Because they have Christmas at Sandringham?

It was already reported earlier in the month that Andrew would not be attending. Whether his daughter are invited - not mentioned

American here and you have to wonder if King Charles was so embarrassed by people heckling him a couple of days ago he had enough.

Yes he suddenly realised how it was going to follow him around and affect him constantly.

You can imagine him asking his aids how to stop these people and the only response being to do the right thing with his brother.

I think that it's something to do with not having had sex with trafficked women?

I never said he did.
It was the other points about Epstein.

IVbumble · 31/10/2025 08:04

The next series of The Crown will be interesting.

divorcinganabsolutewanker · 31/10/2025 08:07

They should all go.

WaryHiker · 31/10/2025 08:09

I don't understand how this is anything other than damage limitation. A week or two ago, Andrew made his statement about voluntarily giving up most of his titles. It was stated that this had been decided in close consultation with the king.

So, unless I have missed a major story between then and now, the only reasonable conclusion to draw is that Charles was sending up a test balloon to see whether throwing this sop to his subjects would be enough to shut them up long enough for everything to go back to normal. Having realised these stories aren't going away, he's done a reverse ferret and made this announcement.

If nothing else has changed since Andrew's original statement, and Charles thought the proposal of not using his titles was an adequate response to everything that had happened, I failed to understand why everyone is applauding him today. If the royal family is about anything, it's about PR and protecting their own future survival.

It was the other points about Epstein.

What crime do you think Mandelson has committed? He has been held accountable for being in touch with Epstein. His job as ambassador(?) was taken away from him.

Oh nothing. That's all ok then. I'm sure he's no evidence and it's all fine.

I’m not sure. I don’t think they will though, as it wouldn’t be fair to them as they haven’t done anything wrong. I saw a few articles recently that said KC will do everything he can to ensure they keep their titles.

I think their children were involved in receiving huge gifts from rich Arabs that Andrew did deals with according to Andrew Lownies book so they're not completely innocent.

why would it matter? Zara isn't a princess, not sure about Edwards children

Tubestrike · 31/10/2025 06:11

Oh absolutely, I definitely don't feel sorry for him. I just thought it was a bit odd that the palace has publicly stripped him of his titles due to his dreadful behaviour but are then asking the press to go easy on him.

Well it's another way of getting him out of the focus of the press isn't it?

Tubestrike · 31/10/2025 08:16

I think that was just an interim measure while legal advice was sought before stripping him of all his titles and getting him out of Royal Lodge.

Charles cannot demand any such thing.
This is about due process of law.

I'm aware of that but when a British monarch speaks, the world tends to listen. So rather than just offer hollow platitudes to victims of abuse, he could have made a statement requesting that all of the perpetrators face scrutiny because its the right thing to do. Clinton, so far, is getting off scot free.

Perhaps he's quietly aware that if he sticks his head over the parapet, some unfavourable journo might start asking questions about how many times he hosted Jimmy Saville. There's no question of impropriety, but that was a huge lapse in judgement where Charles is concerned. He had Saville on speed dial as 'someone who knows the pulse of the nation and could therefore advise accordingly'. The good folks of Leeds knew he was a wrong 'un before he'd even set foot in the BBC, so its not like the rumours weren't already swirling.

Makingadecision · 31/10/2025 08:18

@ThatCyanCat I don’t think it’s necessarily love but the fact she has no money or morals and not does he. They are desperate and not very popular so stick together because of some likely terrible details they know of each others lives. I am sure Sarah F has more dirt on Andrew and he’s trying to keep her on side. He also
prob knows more about her.

Gibstub · 31/10/2025 08:19

Why? He will never be as bad as Andrew. Nothing to compare here. I wish they would all go to be honest. What I Ioved was the two divorced adulterers meeting the Pope. Says it all.

Whoa... that's a reach about Jimmy Savile.
If you want to discuss that, obviously do, but I would say that's a whole other thread.
My point is that KC is a Constitutional Monarch, and cannot make "demands" about Epstein or anyone else.

Let’s hope Harry is next

How utterly offensive to the victims of sexual assault. Shame on you.

Tubestrike · 31/10/2025 08:20

The whole thing is a nasty murky mess, I'm sure we don't know the half of it.

ThatCyanCat · 31/10/2025 07:36

Imagine having your mother come live with you and your husband and kids at that stage of life... and your mother being Fergie!

Much as I dislike Andrew and Sarah, they do seem to love each other in their weird way, despite all the affairs and scandal and divorce. They can't seem to really give each other up.

I’m not sure that’s about love. SF’s extravagant habits needed to be funded and he got stuck with her whether he liked it or not. This whole sorry saga has revealed what a sham the “friendly divorce” has proved to be.

greengreyblue · 31/10/2025 06:47

I know someone who will love to be his new best friend. Trump.

Doubt it, there's not much status to be has from hanging out with a ex royal.

Newtt · 31/10/2025 08:21

Will ‘Prince’ Andrew retain his place in the line of succession?

jumpingthehighjump · 31/10/2025 07:27

Sarah's got two daughters with rich husbands, I'm sure they'll see her alright

I bet those husbands are delighted at the prospect!😆

Tubestrike · 31/10/2025 08:20

Absolutely this. I'm glad the nasty little scrote formerly known as prince has got his comeuppance, but c'mon now, release the Epstein files. It wasn't just Andrew on those flights to Epstein island, at the moment it feels like Andrew was the only perpetrator. Who else was involved? Why isn't anyone else's name being divulged? Are all the other rapist paedophile nonces going to get away with it?

MeTooOverHere · 31/10/2025 08:26

Newtt · 31/10/2025 08:21

Will ‘Prince’ Andrew retain his place in the line of succession?

At this point it would be irrelevant. What is he? 8th?

snowmichael · 31/10/2025 08:27

> a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew
A process that requires a bill in the HP
Last time it happened was 1917, and the Act used then was a one-off, another would be needed this time around
