Prison Dramas, Bands and Ouija Boards - the Excellent Cats audition, sing and plot

Our feline overlords have so many current strings to their joint and several bows.

Auditioning for Series One of The Prison Cat, forming a band, and continuing to plot against their enemies by means of their Ouija Boards - will they even have time to sleep now?

Press your finger down on the photo & see if a menu comes up, @learieonthewildmoor.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/11/2025 09:33

@learieonthewildmoor to download a picture, press down on the image, and a menu will appear.

"Download image" will be one of the options. Click on it.

Alternatively, borrow a random teenager from somewhere and ask them to show you how to do this.

Ooh I didn't know about this! I have previously just taken a screenshot and trimmed it! Thanks Broon !

Well I've had a shitty day - new kitten Pebbles went AWOL early this morning 😭 Hours spent walking the streets looking for him and a desperate plea on the local Facebook lost and found pets page.

He rocked up at 8pm, hungry but purring his head off 🙄😻

Pebbles is so cute! And I love the name! Any link to the Flintstones, or just a name that suited him? (🤞🏼Hoping to see a feline BamBam!)

LostCats2 · 16/11/2025 14:16

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne how much did the theft of the food add up to? I must know! £2.30?

LostCats2 · 16/11/2025 14:17

I think I'm wrong (but it does feel that way) but I think I saw somewhere recently that food has increased by 37% since Covid!

Pianoaholic · 14/11/2025 15:49

I think he will forgive him!
I think Herbie likes to stand out against the bright coloured bedding (no camouflage for him!)

Surely it’s an honour?

EmpressaurusKitty · 16/11/2025 16:56

Kitty’s just strolled in wanting her tea. I hadn’t seen her for the past 2 hours, I knew she couldn’t have left the flat but I was starting to wonder if she’d moved to another dimension. I was about to open a lick-e-lix & start waving it around when she rematerialised.

All I can think of is that she was asleep under the bed.

HumanToCatBeasties · 16/11/2025 17:22

Cats can definitively shift to another dimension occasionally when they want to worry us. The number of times I've gone looking for Matilda, who's not the smallest of beasts, in a two bed house and not been able to find her anywhere. A shake of a dreamies package soon summons them back though. Kitty might need to be careful with all the ouija board activity though, who knows what she's summoned and where it might be lurking. 😂

Well, that’s the other thing… no weird lights in the sky tonight though!

Aha!

No. Does anyone else want to guess?

I daresay it has, but remember that this episode of Crown Court was filmed in 1972.

Decimalisation took place in 1971.

Eight and six (or 42 and a half p in the new money 😁)

Aye, you sure are.

The sum was actually in new pence.

For the youngsters on the thread

(that's everyone except me and Grumpy)

"new pence" was how the currency was referred to in 1971.

Hell, we even had halfpenny pieces back then! They were tiny.

You can buy them for £1 on Ebay if you feel like wasting 99 and a half p.

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/11/2025 21:47

And Grumpy your guess is also wrong, although nowhere near as wrong as Lost's is.

This is going to turn into one of those annoying "How old do I look" threads, where the OP doesn't admit she's 102 until there are 864 posts.

I don't know if anyone remembers Bramble the kitten from a year ago.
Here she is with her dog companion.
She's my friend's cat.

Bramble is now a year old.
I was sent this photo of her today, braving the woods.

Well. Something interesting and not cat-related:

DD2 had a friend visiting her last week. They went to the village pub, as you do. Imagine their surprise, two days later, to see a FB post from Police Scotland about a missing person.

Friend: Here, look at this. Isn't that the bloke we were talking to at the pub the other night?

DD2: The one who didn't seem to know his name and who went behind the bar and helped himself to a shot of whisky?

Friend: Yep.

(DD2 examines picture)

DD2: It is him!

In true Mumsnet style, the jolly chums then logged this with 101.
This resulted in the police actually coming to the house to interview them.

Then the police returned to interview them again the next day, because they didn't believe them.

However, the police eventually did believe them when further details emerged, which my daughter and her friend couldn't have known unless the bloke had told them himself.

Ooh @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne clearly DD2 and friend now needs to start doing some investigations themselves and then they'll end up finding the missing chap along with the gold he stole, thus they will get a large reward. Or, they'll find him, he'd had a bang on the head which caused amnesia and for him to act out of character (going behind the bar and stealing a drink), and then he turns out to be a rich man who rewards them for reuniting him with his family and fortune.

RumNotRun · 16/11/2025 22:23

I may have been reading a few too many cosy detective tales recently, such as Bookish which was great (even if I can't watch the series cause Now no longer works on my TV).

Isn't Bookish on YouTube or Prime?

Well now, the missing man was only 22 and he was staying at the pub that night (rooms above - he didn't sleep on the floor of the bar 🤣).

He hasn't been seen since he left our village the next day on the bus to Glasgow. Well, he was seen in Glasgow Buchanan St. when he got off the bus, then he hasn't been seen since. You'd think the intrepid polis would be able to track him on CCTV.

He seems to have left his home in England, rocked up on the Isle of Arran, abandoned his car there and taken the ferry to our village where he met DD2 and her friend (and stole a glass of whisky).

No, Bookush is only on U & Alibi (I think that's the channel name) which is only available on Virgin, Sky, or Now. I'm sure it'll be available elsewhere in time.

I hope the lad is safe and well, either found and reunited if that's best, or just found and left alone. Poor kid.

RumNotRun · 16/11/2025 22:48

Tonight Lex was very concerned about my bath. I think he was less concerned for my general wellbeing and more concerned about who would feed him if I drowned.

Just to remind you all: the competition remains open, and I've added a valuable prize now.

"The shopping he stole was:

1lb rice
Small drum curry powder
One orange
1lb minced beef

Would anyone like to guess how much this came to - it was 1972"
