I'm so naive. I really thought they'd bugger off to America and live a relatively quiet life; obviously they'd still turn up at glitzy events but I thought she'd pop up in the odd film, he'd focus on his charity work and they'd maybe start a business in fashion or homeware, that sort of thing, with carefully curated social media around it.

IcedPurple · 15/09/2025 09:21

The motives for his very public meeting with Charles are increasingly obvious. He could have had a completely private meeting with him at pretty much any time, but he chose to drive up to the public entrance of Clarence House with photographers waiting outside. He clearly wanted to give the impression that his Ukraine jolly had some sort of royal approval.

That, and it's now becoming undeniable that he's looking for a way back into royal life. But I still believe that ship has sailed.

I wonder how he reconciles the claim to have been setting the record straight with stuff that was demonstrably rubbish, like the story of how he was told about the Queen Mother's death by phone when he was at Eton - despite the fact that he was skiing with his father at the time.

Have you considered the fact that the Queen Mother may have died twice? And Harry remembers one death more than the other?

ozarina · 15/09/2025 09:22

Butteredtoast55 · 15/09/2025 07:42

One of the things I despise most is his certainty that he has a beneficial effect on his father's health. It's like his pompous statements about wanting to be sure HMTLQ had the right people around to advise her, i.e. him
The stress his behaviour must generate for KC is unimaginable. He's such a loose cannon that every conversation will have to be handled so carefully and that's before you consider the impact H has on other family members and the responsibility KC has for that. This just shows that he leaks to the press constantly, cannot keep anything private and has zero self awareness. He really is a twat.

Well said.

It sounds like that is what he inadvertently disclosed by saying the focus is on his father for the ‘next year’. Thats twice now he has alluded to his father not having long to live. Shouldn’t Charles be stepping down? he has looked particularly unwell on a few engagements.

It doesn't work like that.

Queen was working up until the day she died. She was meeting Liz Truss 2 days before she passed.

Well, that's just as likely as some of the other stuff he's claimed.

Well... he is a royal so surely he always could go back to being a working royal? He'd still be in public demand. But the family/working relationships must be shot to shit.

That's not naive, that's very sensible and exactly what they should have done, but failed to do.

They have done all of that. Documentaries, tv show rather than film but that's coming. It will win an Oscar too. 😁

What do you mean? That she was resuscitated?

I disagree that he'd be in public demand. All the polls show that he is strongly disliked by the British public. His wife even more so.

And no, simply being 'royal' doesn't automatically allow you to be a working royal. If so, Andrew would also have that 'right'.

notimagain · 15/09/2025 09:28

@IcedPurple

He clearly wanted to give the impression that his Ukraine jolly had some sort of royal approval.

Quite possibly..and being a cynical type I suspect one motive for the Ukraine visit was for H to try and show Invictus that they still need him, at least for publicity purposes.

Imagine your father had married your innocent teenaged mother for convenience, while continuing his affair with another woman throughout the marriage.

Imagine he was head of the Church of England, but stood at the church altar lying when he vowed be faithful to his bride.

Imagine he drove her mad with his infidelity and coldness.

Imagine all of this went on in the public eye and the whole world saw her humiliation.

Imagine she died, your father married his mistress and you are supposed to pretend you respect them, and revere the pair of them as the king and queen.

How the hell would you feel?

Imagine you had a brother who also experienced all of what you allege above, yet managed to deal with it in a far more dignified and private manner 🤷‍♀️

Imagine your mother had affairs, public affairs. imagine your mother being so reckless she got in cars without wearing seatbelts knowing full well she had two children in another country somewhere. What kind of mother fucks off across the world on holiday after holiday, instead of being with her kids...

I don't think that is naive it is probably what they should have done. P H doesn't know anything else other than being in Royal circles his world was so small I don't think he knows how to function as an "ordinary person " and I think he was expecting his father to say Harry come back !

Well I welcome the thoughts and pronouncements of Prince Harry, Duke of Montecito, Laird of Las Vegas.

It’s disrespectful to talk badly of a man who strides the world with such aplomb.

😂😂

The problem is you can’t do that and live a $20m per year lifestyle. Not unless you have serious money in the bank, which Harry does not. He’s rich but not new money California rich.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 15/09/2025 09:34

So basically he’s about to get divorced and wants to run home back to his family and be given back all the royal privileges- suspect they’re bankrupt

Yes, and imagine accusing your family of racism. Clearly, on Oprah. Imagine then denying it later on and saying it was the "British media" who did so.
Imagine saying Archie wouldn't get a title because of above claims, yet he is a Prince and Lilibet a Princess.

It’s not up to him . The Yorks were desperate for Beatrice and Eugenie to be working Royals but were told no .,

But they, and Andrew, aren't in the direct line of the reigning monarch/heir apparent.

Horses7 · 15/09/2025 09:40

I don’t approve of PH & MEagain’s antics at all.
However their PR team have played a blinder all week (apart from the interview - BIG mistake PR team) and I hope it gives William and Kate a shake.
I’ve said before they don’t work as hard as they can - as most of us do….working full time with families etc so we can pay our bills. They have a life we can’t even imagine and need to step up to the plate more.
We never were able to take our kids to school every day (in fact any day) and missed loads of plays, nativities etc and our kids have grown up to be great adults, well balanced with a great work ethic etc. You can have a family and put the hours in.
Do better William and Kate please.

ThatCyanCat · 15/09/2025 09:39

Andrew was in the direct line up to 3 years ago, and had been stopped being a 'working royal' before that.

Being a working royal is a privilege, not a right.

PaddlingSwan · 15/09/2025 09:40

How about if everyone just turned around and said they were not interested?
No more speculative reporting in the press. No more likely, could have, might or otherwise termed articles. Just ghost the pair of them as far as the UK is concerned.
I do not doubt that their words and actions have upset both families, but I see no reason to keep this in the public eye. It is no concern of ours and should be resolved, or not, behind closed doors.
