But they, and Andrew, aren't in the direct line of the reigning monarch/heir apparent.

Neither is Harry ?

”Tampongate’ was information gained from a private phone call between Charles and Camilla from a radio ham. It was Princess Diana who said the phrase ‘there were three of us in our marriage’….

I don’t get the sense of Narcissism from Charles in the same way as those traits that Prince Andrew or latterly Harry displays - the absolute belief in what they are saying is the ‘truth’ and that they are right all of the time.

Surely someone who has an affair is narcissistic. It's all about them.
The autobiography that he approved - lets face it it all came from him - written by Dimbleby criticised his parents. I'm pretty sure he accused his dad of bullying him and his mum of emotional neglect. That's why he sought refuge with the other royal paedo, Mountbatten.

Ilovemyshed · 15/09/2025 09:44

I feel really sad about it. He had the world at his feet, popularity and a great connection with the military and charity that could have really become a fantastic force for good. He could have lived a really special life with all the perks and privileges of being royal but without the frontline pressure. Nice place to live, privacy within an estate and access to the best. His children could have forged wonderful lives and careers like Zara or Linley, nicely on the fringe.

Its backfired due to his stupid, stupid actions and he and his wife’s terrible judgement, and nothing will ever bring him back. Sadly I think it will continue until a tragedy, or it will just be compounded as his children grow up and get fed to the US PR machine wolves.

I watch with interest to see how it unfolds, but great sadness on what he might have had.

William has cool judgement and all the cards here, and has behaved impeccably, as has Catherine.

The problem is you can’t do that and live a $20m per year lifestyle. Not unless you have serious money in the bank, which Harry does not. He’s rich but not new money California rich.

I guess that was it. I also, again perhaps naively, assumed that they had enough investments and existing money behind them that, barring some absolute calamity, meant they'd always be secure even if they weren't among the top richest (the royals don't actually "own" an awful lot, relatively speaking, do they? Doesn't a lot of it belong to the Crown rather than the person, and aren't a lot of the clothes etc loaned for the occasion because it's such a huge endorsement to say Catherine or whoever is wearing your label to this event?). And since I thought they did want a quiet life, I thought they'd accept a relatively lower wealth level which is, of course, still beyond the wildest dreams of most of us.

I know Sarah Ferguson had terrible trouble after her divorce but she wasn't born royal. Did the Queen Mother actually die in debt without realising it?

Yet Fergie is back, disgraceful Andy never left.
Ignoring the fact that Charles spent his married days involved in an extra marital affair.
Harry seems normal in comparison.

I was only commenting on Harry in my post on a thread about Harry. Why would I comment on the others?

Bumblebee72 · 15/09/2025 09:45

He is a delusional fool. What on earth is he doing in Ukraine, other than seeking attention.

What do you mean? That she was resuscitated?

No. That she may have had Dracula like qualities. Or was he on mushrooms again. Oh Harrrrrry!

I'm not sure this is fair. Of course affairs are wrong and I'm sorry for the pain it caused everyone... but he obviously should always have married Camilla and they're married now. He wasn't a serial philanderer.

FitatFifty · 15/09/2025 09:47

I can only think he’s thick enough to think that phrase means actual dirty laundry.

Harry and Megan are like vultures circling the weak and dying-they did it to the Queen and Prince Phillip and now they are doing it to Charles.

Trying desperately to stay relevant and hoping weak Charles will throw them a bone.

Despicable pair.

He’s beyond stupid.

It’s in print and on film.

Does he think we’re as stupid as he is? Clearly!

Have you considered the fact that the Queen Mother may have died twice? And Harry remembers one death more than the other?

Perhaps she's still alive and curating that marvellous wardrobe.

I also think it's going to end tragically badly.

I detest them both, but Harry is so vulnerable. He has pretty much lost everything - friends, country, family - by his actions and the actions of his wife. His wife has form for adopting a scorched earth policy for everything in her path. He is wholly reliant on her for his sense of identity and well-being now IMO. If they divorce - which I can only imagine will be instigated by her- then it will be carnage. He's quite despicable IMO but I worry for what would happen to him then.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 15/09/2025 09:55

They would be better off stacking shelves than returning to the welcoming UK.

Justdancevance · 15/09/2025 09:55

it looks like Harry was handed a huge opportunity but blew it.

That’s a different argument to the one he’s making though. You can certainly debate how much people have a right to talk about their own lives, vs the right of others not to be talked about. I imagine everyone who has ever written an autobiography has had to decide where to draw that line (and everyone will have different opinions).

But he hasn’t used that defence (which I think would actually be quite reasonable), his argument was that the book was a “series of corrections to stories already out there”. Which is simply not true. Was there a story already out there that he was pleasant to his teacher, and he had to correct it by saying that actually he was pretty nasty about her? Was there a story about his virginity he needed to correct? It’s so annoying.

Or indeed about his brother's foreskin. It's really unethical to talk about another specific person's genitals without their permission, I don't see how anyone can disagree with that.

SuperTrooper1111 · 15/09/2025 09:56

That's gold-standard gaslighting right there.

I think he's one of those habitual liars who knows they aren't telling the truth but has repeated the falsehoods so often that he now believes they really did happen.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 15/09/2025 09:57

If Diana was alive this is what she would be saying to Harry.

Showing up and doing good 🙂

Also, from what I can gather, which obviously may not be true, he seems to have been living a pretty isolated life these past 5 years. He's 8 time zones away from the family and friends who might have knocked some sense into him. Now he only has his wife, who happily reinforces his paranoia and delusions, and 'friends' who just want to make money from him. Not a good situation for someone who already had a shoulder chip the size of Buckingham Palace.

CarefulN0w · 15/09/2025 10:01

I think what I have learned, is that Harry’s priority for the next year is to try really hard to get back under Dad’s wing before his evil big brother banishes him from the Kingdom.

He might need another plan.

I wonder how he reconciles the claim to have been setting the record straight with stuff that was demonstrably rubbish, like the story of how he was told about the Queen Mother's death by phone when he was at Eton - despite the fact that he was skiing with his father at the time.

To be fair to him, that could be a genuine misremembering - is he confusing the queen mother’s death with Princess Margaret’s maybe, they were less than two months apart. And then apparently no one fact checked the book to confirm dates etc.
