It’s being serialised in part in the Mail but I won’t pay for that.

Ugh. No thanks. The author is a mate of that peculiar little Scabies creature. Nasty rancid little misogynist goblin. Both are utterly foul excuses for human beings

What is the reliable source and evidence for this as I have not seen any.

I always thought the “recollections may vary” comment a clap back from the royal who made the racist comment. Now we know it was Catherine. Disingenuous to put it out under the late Queen’s name when it should have been KP. Having said that it would have revealed the household from where it came from so it was a good way of protecting the heir and his wife yet again.

How Kate coined the royal slapdown after Meghan's racism claims

First, the disgraced Duke of York was spotted - to the surprise of many - walking with other members of the Royal Family to their traditional Christmas service in 2022.

Not really. If Catherine suggested it and the Queen thought it was a good idea, then HM as head of the “Firm” would have been the one to put her name to it. The final say would have been hers, otherwise KP would have been undermining her authority

I never understand what's the point of all these books. Written by hangers-on based on "sources", it might or might not be true. OP please let us have your opinion.

I see that the disparaging comments about Harry and Meghan have started already though.

'I see that the disparaging comments about Harry and Meghan have started already though.'

What, on this thread? Can't see that.

These books are usually cobbled together bollocks based round gossip obtained from hangers on. Kate seems particularly reserved so I doubt there's much bar the usual.

KatherineParr · 31/07/2024 14:53

I've bought this as a very light escapist read. Not expecting that much but can report back if people are interested.

Vespanest · 31/07/2024 15:12

I would never pay money to read made up crap, never read Bower, never read Scobie, not about to start now.

I don’t have one yet as I’m not paying the Mail to read behind a paywall but someone here might have been reading it. I see that it is discounted so the book is affordable so I’ll go that route.

I am skeptical of that and my perspective is that it was an exercise in damage control so a protective measure again.

I agree with this as the Royal Family know how to protect the institution.

I mean Harry has since said that they never said that the royal had made a racist comment. He said it was the British media who said that… 🤔

pearlfritillary · 31/07/2024 16:20

Nope - I've got better things to spend my money on.

MavisRowntree · 31/07/2024 16:48

My recollection is that Henry was most offended when Tom Bradby suggested that any member of the royal family might be ‘racist’ and that it was all a creation of the tabloid press. (I believe that the Mail itself is regarded as a ‘tabloid’?)

I will be buying a copy as it appears to not be overwhelmingly fawning and highlights issues, such as the Cambridge’s initial jealousy.

He got a haircut and that's proof that he was jealous. Yeah sounds like a great book 😂

Reporting on Harry,

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/unconcious-bias-racism-prince-harry-b2258614.html

What is the difference,

https://theconversation.com/prince-harry-is-wrong-unconscious-bias-is-not-different-to-racism-198103

My view is that it was racist and Harry is confused/downplaying the whole sorry business after all the tabloids ran with the racist headlines. The fact that he is walking the interview with Oprah backwards to put distance between himself and Meghan concerning those headlines does not mean it was not racist.

What is unconscious bias? Explained as Prince Harry denies accusing royals of racism

Prince Harry says questions over the colour of his unborn baby’s skin were down to unconscious bias rather than racism, but what’s the difference?

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/unconcious-bias-racism-prince-harry-b2258614.html

Vespanest · 31/07/2024 22:22

What was racist? to believe it was first relied upon believing Harry, the same Harry who spoke about his genes winning against Meghans on TV. Harry who sees his feelings as important as facts. Harry who again was in the conversation but appears to have no contribution other that to tell Meghan who told Oprah before Harry back peddled. This is before we get to the children not getting tittles because of their colour.

StrawberriesandCreamTea · 31/07/2024 22:33

Disingenuous to put it out under the late Queen’s name when it should have been KP.

The above was a protective measure for the institution.

The royal family has a long history of racism and many in the institution along with many in the aristocracy feared both communism and socialism which led to the holding of Nazi sympathies, as evidenced in the historical record. For an insulated institution that had not caught up with the changes of modern times, shown by Philip’s life long racist comments, and Harry’s admission to being a bigot before he met and fell in love with Meghan, it is hard to see how the people who move in those circles could not be influenced subconsciously.
