Part 2 of a nice, unproblematic thread to discuss some of the fab outfits from the Duchess of Sussex, and some of the many great causes she (and Harry) and Archewell supports.

They’re both UK citizens aren’t they?

No 😂

pinkmont · 09/11/2023 19:34

I also wonder about the 'guiding' him, it is so strange.

She comes across super confident when she has a role or is giving a speech, otherwise she looks like she is feeling awkward and doesn't know what to do with herself, hence the getting 'involved' by guiding him to whatever he needs to do.

pinkmont · 09/11/2023 19:37

The other scenario could be his medication of choice causing him to not be totally with it, so she has to help him along😀.

skullbabe · 09/11/2023 19:39

Meghan and Harry were in San Diego to open the Warrior Training Centre, and visit military families and veterans at Camp Peddleton

Good initiative ahead of Veterans Day/Armitstice Day. Excellent way to bring attention to a worthy cause. Nice touch to wear poppies though some may disagree- I think Harry absolutely should wear one as a nod to his colleagues and Meghan wearing hers in support of her husband and his colleague is a reasonable choice. Interesting how them just living their lives and getting on with what interests them seems to attract such ire 🤷🏽‍♀️

TallerSally · 09/11/2023 19:54

Word, @skullbabe , both on the worthy causes and on this causing some folks to lose it.

Folks who take the time to look at what H&M are supporting (as opposed to obsessing about throwing brickbats at them) would find some interesting initiatives:

Operation Bigs: a mentoring program for children of military families
Scotty's Little Soldiers: an organization dedicated to supporting bereaved military children and young people

Very complementary to Invictus, which from the outside at least seems to be more focused on the vets themselves. These initiatives focus on their children.

Genuinely gives pause for thought, at a time when there is more devastating bereavement due to war going on in some parts of the world.

A 2023 Remembrance Letter From Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex | Scotty's Little Soldiers

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, wrote a letter to bereaved military children supported by military charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, for Remembrance Day 2023.

Yes but why doesn't he just get an actual job? It's a funny carry on, he acts like he's running a royal franchise and he isn't. Trading off the fame brought about by being part of a family he seems to loathe, going about doing royal waves and speeches.

It's all so very deluded imo. I'd have a teeny bit of respect for him if he spent his time surfing but this pretence that he's important for any other reason than he's the King's son is very odd.

@Janiie you're going to need to take a pass on this one.

First, read the title of this thread.

Second, since when is "As has been said repeatedly" proof of veracity?

I think we're trying to be positive on this thread.

Enough said.

Strange how the thread about Kate stays nice, yet this one is hijacked and turned into a bash by the usual people.

ALittleTeawithmilk · 09/11/2023 21:18

It’s not strange Samcro. It’s par for the course with some posters. So determined are they to criticise Harry and Meghan they can’t stand to have one single uncritical thread about them. They can’t show the same respect to a thread about Megan as is being shown to a thread being run about Catherine. I’m really sick of this shit.

They are deliberately derailing this thread. And mumsnetters have repeatedly requested people not do that. So I have to think they want to see this thread deleted too.

And the criticisms are the same ones they’ve been recycling for ever. It doesn’t matter to them if what they say in criticism is true or not. They just can’t stand a Prince who said his family life was pretty fucked upmostly because of the media, and consequently rejected living here and left. And they can’t stand the woman he loves and married because she’s an outgoing, confident American woman, and because of ‘something they can’t quite put their finger on.’

Roussette · 09/11/2023 21:25

Yes but why doesn't he just get an actual job?

That's the funniest thing I've read on here for a long while!!!

He can do what he wants! Tough tits to you, you're not paying for him!

Hear hear! The thread about Kate has been the most sycophantic thread I've read in ages but I have kept away and would not dream of derailing it, because for some..it means a lot.

How much can I like this post. 1000%

TabithatheTabbycat · 09/11/2023 21:32

I'm no fan of H&M but tend to agree that it's poor form to have digs at them on a thread like this.

That said, the post upthread about 'haters' probably didn't help.

Roussette · 09/11/2023 21:35

Probably
And I avoid that term
But do get called 'fangirls' and ' the fan club' and much worse

LadyMuckingabout · 09/11/2023 21:56

But why doesn’t Harry get a job? He is not a Prince of the United States. He is not representing the United Kingdom. Is his profession now “celebrity”?

Meghan may look very nice in her outfits and posters can of course be positive about those and indeed various sightings at concerts etc, but as for them opening things etc… it’s all a bit awkward and embarrassing now.

StormzyinaTCup · 09/11/2023 22:08

@Roussette but you yourself used that term on another thread when you asked whether the thread was going to turn into @xxxx 'fan club'.🤷‍♀️

ALittleTeawithmilk · 09/11/2023 22:45

I’ve just quickly scammed the thread on Kate and confirmed that my impression of it was right - there are no nasty pointed criticisms about Kate. William is mentioned more than once, and in positive ways. The spirit of the thread is maintained, and the OP’s request is honoured.

it’s very telling that some posters who have shown us repeatedly, on so very many threads, that they absolutely don’t like Meghan, have to come on this thread about Meghan to post shitty things about her. And about Harry too. The spirit of this thread is not honoured, and the OP’s requests are ignored by them.

It’s still up. It’s another one - written by the same poster - that was deleted.

Nice to see this thread and Earthshot are going well 😆😆😆 lots of negative comments on here about Meghan and lots of negative stuff about William on Earthshot, sooo glad I checked them both 😉

Meghan looks great (and Harry)
Earthshot is great

Thats my opinion on both Grin

StormzyinaTCup · 10/11/2023 01:15

I have just read the Earthshot thread😁

skullbabe · 10/11/2023 02:49

Yes but why doesn't he just get an actual job?

Why does that matter to you? What difference would him having a job make?

as for them opening things

Meghan and Harry attract lots of interest wherever they go and whatever they do. They drive clicks and attention - this is why you have many in the media repeatedly finding ways to bring them up regardless. Attending an opening and visiting a charity are good ways for them to use the inevitable attention they garner to things that they are interested in. It’s that simple and it’s why the organisations themselves are keen for their involvement.

skullbabe · 10/11/2023 02:55

Back to the theme of the thread - loved the pared down look of the blazer/trousers combo - I think she looked amazing at the opening.

That was not in relation to K&W. You know it wasn't. Once about endless posts on how wonderful someone was. I believe it was deleted anyway so irrelevant.
