@OrangeWoolCardiWrap - glad the Parker-Bowles are being invited. It was one area I felt the late Queen misstepped, when she invited Camila to join the family for Christmas but not her children. Obviously some years they wouldn’t have gone, but it made the late Queen look cold/out of touch to not see step-children as part of your family. I was always surprised she didn’t get more criticism for it.

Sandringham isn’t actually that large. I’ve done the tour there which shows the absolutely tiny staff rooms in the attic, which some of the RF have to stay in if they want to spend Christmas there. So it’s likely more a case of lack of bedrooms than deliberately excluding family members.

If your partner's children are adults then you have a totally different relationship with them. Ours are late 30s/early 40s and do their own thing at Christmas - think they'd be horrified if we asked them to drive 200 miles to see us on the day! Camilla's lot have avoided the limelight where possible so it'll be interesting to see any changes.

I think Camilla was quite happy for her children to be kept well out of the limelight whilst their own children were young.

Her granddaughter was included in William and Kate’s wedding so not like they were kept completely out of the way.

I think had Charles and Camilla wanted her children invited then, like Sophie’s dad was after her mum died, they would have been.

Sandringham might not be that large, but famously they’ve made cottages available for Fergie each year, for all the Middletons the year Kate was engaged but not married yet. And now there’s all the next generation to accommodate, that they can fit them in now shows they always could.

it was oddly old fashioned and rude to not see your son’s step-children as part of your family. Once Charles and Camilla married, they should have been invited, even if the step-children politely declined to spend time with their dad.

Them being there this year is good. Blended families are a very normal part of our society, as is not always getting on with all your bio family…

Sandringham has between 100 and 200 rooms set on 20,000 acres... it's hardly poky! We don't know much about it because it's privately owned by Charles.

Ok. I should have said that Sandringham House isn’t very large. The estate may have somewhere between 100 and 200 rooms, but that includes the cottages, offices and staff quarters. The acreage at Christmas is irrelevant unless you’re going to stay in a tent in the grounds.

Also it is amazingly open. The country park is open to the public all the time and is free, with lots of entrances , security must be a nightmare in that the public can get really close. I grew up and my dc have grown up walking the dog there, going on the fruit picking weekends , there’s a lovely playground etc The house is also good for a visit but is ticketed, my dc used to love looking at all the cars and the Queens personal petrol pumps !

Absolutely right Pilates. I saw mention of Sandringham so I looked up a lot of images - really it is so beautiful. And then forgot the topic title and posted to exclaim over it.

One of the people I follow on tik tok is very into the clothes worn by the royals, and apparently, American political figures. She made mention today that Ivanka Trump has been copying Kate’s style for years. Now it’s been pointed out to me, I can see it in quite a few of Ivanka’s choices in her White House fashion years

Matta of fact is on tik tok. I’ve mentioned her before on here I think. She discusses what European, Japanese and English royalty wear.
