Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

I bought a Halloween soft toy from Aldi on the weekend, no particular reason other than it was cute. Frank, despite never being bothered by anything like this before, has now claimed it as his own. He also appears to have lost his arms and legs.

I hope Frank finds his paws again!

Kitty’s temporarily lost interest in the Ouija board, I think because she’s been finding some other bits in her toybox.

I’m pretty sure she & Bertram the Camel are plotting something.

Fred still plays with the ouija board, often with the "board" part pulled off. Tonight he was very concerned because I was in the bath. He kept peering round the door to see if I was ok.

How kind of him!

@Pudmyboy the 'Donut' cat you mentioned sounds lovely.
We haven't had any fireworks round here yet, but Herbie does get very spooked by them.

Maybe he knew that he'd cast a Bad Spell and was worried that he'd accidentally killed you off, so there would be nobody available to open pouches of cat food anymore.

Kettle is not using his new bed because he's not actually sleepy, he's just come to remind me that it's only 2 hours until his tea time. Just in case I forget.

I wonder if he’s been learning telepathic skills from Kitty?

Pudmyboy · 20/10/2025 17:40

I'm not on Instagram so found Elsie via Google: that's amazing! She got what she wanted from her slave!

I am sure I have seen something similar involving a woman with several cats and those speech buzzer thingies. Always knew cats were smart!

Dogs would just need three: a very robust one for 'food', one for 'strokes' (inc tummy rubs) and one for 'walkies'.

RumNotRun · 20/10/2025 17:57

That's pretty impressive @Defiantly41

I first saw one of those toys on Beebsposting FB page. She went nuts for it so when I saw the ouija board I had to buy it.

Not sure I'd call it telepathy but he is very skilled in non-verbal interspecies communication if the subject involves food and how much he wants some.

My sister’s dog had some of those. DSis had to stop using the treats one in the end because he never stopped pressing it.

Kitty wasn’t bothered about a few fireworks yesterday but the Diwali ones are really loud tonight & she’s hiding under the sofa. She came out briefly for a Lick-e-lix & then went back under. I wish they’d bloody ban noisy fireworks & limit all fireworks to licensed displays. 😡

Pudmyboy · 20/10/2025 21:54

Absolutely agree! Round my way (Midlands) there's fireworks for one thing or another from September until New Year and later. The lights aren't bad but the bangs are so bloody noisy and some streets act as amplifiers so they really boom !

Kitty’s snuggled in the under bed drawer now & seems fine. How did Pud used to be with them?

Surprisingly indifferent, but he was a local boy so was brought up with them, so to speak.
I hope Kitty is okay and sleeps through the rest of the blasted things.

Also, municipal fireworks displays are much better than anything anymore can put on in their gardens!

Allergictoironing · 20/10/2025 22:19

Had what I consider a massive breakthrough with Tobias yesterday. The wonderful Annie came round to help me with a few bits around the house, and as usual spoilt him a bit (this time with a Churu Pops). And he happily let her scritch his back - twice!!! He's never let her touch him before now.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/10/2025 22:40

Oh well done Tobias!

He's a teeny tiny boy, only 9 weeks old according to the vet. He was abandoned but very healthy 😿

Don't talk to me about under bed drawers.

Gizmo has become obsessed with opening one of mine. I don't know why, because he doesn't get in - he just pokes at it, opens it, then leaves it there for me to trip over.

Note to self: pay more attention when next to bed, at least till Gizmo gets fed up of booby-trapping drawers.
