I read this article in the DM which was originally brought to my attention by my MIL, who has a very keen interest in goings-on involving the RF.

'His absences have not gone unnoticed': Norman Baker asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up https://mol.im/a/15908021

I must admit I was surprised to learn that William has attended fewer events than KC and Anne over the last 3 years. I agree with the sentiment that he needs to step up to ease the burden on his father.

NORMAN BAKER asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up

He might be a present husband and father, but when it comes to carrying out royal duties, the Prince of Wales is 'workshy', a royal expert has claimed.

It completely omits numerous other factors that should be considered.

Can you elaborate?

Nah, you go ahead and fill your head with single source “articles” like this. We’re good.

Goodness, not only does Graham Smith dress like a lemon, he sounds as bitter as one too 🤣

TBF velvet curtains can't be completely exonerated when judging a lemon parade either.

Yet somehow 19m managed to watch the rather drearily prolonged coverage of the investiture of the Prince of Wales at home with another 500m round the world tuning in:

https://www.bbc.com/historyofthebbc/anniversaries/july/investiture-of-the-prince-of-wales

I can't comment on the preponderance of fax coverage from abroad not having been there but press coverage in the UK undoubtedly intensified especially especially as royal divorces, separations and Ferg related misdeeds accumulated.

Edited

I'm not saying it didn't. The original point made was that the Queen said she had to be seen.

I'm disappointed that yet again you can't rebut an opposing argument with anything concrete.

It’s hard to take him seriously. Looks like he’s coming off a bender.

I say missus 😂😂😂

But you didn't present anything other than what the lemon man said 😂

I'm happy and waiting to be corrected 😂

I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you. Since it’s been explained innumerable times in any discussion about the court circular and I know you’ve seen the explanations, I’ll use my time some other way.

If you actually care, pop that link into AI and ask if it’s accurate.

Was someone describing William as unkempt? I’ve certainly never seen his nipples. ( I feel weird typing that)

Please can you elaborate on how you 'know I've seen' the explanations?

Serenster · 27/06/2026 22:39

I think it is patently obvious that the Court Circular is an incomplete record of activities.

If you look at their public activties you will see that many things are happening behind the scenes that don’t make it onto the Court Circular. Today is an example of this - Kate and George visited an RAF base a couple of weeks ago, and only released pictures today to coincide with Armed Forces day. This wasn’t mentioned in the Court Circular when it happened, and obviously won’t be retrospectively counted. They often prepare for, rehearse and film clips or messages that take time. We know they write personal letters to people because they are occasionally shared. Harry complained in Spare that his personal meetings with people being supported by the charities of which he was patron never made it into the Circular.

They also often announce activities that will have taken considerable behind the scenes work that is never seen. The Princess of Wales launched an Early Years task force, for example, with NatWest, Unilever, Aviva, Deloitte, IKEA, Co-op, LEGO Group and Iceland involved alongside the campaign. That kind of commitment from corporates doesn’t just happen - it will have involved Kate using her soft power to convene people and get their commitment to join the task force. And if it’s her ability to open doors and get in front of people that they relied on, then she will herself have needed to interact with the key decision-makers at the corporate backers. But we knew nothing about this at all until the announcement. Certianly there were no “meetings with NatWest” etc in the Court Circular. Ditto William’s Homewards project. It and the partners involved was kept under wraps until he was ready to announce it.

**19 million may have watched it - that’s because it was unbelievable for the time.
There had never been anything like it before.

’Significant access to royal content’?? It was a one off. I don’t think you understand that things like this were not on every week.
It was significant because of the highly unusual element. of course people watched it.
The other choices were ‘The beat of Brass’ (music for. Herb Alpert on BBC2 or regional shows at 8 on ITV followed by Bruce Forsyth. Hardly a staggeringly difficult choice. Remember that most people watched tv on a Saturday night and most people if they had a tv only had one.
Then it went back to normal where people read about visits in the paper & saw them on the news- usually the local news. That was pretty much it.
There was nothing like there is today. Nothing. The press interest increased hugely after Charles married Diana.

** it was actually 30.6 million over two weekends -first on BBC1, next week on ITV. Many people will have watched it twice since a) there wasn’t much choice b) nobody had recording equipment.

I say this with respect and I hope mutual regards, whats up Cathy ? , despite being a fervent republican I have never seen you behave quite this way before!
your comments may have been pithy but they were peppered with humour, you put your point across but never insulted! 🤷‍♀️

MrsLeonFarrell · 28/06/2026 06:36

The late Queen was right that she needed to be seen to be believed by people all over the country. But in the age of mass media there are other ways of being seen than just turning up in person. Having said that, I am always interested by the large amount of Royal visits that never make it into the press. A more accurate picture of public engagements is gained by looking at their official Instagram accounts, rather than what The Mail deems worthy of inclusion and comment.

Of course there is work behind the scenes which is impossible to gauge but even a cursory social media read shows that the Court Circular is extremely inaccurate as a way of measuring what is actually being done.

Ukisgaslit · 28/06/2026 10:00

This is hilarious .

But please go ahead royalists and keep trying the line that William and Kate are working away behind the scenes and it’s not the 67 employees . It’s the 2026 version of ‘they only cost a couple of pounds each!’

Let’s see how that works out …

We’ve heard them speak off the cuff on their so called ‘expert’ areas. They are both hopeless . The ‘working behind the scenes line’ is an attempt at a fig leaf - and it’s not measured - how convenient…

I haven’t read the whole thread but is see the most childish mocking of republican authors .
This shows that Norman Baker’s meticulous research is having an impact and you’ve no response .

noonames · 28/06/2026 10:04

“Norman Baker’s meticulous research” 😂😂

He used William’s non attendance at a family event as evidence of laziness at work. How meticulous.

Ukisgaslit · 28/06/2026 10:05

Have you read either of his books ?

Ukisgaslit · 28/06/2026 10:09

The Norman Baker has been critiquing the Windsors for decades.
But combined with the information in the Epstein files and the Windsor lies and cover up ( much more still to come ) - I can see in real time that the arguments against the Windsor rip off are hitting their target

PR is not cutting it .
How could it ?

noonames · 28/06/2026 10:09

Ukisgaslit · 28/06/2026 10:05

I don’t need to have read his books to spot this example of his meticulous research, which appears in the article that this thread is discussing.
