These were such a fun, carefree couple. How different his life would be now had they stayed together. Chelsea was very much part of the aristo set, clever, savvy & very well educated. She knew exactly what royal life entailed & ran a mile when things got serious. Smart girl.

I don't understand why he didn't leave the royal family to be with her? Live privately and away from the intrusion, that's surely what he wanted as well?.

Nurserymumm · 06/01/2023 06:08

I think Chelsy understood the ins & outs of the rf & wouldn't have pressured him in any way. She is very close to the York sisters still. Also she's from an extremely rich family in Zimbabwe, beautiful, very smart & well educated, marrying him probably just wasn't worth it to her. The same as Cressida Bónas & Florence St George. They all looked very similar. He had a type. Blonde, slim, athletic & aristocratic.

Why would this have anything to do with Meghan? It all happened before she was on the scene

Nurserymumm · 06/01/2023 06:22

I'm not sure Meghan would like the affectionate tone he used to describe his relationship with Chelsea. She's the one who got away.

It’s his memoir/biography, of course it’s going to include Chelsy? Everyone seems very surprised a book about Harry’s life covers topics about his life.

You are missing the dog whistle in the OP's post my dear. She says: They all looked very similar. He had a type. Blonde, slim, athletic & aristocratic

The one missing word is white. OP is saying Harry's life would be different but for the fact that he did marry his type and instead married a non-white woman who is not his type.

Meghan, you see is not blonde, slim, athletic & aristocratic, the only criteria he needed in a wife. Never mind that he is clearly besotted with his wife and the mother of his children, oh no, blonde white Chelsy is the one who got away.

Nurserymumm · 06/01/2023 06:41

No if you look back over his previous girlfriends they were all carbon copies of each other. And all mixed in high society with aristocracy. They had a very good understanding of Royal life. Nothing racist at all!

But whats your point OP? What's it got to do with Meghan?

MrsMaxDeWinter · 06/01/2023 06:53

Good question @fajitaaaa

fajitaaaa · 06/01/2023 06:54

I don't even know what the whole dog whistle thing is about. I just don't get what the OP's point is. I'm assuming Harry told Chelsy he was going to write about her they have a good relationship it seems. She was invited to the wedding and everything. Probably his first true love.

lollipoprainbow · 06/01/2023 06:57

The OP has started numerous threads about the book and seems to find it all hilarious.

NonTense · 06/01/2023 07:01

I can't read that article, what's the gossip here please? Or is it just that the queen didn't like Chelsea? If it's true that QEII made harry break up, hen she is responsible for a lot of this crap. Seems like she was in the habit to tell people who they could and couldn't be with, very strange and controlling Hmm

I have always though Chelsea and Harry seemed very close, shame he didn't end u with her but she's probably counting her blessings. I'd love to read an auto-biography by Chelsea TBH. She is enviably beautiful, smart and has had an interesting life. I hope he has been kind to her in his book.

LizziesTwin · 06/01/2023 07:03

Maybe H matured and started to see women as people and when he met one he liked he liked, he ignored the fact she wasn’t his stereotypical blonde and approached her? We do know that he initially valued looks over personality as we have heard he saw a photo of M & then wanted to be introduced to her. As he was a Prince she was happy to meet him, I’m sure that if he had been a veteran who did a bit of voluntary work and played football on Saturday mornings (rather than polo) with his friends he wouldn’t have been as successful in his approach.

NonTense · 06/01/2023 07:04

Also, the blonde, slim stuff is nonsense. I actually think Meghan and Chelsea are quite similar 'types'. it's not just about complexion is it, there is more to a type, both women come across as strong, wilful, sweet looking and fun. Chelsea did not come across as bitchy though, unlike Meghan who has that affected tone.

OP is shit stirring, Harry talks of Chelsy with great affection, saying he understands why she could not deal with the royal life. He calls her "Chels", says she is fun, uncomplicated, and has warm things to say about her.

ā€œI loved Chels’ ease, that she wasn’t complicated,ā€ he said, according to Page Six. ā€œShe didn’t care what anyone thought. She wore miniskirts and high-heeled boots, danced however she wanted, drank tequila like me, and all of this made me really happy. I couldn’t help what my grandmother thought about it. Or the people. And the last thing I wanted was for Chels to change to please them.ā€

How Meghan comes into it, the OP has not explained, but as Chelsy came to their wedding, and was Harry's longest relationship, longer even that Meghan's marriage to her first husband Trevor, I would say her existence is no surprise to Meghan.

How has a thread about Chelsy turned to calling Meghan bitchy?

How is it racist? Chelsea is African, she's Zimbabwean. That is ridiculous. It was well known in the press that Harry had a type. Meghan is equally beautiful, successful & clever.

Male gaze alert!

Yikes that sounds really ick, so sexist and lacking in self-awareness. Certainly doesn't have a feminist tone. Oh Harry! Envy <not envy

howrudeforme · 06/01/2023 07:33

If I remember correctly her father was a close associate of Mugabe and that was the controversy around her.

It's very similar to that "cool girl" quote about women who stuff hotdogs in their mouths.

MistletoeandBaileys · 06/01/2023 07:35

He seems to speak about her in a ā€œone who got awayā€ type vibe. And she is very close with the York sisters too.

At Harry and Megan’s wedding the camera kept focussing on her during the service.

She’s happily married with a son now so it would be nice to let her live her life. Writing about her has just reignited interest in her all over again which isn’t fair on her. Obviously she was a huge part of his life but still if it was me and the reason she left was media intrusion I would have left her out of the book.

sjxoxo · 06/01/2023 07:40

Agree this is a horrible thread and sounds much like it’s rooted in racism. I can’t understand how people have this much time to dedicate to bitching about Harry and Meghan!?! I find it really odd to be so bitchy about people you really dont know

Brefugee · 06/01/2023 07:42

Chelsea did not come across as bitchy though, unlike Meghan who has that affected tone.

that's odd. what "tone"? what i do notice these days is that people who speak on camera have a very peculiar inflection. More so if speaking to camera is part of but not their entire job (so newsreaders and presenters don't tend to do it, people being interviewed are)

It is noticeable in German too, and i think it's a subconscious attempt to sound as you ought to when speaking to camera or being interviewed.
