Evening all. I've just caught up.

Had our boys at the vets yesterday for their boosters and health check. Benny is the picture of health. No concerns there. I mentioned that Walter has become a bit of a food pest, having previously been not that bothered. He's not screaming at me for food or anything, but he's far more interested in what we're eating and trying to pinch it. Anyway, he's lost a little bit of weight. I hope it's down to being more active over the summer. The vet talked about the possibility of diabetes or thyroid disease (Walter is 11 now) and I was given the choice of doing bloods now or monitoring his weight for about 8 weeks. If he loses any more weight then they'd strongly recommend testing. I opted for a watch and wait approach. He seems so healthy otherwise, is happy, active etc. And he's not going crazy for food. Plus money is extremely tight right now. I know that's a crap reason. They are insured if he needs treatment. Anyway, fast forward to tonight and he's been loitering by the food bowls and staring at me, having already been fed. In the end I caved and he's eaten almost an extra pouch. Keeping a very close eye and I'll get him back to the vets for the tests if needs be. I weighed him today on my scales too so I can keep a close eye on his weight.

RumNotRun · 19/09/2025 22:35

@coastergirli hope he's ok.

Mine always slim down in the summer. I took Vix to the vet this time last year as I was worried that she had lost more weight than usual. They gave her extra strong flea treatment and she soon put weight back on. Apparently Advantage is fine for most of my cats, but Madam needs the expensive stuff!

Lex and Toad are still obsessed by the glamping tent and have been snuggling together for most of the day. They're so cute.

Oh my two boys were in love with your photos earlier of them squeezed into the tent!

RumNotRun · 19/09/2025 23:23

@coastergirlthey have been ridiculous with this tent. It doesn't look comfortable for both of them to squeeze in there. I'm not sure if they're being loving or just both refuse to give up the cosy bed! I've ordered another one but probably by the time it arrives, the tent love will be over and both will be unused!

learieonthewildmoor · 20/09/2025 02:37

Let them squeeze into the one. They both look happy.

Did somebody say chicken?

What a lovely face!

Cat Three trying to snuggle with Cat One, and Four in a too small box.
Can you see Two in the tv unit?

I have just been for a rainy walk and met a very handsome NMC who happily accepted strikes and gave me love nibbles.

@RumNotRun, can we have a better look at your tattoos? I think I saw a cat.

That fucking arch-idiot Gizmo finally succeeded in his quest to explore behind the bathroom cupboard.

I was in the bathroom, cleaning, and I accidentally left the door open, so Gizmo padded in behind me, then he jumped into the bathroom cupboard.
I'd foolishly left that door open, too.

The next thing I knew, he'd completely disappeared.

I'm not sure where he got to but he didn't hurry himself coming back out again.

He must have been exploring, in the dark, at his leisure.

I have to agree with everyone that cat four's tail is absolutely magnificent.

Unrepentant, he's having a nap now.

We have a similar 'portal' underneath our kitchen sink. Woe betide if we leave the door open and unattended... cats disappear behind our run of kitchen cabinets... finally reappearing covered in builders' dust and crap left there from when the kitchen was fitted about 15 years ago!

Very pleased TC is still causing trouble.
Meanwhile GT is on the shed roof...

RumNotRun · 20/09/2025 19:15

@EmpressaurusKitty I have far too many to show all of them, but I have four cat tattoos. A black outline of a sphinx cat on the side of my left thigh, a black cat in a kind of painting style on the side of my right thigh, and these two on my left lower arm and hand. The colourful one was a cross between a Japanese lucky cat (maneki-neko) and a Mexican Day of the Dead cat. The one on my hand was a cat that the tattooist drew up. I said he could do anything but I particularly like cats.

That hand tattoo is amazing! Puts my two cat tattoos to shame

RumNotRun · 20/09/2025 20:25

Thanks @EmpressaurusKitty and @DrDisrespect I love it.

HumanToCatBeasties · 20/09/2025 20:47

Wow! @RumNotRun That one on your hand almost looks like a photo. I've always fancied getting a tattoo, but finding a suitable image and a tattoo artist whose style I like has always seemed a bit daunting.

RumNotRun · 20/09/2025 22:21

I'm lucky cause years ago, I found an artist I loved for the tattoo style I wanted. Through him I have met so many fantastic artists from around the world and introduced to others via social media. They are not cheap and often require a lot of travelling (so I used to link it with a weekend away), but their work is of a standard that I am either happy giving them total free reign, or just giving a subject and letting them do their own thing within that parameter.

My current project (although it's been on hold for 18months) is a Terry Pratchett themed back piece. So far, I've only had two of the witches and their cat, but I will book the next session soon. It's going to take a long time, but it'll be totally worth it!

Sorry, I can bore for hours on tattoos!

Back to cats, Lex and Toad are back to snuggling in the tent after a day of taking it in turns to have it to themselves. Each time one of them got out, the other would run to reclaim the tent. Silly boys
