King Charles hosts French President for State Visit

After Brexit, the Royal Family (Queen Elizabeth and then King Charles) have deployed soft power to support Anglo-French rapprochement.

Hopefully politicians will pursue improved co-operation between the two nations as it is critical for security (Ukraine war) and prosperity (reducing trade barriers for small to medium businesses hit hard by increased red tape post-Brexit).

I like Catherine's skirt and jacket but not together. Always happy to see her though and hope that she attends the state dinner.

I hope this visit goes well.

Hopefully this will help our relationship.

It all looks very jolly so far. The royal bit will be a lot more fun than talking about Channel crossers with Kier Starmer.

I think there’s some domestic soft diplomacy going on too. Catherine is neutrally dressed so as not to pull focus from Camilla (in my opinion).

I see Brigitte was her normal happy self with her Head of State husband leaving the aircraft and coming down the steps.

I read that the Captain of the Guard of Honour, a Major of the Grenadier Guards, issued the invitation to Macron to inspect the guards in fluent French. Chapeau 😆

I thought it was vintage Dior, but it is a copy of the original.

Always nice to see Anglo-French relations go well. I think Macron is genuinely fond of the British Royal family.

This picture is making the rounds as people are swooning over French gallantry.

It is quite interesting to see how enthusiastic people are...almost as if old fashioned gestures are back in fashion!

Forgive me now, but when I saw the pic of Catherine on BBC website linked above, my first thought was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I'll never forget Mme. Macron's abusive behaviour in hitting her husband in full view of the world on the airplane recently either. You can dress them up....

Catherine’s looks gorgeous today. Her hair is swoon worthy. I love the blazer and the hat. The skirt is pretty but maybe not the best option for the outfit. It’s lovely to see her out and about and looking so well.

Probably the same as any other job! I couldn’t stand one of my work colleagues but had to get on with it as also my line manager.

I thought Brigitte looked very chic in her dress. Camilla’s dress was rather green. I think I like her better in creams and whites.
