Prince Harry revealed in his Oprah interview that the Sussexes stopped receiving money from the royal family in the first quarter of 2020. However, newly published accounts reveal that Prince Charles continued to financially support the Sussexes until summer 2020.

I wonder if this is going to be a case of their truth or incorrect wording on Harry’s behalf. Interesting!

no they're laughing rainy - they have become figures of ridicule. They provide laugh out loud moment of bemused shock. They are not taken seriously by anyone.

Gosh, well that makes two posters so far who will not stand for any views contrary to their own on the Sussexes to have come out and said CT faked the death threat herself. And yet it’s others you call obsessed. Hmm

Roussette · 29/06/2021 18:03

I don't get this 'harping on' and 'whining' narrative. It's beyond me. It was mentioned in the OW interview 3 months ago. Not since. Whining means to pester continually. They are not doing that are they

They are not taken seriously by anyone

How come there's a lot of posters then who say differently? You cannot make a sweeping statement like that. Many many people out there feel different to you. Hard to accept I know, but it's true.

Roussette · 29/06/2021 18:05

To be fair... there is a lot of talk out there connected with the email address that Yahoo said didn't exist, and hadn't existed, to fuel the fire as far as the death threat to CT.

(Disclaimer... no one should receive death threads)

Allington · 29/06/2021 18:06

I don't hate them. I just see a lot of contradictions and am willing to point them out. If they didn't contradict themselves I would have nothing to say.

Marmalade can you link to where it says that absolutely no one in the UK wants to see them again?
Not seen that anywhere.
It's what you'd like but not true.

@Marmaladeagain

I agree.

They want to be perceived as worthy and credible but continually shoot themselves in the foot.

They could have left the RF and moved to the US without any of the drama that has ensured.

That path would have involved communicating, negotiating and compromising.

They chose not to do this and the consequences of those choices are theirs to own, be they financial, security orientated or public perception.

There are of course some people that admire their determination to to things "their way".

However, I think most people realise that life is often a series of negotiations and compromises.

It's very rare in life to have your lemon cake and eat it - especially when the expectation is that all the expensive organic ingredients are paid for by someone else.

Most people simply laugh at their audacity.

Serenster · 29/06/2021 18:18

@Rousette yes, there is a lot of discussion out there. There is also discussion of how the email was received via a web submission form - the kind where you put your email address in the box and your message in another box. The website then sends the email over. You can put any made up email address you want on the submission as it’s not being sent via your email channel (people experimented with various sites to check this was possible, and it was).

This is the kind of cognitive dissonance I referred to a couple of days ago. Once I realised, for example, that rather than accept that some of the Sussexes’s fanbase are fairly unpleasant I would have to choose to believe a respected journalist working for a UK broadsheet would fake a death threat to herself solely to get sympathy - well, I couldn’t do that kind of intellectual trickery any more.

Serenster Do not put that on me. ALL I said was there was a lot of talk out there.
I really don't need a ticking off!

'no they're laughing rainy - they have become figures of ridicule. They provide laugh out loud moment of bemused shock. They are not taken seriously by anyone.'

Yes it is bemusement and incredulity at those enabling the narrative they are desperately flogging. I do think the tide has turned and this victimhood story has worn thin, except in the US perhaps where they seem to lap it up.

DeRigueurMortis · 29/06/2021 18:32

today.yougov.com/topics/politics/articles-reports/2021/03/19/meghan-harry-oprah-favorability-poll

Most recent poll on H&M's US popularity.

Roussette · 29/06/2021 18:37

Interesting. Not that unfavourable and poll taken from 1,500 Adults in the whole of the US!

DeRigueurMortis · 29/06/2021 18:48

Not that unfavourable

Could equally be worded "not that favourable" either Wink.

Frankly (and obviously anecdotal) most people I know in the US are simply utterly disinterested in the pair of them.

Roussette · 29/06/2021 18:55

OIf course yes. I was expecting to see you link a poll that was dire, and it wasn't.
But to be honest, a poll of 1,500 adults out of a population of 336million doesn't mean a lot Grin

I'd agree with that but it's the best "data" available.

This reminds me of the banana cake that Meghan was widely reported to have lovingly baked whilst in Australia. It turned out the staff had baked it on her instructions. Several batches were apparently thrown away for not meeting the criteria.

Roussette · 29/06/2021 19:50

But.... if Kate made a cake and took it or sent it somewhere, everyone would be loving it.

Look when Charlotte delivered bags of homemade pasta or something, such positive press.
I just think it's unfair to criticise this.
