Times article asking is 2024 the year of the bores. They have many categories, including swiftly bores but Meghan has a category all to herself:

As a mother’ bores

The Duchess of Sussex, queen of the “as a mother” bores, was on peak AAM form at a recent children’s hospital fundraiser in Los Angeles, demonstrating exactly how it’s done in 2024. “From my standpoint as a mother,” Meghan said, establishing her unique perspective straight off the bat, “no one wants to be in a position where you need to go to a place like this.” (Amen. Not great for the children, but let’s focus on the mothers.) “But if you have to, the best place in the world you could go would be Children’s Hospital LA.” Hmm. See what she did there: made a celebration of the hospital staff’s work quite a lot about herself AAM.
And Meghan is merely the icing mother figure on the top of the cake of modern life. Lately, this habit of identifying yourself AAM is rife and licence to bore anyone whenever you choose on any subject, because “AAM” is a shutout. “AAM, I really relish my alone time.” “AAM, I really want to see peace in the Middle East.” “AAM, I think growing your own vegetables is important.” “AAM, I see and feel more clearly.” Sentences beginning “as a woman” have the potential for boring, but with AAM there’s no way around it. Prepare to be off-the-scale bored.

Most likely to say “For me, there is nothing more rewarding [hand on heart] than seeing my little ones eat my homemade pesto.”

Least likely to say “Let’s not talk about the kids.”

One thing they left out however, is Meghans AAM game is a brand exercise. Designed to make her look warm, caring and definitely not a bully. No way!

If the cooking show gets released* - it’s going to be wall to wall AAM cooking because:

  • she has ‘limited time’ AAM with 3 kids
  • she needs to make nutritious meals that the 3 kids will want to eat. Meghan will let us in on a ‘secret’ of how she gets her kids to eat veg. The same secret we all use…hide them. She also bribes the eldest with trips to the surf park if he eats all his organic broccoli.
  • AAM she chooses ethical brands …because something about kids being the future….or something
  • AAM cooking is about caring and bonding with family and dearest friends. Please don’t ask her where any of her family is, she doesn’t know.
  • AAM cooking is peak word salad with extra drizzly dressing. “It’s about viewing cooking through the lens of community and how we can connect through that love and create positive action in our communities, which AAM, is so important” All through the power of a tuna melt. Amazing
  • AAM cooking is barefoot, with hair strands artfully falling and a touch of organic ancient grain flour on the forehead. She’s busy mum of three kids remember
  • Section on self care cooking for AAMs. This will be taking time to brew some herbal tea and look wistfully into the distance or make some AAM snack that requires 20 ingredients, $75, 1hr and an apprenticeship at le cordon bleu

Can’t wait!!!

*Theres only really two months left of this year, with Polo out in Dec….so will it be early spring????why aren’t we hearing about a release date?

Who cares?

LetThereBeLove · 26/10/2024 11:07

What is AAM and why should we care?

What is AAM and why should we care?

It's in the article "as a mother". It's taking the piss out of people who say that before giving their opinion.

Whenever anyone says "as a mother..." I'm always reminded of Andrea Leadsom's "but I have children" comment when running against Theresa May for Tory leader.

LetThereBeLove · 26/10/2024 11:24

Thanks DancingPhantoms Almost as bad as a friend of mine who has no children and whenever a discussion arises about children she says 'Well I wouldn't know' in an huffy voice!

She also bribes the eldest with trips to the surf park if he eats all his organic broccoli.

😁

He might start to try to get out of it by whining: "You can't make me! You're not my reeeeal mom! You're my wife!"
No point in adding "You're not the boss of me" because that's patently untrue.

theemptinessmachine · 26/10/2024 12:59

AAM. Is used as a way to say to people " you can't criticise me". I am allowed to do and say what I like. It is often used on here against certain opinions that someone may not like in the form of " this is a site for mothers - what an awful thing to say". As a mother you are a Madonna, everything you say is right. You have to support every mother in the world.

Does she have three kids?

Can't view the article.

Including Harry yes

And the world keeps getting meaner and meaner… is the Times not supposed to be a broadsheet? Like a quality newspaper?

Mylovelygreendress · 26/10/2024 13:13

The afternoon shift has arrived !

Mylovelygreendress · 26/10/2024 13:15

An extension of AAM is AAM and G ( grandmother). I have an acquaintance who drops that in most discussions / chats .

theemptinessmachine · 26/10/2024 13:18

Other examples " as a long time poster on MN" 😂

MaggieBsBoat · 26/10/2024 13:20

crikey, I’m not sure I’ve ever had cause to actually say that sentence. And I’ve been in this game show for nearly 30 years! Well done madam!

EdithWeston · 26/10/2024 13:32

There was a puff piece a few weeks back, suggesting that it would be early next year. Sourced, IIRC, to a "friend" who was really excited about it.

Nothing official from Netflix. It is mentioned on the "chat" bit of the website, along with Polo, in an article from 11 April. Since then there has been a start date announced for Polo, but nothing more on this

SallyWD · 26/10/2024 13:34

Jeeus, what a nasty, hateful post. Who has the headspace for this nonsense?

BasiliskStare · 26/10/2024 13:37

Acth look , I think people are allowed to celebrate their time as new parents and it is understandable they think they are the Only Ones . But I am a mother - I see you Meghan but I don't want to be preached to. I have asked more experienced mothers than me for advice , but I am not sure DH & I would ask M&H for advice. Hiding vegetables is surely parenting 101. As is getting used to your child getting used to various tastes . Some don't . Unlike Phil Archer DS did not come late to avocados - we tried them - he loved them.

Pedestriancrossing · 26/10/2024 14:01

Well isn't this just spiteful nonsense. I'm no fan of MM but I suspect that the hateful sniping aimed at her says more about the snipers than it does about her.

BemusedAmerican · 26/10/2024 14:06

If Harris wins the election, 2025 will be the year of the childless cat ladies. 😁

ohyesido · 26/10/2024 14:17

This is the second time this week I've read an article that seems dedicated to writing mean spirited things about MM.

The writers appear to lack self awareness, apparently Meghan is the bully yet she's the one who everyone seems to enjoy attacking for her perceived flaws

Citrusandginger · 26/10/2024 14:45

AAPWAHITA As A Person With A Hole in Their Ass, you must listen to my wisdom. Actually I don't have any wise words so have some word salad instead.

It's because she blurts out sugar coated bullshit whenever she opens her mouth whilst dragging a microphone to herself... again.... she jumps on any bandwagon she can, uses every possible opportunity to be a victim or spew nonsense word salads, claps herself, rebrands every day things we all do as her special ideas .. honestly the woman is a self serving narcissist who steps on the face of everyone, drags out her royal title, victimises herself to make money ... it's shocking and she's being called out for it now that 95% if people can see straight through her nonsense

Shopgirl2 · 26/10/2024 15:13

Why waste your time writing such a nonsense thread on people you don't know, based on articles that are written to make money?!
Why am I replying to this nonsense?? 😆 Leaving now...
