(or for the MN purists, Catherine) The most high profile and popular member of royal family has not been seen since Christmas. I do think it's quite strange and so many rumours from the foreign press. And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about her having hysterectomy / crohns / ad infimum / I've had both a hysterotomy and half my intestine removed and was back in work within a 8 weeks.

@ArcaneWireless My eyes!!! 😂😂😂

Spot on.

Thanks.

I rolled my eyes a bit at one of those disingenuous "I don't follow the royals but" posts recently. This person said that although they of course 'don't follow the royals', a certain rumour about Kate was 'all over Twitter' and they just felt compelled to discuss it here.

Clearly they do follow the royals.

AliceOlive · 04/03/2024 16:49

I rarely open twitter (especially since you need an account to see anything properly) and even I know how it works.

You feed the wolf you want to feed inside with it.

Whenever there seems to be no point, there is always, always cake.

Does anyone remember that lovely time when Harry Whathisname was on Celebrity Bake-off and he made a cake with himself and Camilla sunbathing together as the decoration on the top?

Maireas · 04/03/2024 17:09

I do, @upinaballoon ! 😁

The House of Tudor had about 5 legit rival claimants at various points (and I don't even include the Plantagenet branches in that!); the House of Windsor Saxe-Coburg-Goth has none.

A favourite random fact - one of the next in line to be the Jacobite claimant to the UK throne actually attended Charles’ coronation in her primary position as the Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein. Her 90 year old uncle Franz then her 87 year old father Max-Emanuel, both of the Wittelsbach family, are ahead of her in the line of succession. That claim is a mere intellectual curiosity these days, though obviously that wasn’t always the case.

That may not be correct - recent research shows a direct line not an oblique one. Simply being purist :)

I think it depends if Salic Law was deployed.
If it was, wouldn't Ernst of Hanover be our king ?😦

Wow ! @Maireas ! Showing your specialist knowledge!
(Sound of air whooshing over my head!)
👍

😂 I love all this, and read up on all the Hanovers!
Fascinating dynasty. Which is our lot, really.

Maireas · 04/03/2024 17:45

Interestingly, when George V was choosing a new dynastic name, he considered Guelph, Stuart and Plantagenet! Sadly not reverting to Hanover

No. Or at least that’s not the point about the Jacobite line.

Edited

Yes, I was on to the Hanovers! Separate issue.

In all these threads about Kate I have not seen anyone demand details of what operation she has had etc

I have just said a brief thank you statement from Kate would quell the nonsense rumours

As has been said several times, she's already issued one that meets your exact specifications. Sounds like you're still wanting more personal details.

Stickinthemuddle · 04/03/2024 18:22

The Hanovers were of course notorious for their BBLs as many period paintings will attest- modern historians originally assumed bustles were in place but a recent exhumation points to rudimentary surgery with pig bladders

Yes. They would stuff them with horse hair.
All the London publications would ask "Where is Queen Caroline? More horsehair arse appointments?"

ArcaneWireless · 04/03/2024 18:40

I think Queen Caroline would be mightily impressed with some of the bustles on here…

Careful @ArcaneWireless we are getting perilously close to the Mumsnet bum fight territory here 😆

Maireas · 04/03/2024 18:45

@smilesy 😂we love a good bum fight!

Horse hair bustles? I bet that was itchy!

No

But thanks for your concern, if a bit late

IcedPurple · 04/03/2024 19:10

Stop the presses!

The Princess in the Tower has been sighted.

Serenster · 04/03/2024 19:12

That’s a very grainy photo for modern photography. I wonder how far away from the road the photographer was?

Some are saying it's Pippa but it looks like Kate to me. I agree the quality of the photo is poor. Apparently it was taken somewhere near Windsor.
