The royal family

So- would you let someone borrow your lipgloss?

Princess of Wales (Catherine) was evidently not over-happy about M asking to borrow her. She did give it to her but supposedly made a 'disgusted face' as M wiped some on her finger than on her lips.

I think I am in the PofW camp here.

Years ago a work colleague who I barely new, came to work late and asked me if I had any mascara she could borrow. It happened that I did have and I gave it her (a bit reluctantly) as I felt it wasn't hygienic to share.

I'd never ask anyone if I could use their make up where it touches your skin.

I wouldn’t ask but I did lend mine recently to a good friend who is very clean

if I was in Kate’s position I would have said ‘yeah sure’ and if I felt like I didn’t want to use it again I would be discreet - I wouldn’t make a big deal of it

Athenen0ctua · 06/01/2023 18:04

I share lip balm with close family like my DS and my sisters.

TangledWebOfDeception · 06/01/2023 18:04

No I wouldn't. I'd hand it over if I really wanted to be nice/polite, but I'd not use it again. I'd also be a bit Hmm at being asked.

Scenekidfringe · 06/01/2023 18:05

Best friend? Yes.
Sister in Law? Probably not and we are really close. Its just a bit ick isn't it?

LuluBlakey1 · 06/01/2023 18:05

No- just DH when it's cold and he has dry lips.😁

bellinisurge · 06/01/2023 18:06

I'd give it to her and she could buy me a new one.

ConsistentlyClumsy · 06/01/2023 18:06

Almost certainly not, but definitely not if I was pregnant (as Kate was.)

TangledWebOfDeception · 06/01/2023 18:06

I do share with DH, but then we share many things...

Theunamedcat · 06/01/2023 18:06

Umm no

RewildingAmbridge · 06/01/2023 18:07

I share lip balm with DS and DH , that's it and I'm not particularly concerned about germs. More likely to share mascara , mouths are just full of germs and poor Kate wouldn't have known when that mouth was last anywhere near Harry's frost bitten appendage! 😁

MsFogi · 06/01/2023 18:07

No I would consider someone who asked me that to be far too over-familiar.

ReneBumsWombats · 06/01/2023 18:08

I'd rather not but I could live with it if it's applied with fingers rather than rubbed directly on like a lipstick. Kate can probably afford another pot if it bothers her.

Hollyhead · 06/01/2023 18:08

No I would find it gross - but would probably say yes then throw it away later.

TangledWebOfDeception · 06/01/2023 18:08

TangledWebOfDeception · 06/01/2023 18:06

I do share with DH, but then we share many things...

We share lip balm, I hasten to add! Neither of us wear lip gloss.

Iliveditwizbit · 06/01/2023 18:09

Well I’m sure Kate has plenty of lipgloss.

crisscrosscringle · 06/01/2023 18:09

Nope and I would have raised an eyebrow at even being asked. I suspect Meghan tried to be over familiar and 'girly' in a family where formality and distrust is the norm.

Montague22 · 06/01/2023 18:11

No
I’d either say I wasn’t well or hand it over and then bun it.
I’m funny about stuff like this though. Won’t share drinks, hate sharing food. Wouldn’t want to share any make up 🤢

AreOttersJustWetCats · 06/01/2023 18:12

The kind that gets rubbed on lips - only with DH.

The kind you dip your fingers in, I'd be okay with it if I thought the person had clean hands. I'm guessing royals wash their hands a lot (all that hand shaking).

TokyoSushi · 06/01/2023 18:13

I wouldn't be very keen, and I'd find it a slightly odd thing for somebody to ask.

I suppose Kate could have just got another one, but agree my initial reaction, and probably hers would be 'ew no!'

Hoppinggreen · 06/01/2023 18:13

Only with DD

OverCCCs · 06/01/2023 18:14

No. And I’d be annoyed to be asked, same as when a stranger next to me in a classroom asked to drink from my waterbottle. 😷I’m not risking your nasty germs because of your poor planning. I never forgot that, ha…

Shunkleisshiny · 06/01/2023 18:15

No, because I suffer from cold sores and I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. No, wait there are a couple of people I would curse them with it.

Never know when one will erupt.

Spectre8 · 06/01/2023 18:15

If it was family and I knew they weren't ill and didn't have cold sores then sure.

If it qas someone I really didn't know e.g. work colleague etc theb I would say no

mondaytosunday · 06/01/2023 18:15

No I would not. Not family or anyone. Yuck.

SproutsLCerVEGNoEgg · 06/01/2023 18:15

I wouldn't mind if someone did it like Megan did, with her fingers. There are only a few people I wouldn't mind using it directly on their lips.
