No surprise there, then.

Do we think he'll hold out for the threatened subpoena or will the renewed public spotlight mean he jumps before he's pushed?

@PurpleOkapi

Thank you for setting out the relevant points in the case so clearly.

2nd this-thank you!

diddl · 11/08/2021 08:17

"There's no chance of extradition, because what he's accused of doing isn't illegal in the UK."

Doesn't that hinge on whether or not she was trafficked/he knew?

Roundlampshade · 11/08/2021 08:25

PA is too stupid to question why a young girl was in London under coercion. Don’t forget this is the guy who smashed his car through the Windsor estate gates because he was too impatient to wait for them to fully open.

Also, there’s always Zoom. Is there a reason why he cannot attend the civil court case via video link from Royal Lodge?

CathyorClaire · 11/08/2021 11:20

Total mess.

If he settles out of court it will be perceived as a tacit admission of guilt. Talking could not only have the charges upheld which would be devastating for the monarchy but could provide the basis for a criminal case.

Even if he plays the criminal immunity card it presumably wouldn't protect him from any fallout from the upcoming Maxwell trial where he must be aware the chances are she's going to be singing like a flock of canaries in return for a plea deal.

He must be sweating like a glassblower's arse.

PA’s biggest problem is he is so full of his own self importance, he genuinely seems to believe he can do no wrong. I know from someone who used to come in to contact with him that he is not liked by those who have to work with him.

Rainbunny · 11/08/2021 12:53

Well I completely believe Viginia Guiffre for what its worth.

I can also believe that PA, being so utterly arrogant, genuinely believed that a beautiful young woman/girl would actually want to have sex with him -a portly, fleshy, sweaty middle aged father of girls the same age as her. Anyone else would suspect something bad was going on after spending time around Epstein but PA might the one arrogant idiot on this planet who believed that lots of young women/girls were happily hanging around Epstein and loving all the "fun" they were pretending to have.

I remember reading a profile of PA a few years ago when this all started to kick off. Basically he is a very unpleasant man, full of self importance and entitlement, thick but thinks he's very clever, a nightmare to work for and interestingly a rather lonely, pathetic man. The profile highlighted the fact that he really doesn't have any friends and struggles to find anyone interesed to play a round of golf with him, which is why he has happily consorted with dodgy people for years -he likes to be spolied and they pretend to like him. His only siblings dislike him from what I've read.

Roussette · 11/08/2021 13:06

The only one in the family who has any time for him is his mother the Queen. What does that say? A mother's love that sees no faults.

None of this surprises me in the slightest. He has always had a huge sense of entitlement, there have been many many times he has abused his position, whether that's for backhanders, making money from despotic regimes, enabling arms deals, or selling a house for millions more than it's worth.
His Wiki page is an absolute eye opener at what sort of man he actually is.

If this was someone who had an exemplary record prior to this, I might be treating the whole thing with a bit more understanding, but no. This is the man, this is him.

And how his ex wife can spout what a wonderful kind honest person he is endlessly this last week, I do not know. He is bankrolling her, hence us the taxpayer, which means she needs to do this to have money. I presume that's the reason. I just don't want to hear what a wonder Grandfather he is to August... so have the worst people been the same.
I watched something on TV last night about the conviction of the head of the biggest drug smuggling operation in the UK. They allowed him to ring his young son, how sweet and tender he was with him on the phone. He's still an evil evil man.

OliviaBean · 11/08/2021 13:16

I bet PC & PW would love to get rid of him, he is a liability to the institution of monarchy, their hands are more than likely tied due to the Queen.

Horrible individual. HIs ex wife knows to keep on his good side to keep the money rolling.

SnottyLottie · 11/08/2021 13:45

Slightly off topic, but does Andrew still financially support Sarah?!!

dopenguinsdance · 11/08/2021 15:09

Exactly what PurpleOkapi says. Guiffre has to prove her case. PA or anyone she accuses isn't required to advance a positive case in reply or to assist her. Those who say that he should co-operate are being naive.
From a completely non-partisan POV, I suspect JG expected an NDA-type settlement and that's not happened. She's either very sure that she's got enough to convince a jury or is playing a high-stakes game of chicken. Having said that, I doubt that there's any chance of a non-partisan jury hearing this case if it ever goes to trial. PA has already been convicted by the media because as the victim JG can't possibly be lying/driven by anything as mundane as cash (cf. the Dershowitz proceedings). The perceived power imbalance and PA's foreignness in terms of nationality and status exclude any notion of this being a level playing field. JG's lawyers are working on a CFA and must be anticipating a big payday. This one will run for some time yet.

Viviennemary · 11/08/2021 16:16

It won't come to anything. Surely a pay-off is more or less an admission of guilt. Would we even be told there has been a pay off.

Plumtree391 · 11/08/2021 16:28

I don't think there should be a pay off, not that it's my decision to make.

Roussette · 11/08/2021 16:41

It will come to something and I imagine that will be a pay off. Not the first time. His choices are becoming more and more limited and ignoring it and hoping it goes away is not happening.

CovidCorvid · 11/08/2021 16:43

I think it's probably more likely she supports him these days - I think she's made quite a bit of money through various promotion stuff, books, etc. What does he get an income from? Mummy?
Anordinarymum · 11/08/2021 16:43

@WeHaveSnowdrops

The US have a cheek given their refusal to extradite the woman who killed that young man outside thee spy base.

Let's give him chance to co operate without the grandstanding of the FBI.

Well said that woman
diddl · 11/08/2021 17:18

"She's either very sure that she's got enough to convince a jury"

Then wouldn't the FBI have investigated & questioned him?

meercat23 · 11/08/2021 17:25

I can also quite believe that his arrogance and entitlement would allow him to believe that, of course, any number of young women would be only to eager to be with him in any way he wanted. So he may genuinely have not realised that these girls were being forced to be with him and were being used by JE and GM to tie influential people to them. But, and it is a huge but, there is no way that he could have looked at that young girl as she appeared in the picture at Maxwell's house and not understand that it would be totally inappropriate to be casually involved with a girl who was very obviously and literally young enough to be his daughter.
Viviennemary · 11/08/2021 17:31

What does traffic actually mean. If girls are lured with expensive presents and holidays and luxury living. Is that trafficked. Legally speaking.

Pixxie7 · 11/08/2021 17:37

I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but to my mind he is just confirming his guilt. So hope he gets everything he deserves.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/08/2021 17:43

Would we even be told there has been a pay off

Not by the RF we wouldn't, which just leaves the possibility of Giuffre blabbing
I realise there'd be an NDA, but whether that's enforceable when someone lives abroad I honestly don't know

Overall it's clear Andrew's okay while mummy lives - what'll happen after is anyone's guess - so for now they'll probably just stick with disdaining the peasants while using all that expensive PR to pretend they're not

Roussette · 11/08/2021 17:45

I think it's probably more likely she supports him these days

I doubt that very much! He's a member of the RF after all, It's like saying someone supports Charles!

His income comes from the Queen/Duchy of Lancaster. But he's wealthy himself, given he bought a £220,000 Bentley in April of this year.
Sarah Ferguson won't have a bean. Which is why she lives at Royal Lodge, the massive pile he's at too. Apparently they have half the 30 bedrooms each!

Roussette · 11/08/2021 17:47

Yes.

They are groomed with promises. It's deception.

With regard to this though he is an adult who can take legal advice & act on ot/ignore it as he wishes.

Whether he would/should still be housed/funded after HM's death is another matter, but might have no bearing on this.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/08/2021 18:22

He is an adult who can take legal advice & act on ot/ignore it as he wishes

Absolutely true, though in a case like this I'd be surprised if they weren't the RF's solicitors - who may well be mindful of agendas other than those of pure law

Basically what I'm saying is that absolutely nothing to do with the RF is necessarily as it appears; it's the ultimate game of smoke and mirrors, though of some passing entertainment in its way
