Thanks to @StormzyinaTCup for invoking @prh47bridge with her calm and insightful contributions. Smile

So her Maj has done it! Mind you, I don't see how she couldn't not have revoked his military honours in the circs, when Harry lost them for marrying an American actress, more or less.

Roussette · 13/01/2022 17:42

Storm I agree with you. She's in the last days of her life and to have a child such a disappointment is pretty galling. Everyone wants peace and tranquility at the end of their life, she's only human.

Very pleased to read that some action has been taken by the Queen

Puzzledandpissedoff · 13/01/2022 17:43

I do actually feel sad for the Queen, that must have been painful for her to do

Perhaps she'd have made it easier for herself if she hadn't done so much to enable him in the first place?

And no, the statement doesn't mention the HRH and all the BBC have got is the usual "royal source" allegedly saying this
However with the Beeb's reputation I'll wait to see on that one

EdithWeston · 13/01/2022 17:49

It pointedly didn't

Exactly

Look at the wording of the press release. There's no HRH in it.

And there always, always is when making a formal statement about a person who has and uses it.

Imabouttoexplode · 13/01/2022 17:50

How is the queen in the last days of her life? I know she's no spring chicken but she could go on for a while yet.

Vapeyvapevape · 13/01/2022 17:50

For the Queen to have done this ,she must think that there's some substance to the accusations otherwise wouldn't she have just stuck her head in the sand and carried on as normal ?

PrestonHood121 · 13/01/2022 17:51

Fergie must be beside herself right now lol

Roussette · 13/01/2022 17:51

'Days' as a manner of speaking. That's all.

Like we talk about the 'olden days'. We don't mean literally 'days' do we?

Well, quite a bit less - he was appointed to the position with the Royal Marines after the engagement was announced.

And he lost them when he chose to retire from official duties. Which makes sense, if you quit, you quit.

We'll never know - but it seems she decided she needed to act before the start of her Jubilee year even though the matter is far from resolved

I don't think you can stop being a Royal, if that's how you're born. In the UK, the status of royalty is a birthright.

It can be conferred upon you by virtue of marriage. But it can also be taken away, as you're not inherently royal.

Andrew is inherently royal (which says a lot about the BRF, eh). Him not using HRH is a recognition of the fact that he isn't deserving of that status. Same as Harry, who actively chose to leave royal life.

Diana had hers taken away as she wasn't born a royal, and divorced. Same for Fergie.

SerendipityJane · 13/01/2022 17:56

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Highness#United_Kingdom

...
In British constitutional law use of the style H.R.H. or simply "Royal Highness" may only be conferred by letters patent
...

I am no lawyer but that implies that until "letters patent" are issued with the opposite effect, the title/style still exists.

...

On January 18, 2020, Queen Elizabeth II announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer use the style of His/Her Royal Highness due to their decision to step down as working members of the British royal family, though they are still entitled (to the style).[27].
...

I would hazard a guess that H&Ms position makes things even more byzantine in this fairy tale.

Malariahilaria · 13/01/2022 17:57

Goodness. The Queen has just gone up a few notches in my estimation. Not enough to want to keep the RF going once she's gone mind but at least she's acknowledged that having a son playing with convicted paedophiles and sex traffickers isn't good for the crown. Took her a while tho. Is she still paying the legal fees I wonder?

SerendipityJane · 13/01/2022 17:57

PlanktonsComputerWife · 13/01/2022 17:58

@WinnietheW0rm fair enough

Malibuismysecrethome · 13/01/2022 18:02

Re the pedophiles at the BBC I was extremrr we my shocked to see that Eric Gill statue and how graphic it was with a grown male and a very young boy. Apparently depiciting Prospero, who on Earth commissioned, paid and authorised that! Talk about hiding in plain sight. I think it should be well and truly torn down disgusting piece of child abuse on their premises.

Oh, there's literally NO moral, logical or rational justification or excuse for the BRF in its current form. The idea holds about as much water as religion. The Church of England, say. Of which HM is the head. Ha!

The delusion Confused

Fair point, Edith; maybe they'll just avoid using it instead of taking any formal action then?

And never mind Fergie - let's spare a thought for the staff who have to be around him right now Hmm

Roussette · 13/01/2022 18:06

And Nicholas Witchell... of course when he talks on the News he has to drag in 'the Sussexes', stupid old fool

@derxa

*It's actually quite easy not to feel sorry for her when you suddenly remember how much wealth she has had these past 70 years while people have literally starved to death waiting for benefits claims Then you remember she's the head of a church that owns fucktonnes of land (more than you would every guess) while people go homeless whilst at the same time preaching charity.* It's all about money in your world isn't it.
Seriously, @derxa?

With all that money, she could have kept better tabs on her son, for starters. I can't believe the rumours didn't reach her.

But if she was a normal great grandma, my heart would truly bleed.

Vapeyvapevape · 13/01/2022 18:16

How can he ever show his face again? The humiliation must be beyond unbearable for him.

Vapeyvapevape · 13/01/2022 18:17

Or , has Charles had a hand in this ?

Roussette · 13/01/2022 18:18

Yes. He's always liked poncing about in uniform with enough medals to fill a dressing up box. This will be hell for him. He likes the prestige more than anyone.
