Yeah, right.

Linney is more suitable.

At least he's actually a Scottish cat.

Gizmo is an English interloper, who only came to Scotland in order to get behind my bathroom cupboard.

Linney is trying to tell me something, I think.

This morning, I heard the miaowing from him which signifies:

"I've brought you a dead animal to eat"

So out I went, and there was a dead mouse lying beside him. Sighing, I got a plastic bag and disposed of it.

Ten minutes later, Linney deposited a dead vole on the front step.

I disposed of that, too, then went to church.

On my return, Linney was nowhere to be seen, but he'd left me a dead rat on the steps this time.

Well, I've chucked that out, too.

Gizmo is (for once in his not-especially-blameless life) innocent. He was asleep in his donut the whole time.

Honestly you sound very picky and ungrateful. He's provided three different flavours of rodent and you didn't eat any of them? You could have at least tried a few bites. YABU.

I was getting my own back for the Felix Cod Pouches Debacle of 2022.

Right. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app for Mumsnet. It looks very different to the website, in that there aren't page numbers for threads so I had to scroll and scroll and scroll, , I can't see how to add hearts, but hopefully I have uploaded the blasted picture I took in M&S yesterday!

Finlay is snoozing whilst I knit! Excited here I’m going to be a Grannie next year
Finn had a quick chew of my needles then lost interest thankfully

Lovely! I would normally just add a ❤️ to your post to avoid filling up the thread, but the 'new' Mumsnet will only allow a 'thanks'. I admire your knitting skills and Finlay's magnificent teeth marks!

JaceLancs · 12/10/2025 23:33

Thank you @Pudmyboy x

RumNotRun · 13/10/2025 00:03

@Pudmyboythat is an excellent card, and congrats @JaceLancs

I have finally managed the two handed Lick-e-lix feeding with Fred and Frank. I don't know what'll happen if Raven or one of the others also wants a Lick-e-lix at the same time, but at least these two are happy and ready for bed now.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/10/2025 03:58

Love the card @Pudmyboy and adding congrsts to you @JaceLancs .

Pianoaholic · 13/10/2025 07:31

Congratulations @JaceLancs that is exciting news!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/10/2025 07:46

I've had a dreadful night's sleep and this morning have got up feeling very stiff and uncomfortable.
With apologies for the poor quality of the picture - I think I know why. Pinned down all night by four bloody cats 🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️🐈‍⬛️

That's an awesome picture and I might have to put that calendar on my Christmas wish list!
Edit - nvm, it's a card, not a calendar. Booooo!

Broon, Linney was going up in rodent sizes there so what's next? Squirrel, and then depending on how close to a zoo... beaver or capybara?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/10/2025 15:43

Ollie is visiting...

Are those black freckles on his nose, or has he been rootling about in compost?

His coat does look a bit lush in the close ups...

Pretty sure they are permanent features 😹

There are lots of deer around here.
They actually come round the complex at night, and eat the plants.

I have confided (about my marital disaster) in another woman friend.

She gave me a lift to the village hall, where it was Flu Jab Clinic Day.

Then she came round for tea and a long chat.

She has very kindly offered to take any of the cats up to the vet's, in emergency situations. People have been very supportive.

My friend also told me that she recognised Gizmo, who seems to be roaming quite far from here. But he does always come home, so.........

I’m glad you’ve got such good friends, @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne.

I’m looking after a friend’s cat, a very lovely calico senior called Isla. She greets me with friendly meows & gets on my lap as soon as I sit down. Kitty is intrigued by the smells.

Ah Grumpy, they just love you and want to be close to you because you're essentially a horizontal radiator

Allergictoironing · 14/10/2025 09:47

Kitty is intrigued by the smells.

Mine don't give a flying one about me coming home smelling of other cats; in fact they don't care if I come home smelling of (dare I say it?) - D.O.G.S.

And we aren't just talking about Annie's cats, or NDN's dog, it can be any strange cat or dog I've met anywhere. Mine just completely ignore it, business as usual.

I think it's because they know full well they own me, and however much I talk to others it's always them I'll come home to. They get more stressed if I get home later than about 6:30pm.

@Allergictoironing - I've never seen any evidence that ours are bothered by other cat (or dog) scents on me either. I can go out to stroke and be savaged by Ollie in exactly the same way that I used to with Gizmo. Never a problem with exNDN's dogs either. Our cats never seem to react at all to it.

Breadcat24 · 14/10/2025 12:16

We are having a dog to stay with us this weekend! Obviously no cat to upset now, but we have never had a dog in the house so it will seem weird.
Dog is however a sweetie and called Kenny Dogleash

Esgaroth · 14/10/2025 12:46

Kenny Dogleash 😆

Enjoy him, I love dogs. Much more work than cats, though. What kind is he?

RumNotRun · 14/10/2025 12:56

@JaceLancsFinlay has a name twin in Scotland who also likes roaming.

@Esgaroth Kenny is something to doo with a poodle - labradoodle or cockapoo or something poo. He is medium size white and woolly. Looks like the dog in flash advert
