Apologies for my stupidity but the "notwithstanding part "

Does that read...we are disgusted that he fails to see he has done anything wrong and we are disgusted or ...bare in mind he still denies any wrong doing ?

That bit is unclear. Probably because they have to be aware that legally he hasn't been convicted of anything. It's fairly strong disapproval though.

Brilliant.

Tana433 · 30/10/2025 20:18

Did Princess Anne and Prince Edward decide that their children would not be known as Prince or Princess or is it because Anne is female and Edward was the youngest? Because surely if Beatrice and Eugenie are 'Princesses, why are the other 'children'?

I mean, he looked quite bemused at the chatting and laughing at a funeral, not at all pissed off. If he didn’t want to be seen with him it would be made clear before the event that he was to keep his distance!

And yes, the fact they both live on Windsor does suggest he’s fine with it. If he was arsed then he’d have made that clear too.

All this fawning over William and Kate is embarrassing. Pair of workshy freeloaders 😅

The fawning over Charles is equally embarrassing - Charles was actively welcoming Andrew back into the fold until very recently. People have bloody short memories 🙄

I strongly suspect they're horrified by his actions. Brother or not.

I don’t think they’re easily shocked.

Imaginethatifyoucan · 30/10/2025 20:18

It was their choice

Craftysue · 30/10/2025 20:18

About time but I wish Virginia was still here to see it. Brave lady RIP.

RhododendronFlowers · 30/10/2025 20:18

LunarLights1 · 30/10/2025 20:14

To me it reads they’re annoyed they’ve had to do this

To me it reads the exact opposite. Andrew claims he's innocent. Whatever, he's still a goner, and more importantly, we're sorry for the victims of abuse, we're not sorry for him.

Middlemarch123 · 30/10/2025 20:18

I think they hoped that it would all blow over, and Charles praying with the Pope would distract us. It didn’t. Think this has been done reluctantly. They’ve always been behind the public mood. Also I think the revelations so far are the tip of the iceberg, and they need to pre-empt future revelations.

WittyTaupeFox · 30/10/2025 20:19

Now the king needs to address the nation
and his brother needs to answer questions by law enforcement on his role in any trafficking and the sexual assault of Virginia Guiffre.

cheaptableNC · 30/10/2025 20:19

Andrew Lownie said on some news programme there are more books by victims of Epstein due out in the coming months. He also said on the BBC this evening that there are more allegations to come soon.

I think any decent human being would be shocked by his behaviour.

JulianClarysDog · 30/10/2025 20:20

Is Wood Farm the house that Prince Philip and Penny Knatchbull used to use?

ShenandoahRiver · 30/10/2025 20:20

They have known what he was like for decades. They took no action.

cheaptableNC · 30/10/2025 20:20

The Andrew formerly known as Prince

lifeonmars100 · 30/10/2025 20:20

Formely known as Prince, forever known as Nonce

I agree - I suspect lawyers went over that statement and that sentence is there to show that he (Andrew) is not admitting any wrongdoing.

However to follow it immediately with the sentence about victims of abuse is as close to an admission that the King believes that there have been victims of abuse despite Andrew’s denials.

It’s an extraordinary statement.

SoReadyFor · 30/10/2025 20:20

And yes let's do this for Harry too.

Anne's children weren't entitled to titles as she is female. Edward's children are technically a HRH Prince and Princess, but their parents chose for them not to use the titles and just be styled as the son and daughter of a peer.

I think Beatrice and Eugenie's princess titles seem really silly now. Charles should really issue LP's saying that only direct line grandchildren should have royal titles.

Sadly I don't think this is about doing the right thing more about protecting the cushy lifestyle for other Royals under the glare of public scrutiny. For years we've been told they can't remove him from the house because he hols a little long lease, but now they can?! hmmm

It is 100% nothing to do with doing the right thing! The royals have shown that time and time again - it’s desperate damage limitation 🤬

Anne's children, because they descended through a female line didn't get Prince or Princess. Edward and Sophie decided that using the titles would be decided by their children when they reached 18. So far they aren't using them.

Edward decided his weren't going to be known as Prince and Princess(they can still be but he didn't want them to be), and it seems to have helped them live a relatively normal life. Louise was working in a garden centre.

Princess Anne's wouldn't be unless Mark Philips accepted a title and he refused.

Let’s hope Harry is next

Why? Is he suspected of sexually assaulting trafficked minors?
