fine, lots of people resort to hyperbole and fantasy on here, but best not then post about how important it is to discuss facts, because you risk looking a bit of a tit.

They contradicted the statement because she got a new diagnosis btw. Should they have foreseen cancer and declared it before it was diagnosed, or kept it secret?

NotTalkinBoutTheLinen · 29/06/2026 18:32

@Windsandstars

I also think it’s funny you are knocking DailyMail when that is the source for this entire thread. So seems like team “Will is a meanie face” respect it when it suits. Any port in a storm, eh? I’d not be caught dead using it as a source!

ThisSunnyCyanGuide · 29/06/2026 18:34

Hm... No person I ever met was asked by by yougov about royals. It isn't respected as they search particular profiles to answer it, but for this poll sure serves to push an agenda that the royals are sooo popular. So I think it's a valid concern and valid criticism to question the validity of those polls.
