www.thesun.co.uk/news/10832298/prince-andrew-provides-zero-cooperation-after-fbi-ask-to-interview-him-over-epstein-links/

No surprise there, then.

Do we think he'll hold out for the threatened subpoena or will the renewed public spotlight mean he jumps before he's pushed?

It’s obviously taking an awfully long time for Andrew to remember the lines the Palace are feeding him! This is the reason for no response. He cannot be trusted. He will get his lines wrong!

DandyAndFine · 28/01/2020 20:33

I suspect the only lesson he’s learnt is to keep his mouth shut.

LaurieMarlow · 28/01/2020 20:49

i personally, don’t care if they lose all public good will for this or any other reason.

Me either, but you’d think he’d see the value.

Or his mother, if he’s too much of a dumb fuck to put it together.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 28/01/2020 21:14

I’ll bet all the food in my freezer that it’s being stressed in very clear terms by more than just his mother Grin

WeHaveSnowdrops · 29/01/2020 05:30

The palace say he's more than happy to talk to the FBI but he hasn't been approached yet according to the papers.

He's bewildered.

US justice system stinks. Non story from a man wanting his 15 minutes of fame.

Bluerussian · 29/01/2020 05:31

Just read he is annoyed at the story he is being unco-operative with the FBI, says it isn't true and he's prepared to talk whenever they ask. Apparently the rumour started because of something someone 'important' in America said while speaking publically./making a speech

I guessed it would be something like that.

SirChing · 29/01/2020 06:51

The biggest issue for me in all this is that it demonstrates the corruption of the RF. The Queen is in a position to be able to prevent the Met from pursuing criminal proceedings progress in this country, as part of her Head of State remit. So sure as hell, PA wont be investigated by police here.

So that leaves the US. Given that the furore with PA and The Sussexes is already seen as threat to the Monarchy, then the easiest way to get the RF off the hook would be for PA to help the FBI and be found innocent of all involvement.

That PA hasn't done that, speaks absolute volumes. Whatever he could reveal must surely have worse implications for the RF than keeping schtum and pissing off the public that way.

I have always been a royalist until now. That is rapidly changing.

WeHaveSnowdrops · 29/01/2020 07:02

Perhaps because he has yet to be asked, despite news reports yesterday.

didofido · 29/01/2020 07:31

According to "Today" this morning PA's legal people are annoyed. He has not responded to questions - because no one from the US has been in touch to ask any!

CathyorClaire · 29/01/2020 09:34

If he has nothing to hide there is no possible reason for him not to have volunteered to be questioned rather than sit cooling his heels and waiting for the US authorities to get round to him.

The fact he can't put out a statement saying that's what he's done is damning. Will be interesting to see if and how he spins his lack of proactivity.

Still at it, OP? You do know he says he will cooperate if asked but the chap all over the news yesterday was lying through his teeth? The usual way is to wait to be asked, it's how the law works in civilised countries.

didofido · 29/01/2020 10:54

Witnesses usually wait to be questioned. In fact volunteering information unasked is regarded as suspicious - too eager with excuses.

I think PA is probably an unpleasant, sleazy man, but he is not a convicted paedophile. It's unlikely that Epstein said " Hey Andy, I've trafficked this gorgeous 17 year old just for you". Much more likely Andrew was thick enough to believe she fancied him, 'cos he's a Prince.

Bluerussian · 29/01/2020 12:33

The fact he can't put out a statement saying that's what he's done is damning.

It is and it isn't. Prince Andrew will have taken legal advice and would have been told to keep quiet.

LaurieMarlow · 29/01/2020 12:36

Is it that the FBI are expecting him to come forward if his own volition, but won’t demand an interview because it’s politically sensitive for them to do so?

SirChing · 29/01/2020 13:45

Surely if the FBI demand an interview there would be questions raised as to why the Met haven't. Apparently in tbe paper it said that the Queen had been asked re the Met investigating.....then they went quiet about it. Funny that!

LittleSweet · 29/01/2020 17:55

If PA is so bewildered and angry I'm sure one of his staff could set up a phone call with the FBI...

CathyorClaire · 29/01/2020 18:37

It might well be usual to wait to be asked but when a very high profile someone hasn't been shy about trumpeting his side of the story and his sense of honour via national TV it's not too much to wonder why that sense of honour doesn't extend to offering an informal chat with investigators. At the very least it would win him a few PR brownie points.

"The Southern District of New York and the FBI have contacted Prince Andrew's attorneys and requested to interview Prince Andrew, and to date, Prince Andrew has provided zero cooperation,"

But PA says no requests have been received

Diametrically opposite accounts of what has happened.

Difficult for an outsider to know where there might be error, and who if anyone is lying

BilboBercow · 29/01/2020 18:52

This thread is depressingly slow moving compared to the 16 threads on H&M. Prince Andrew slept with a trafficked child and hung out with a known paedophile. What's Harry and Meghan's crime again?

LochJessMonster · 29/01/2020 19:01

If they'll send us Anne Sacoolas, we'll send them Prince Andrew this

She killed someone. A child. And she knows it which is why she fled

PA hasn’t done anything illegal (she was over the age of consent) and even if he did know the girl was trafficked, there will never be the evidence to convict him.

America has some cheek.

RoseAndRose · 29/01/2020 19:02

Why on earth wouid anyone think H&M need to be criminals for people to want to talk about them?

DandyAndFine · 29/01/2020 20:11

@BilboBercow then get it moving. Post a comment about the Prince Andrew’s situation rather than simply comparing it to M&H threads.

You can always take tips from those threads regarding why they write so fast-moving: pad this one out with historical facts about the Royal Family; cat photos; in-fights about the existence of the threads (kudos to you for using that strategy already ✔️); references to blind items; updates on what you’re having for dinner; memes; discussion about the fashion on ‘Suits’; and discussion about newspaper articles of their last engagements, pap photos, and new posts on the Sussex’s Instagram.

What a shame that Prince Andrew doesn’t have an Instagram account he’s updating to give us something to comment on. We’re missing out on throwback Thursday photos of him and Epstein and trafficked teenage girls. As Trump would say: sad.

Met Police reportedly considering re-opening their investigation into Epstein:

The non-sweating prince might find that a cure.
