Calling all cats! Come and get some chicken.

I used to shut mine out at night, but Boris started running down the landing doing a war cry like miaow and doing what I can only assume was some kind of barrel roll into the door with' a massive crash. As I live in a terrace I thought my nice neighbours didn't deserve that antisocial behaviour, so I have to put up with him poking me in the face for pre breakfast.

Matilda's normally a snuggly cat who likes sleeping on me, but she's deserted me recently for the top of the cat tree. I'm not sure if there's something wrong, she's still sulking because I left them overnight twice in two weeks or it's just a random cat preference. I'd been worried she seemed a bit lethargic, but I got an enthusiastic greeting off both of them when I got home from work and she went sprinting outside like a kitten when I opened the back door to throw the rubbish out. Cats, they're designed to both worry and puzzle us.

EmpressaurusKitty · 08/09/2025 19:13

My neighbour’s just sent me an absolutely lovely video of her giving Kitty head rubs & playing her favourite game with her.

Kitty’s obviously worked out that she has to be nice to the person providing the food.

Cats, they're designed to both worry and puzzle us.

And cost us a bleeding fortune.

And look adorable whilst doing so.

Snowcat did not come to supervise my bath tonight but she left a pile of toy mice outside the bedroom in case I need anything overnight.

How kind of her!

I saw a Pugliese NMC! It didn’t stick around for long so I couldn’t get a good photo of its face, but it reminded me of Herbie.

Yes, a little more black fur than Herbie has.
I think Herbie's Italian equivalent would be better behaved somehow?!
Hope you're having a lovely time in Italy.

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/09/2025 15:54

Loving it, thank you!

The cat wasn’t at all rude, I think just either nervous or had somewhere to be.

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/09/2025 18:02

Oh and I saw this though I haven’t been in, since Kitty has more than enough toys already.

Surely Kitty needs a present brought back?!

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/09/2025 19:43

Kitty’s lovely cat sitting neighbour needs a present brought back. Kitty’s only just got her Ouija board & I’m thinking about getting a new piece of balcony furniture for her Christmas present.
Although I’ll be passing that shop tomorrow so I expect I’ll pop in.

RumNotRun · 09/09/2025 20:41

@EmpressaurusKitty there is no such thing as too many toys. They can always fit another one in to their pile of ignoring. Although saying that, the ouijamagic still hasn't worn off. Lex had a mad ten minutes earlier trying to kill the worm. This is definitely his favourite ever toy

It might be Kitty’s favourite ever toy too.

Whereas at the moment, Ghostie is having great fun attacking some packing paper in a box. She's been sleeping in there all day but suddenly the paper is alive and must be attacked 😁

Kettle's being cute.

Snap! Snowcat isn’t usually a lap cat so I’m hoping this will be a sign of things to come.

Im regretting wearing black trousers today, though.

Esgaroth · 10/09/2025 09:48

Oh look at that adorable gaze! It's worth a few white hairs on your trousers.

stormsandsunshine · 10/09/2025 11:37

She stayed on my lap for a good hour. Hopefully she has learned that laps are nice.
I had to use the hand hoover on my trousers afterwards, but it was worth it.

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/09/2025 12:20

I was going to say you need to buy more white trousers, but that wouldn’t work with Stripey.

And I’ve bloody lost that pet shop. This is what comes of not going in at the time. Although I found another one & went straight out again when I realised they had birds in cages.

stormsandsunshine · 10/09/2025 12:33

Ironically I was planning to wear white trousers but the weather was so horrific this morning that it felt too summery.

Stripey doesn't shed nearly as much - Snowcat has incredibly dense fur that is lovely to stroke but comes off in clouds over everything. It's just as well that Stripey is less sheddy as she has decided that her favourite place to spend the day is on DH's pillow.

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/09/2025 14:49

Kitty hasn’t sat on my lap yet but she comes for cuddles so maybe one day.

I found that Jolly Cat shop & saw they sold rabbits. 😡 So no. Kitty will have to wait until her Christmas present.

EmpressaurusKitty · 10/09/2025 15:58

My neighbour has just told me she thinks Kitty’s pretending to be nervous in order to be bribed out from under the sofa with Dreamies.

I believe it.

RumNotRun · 10/09/2025 19:41

The cats are disappointed in me. I bought a fancy chicken today from Lidl, cornfed, free range, all that. Got home, put shopping away, told the tribe I'd share the chicken with them later. A few hours later I was thinking about it and realised I didn't remember putting the chicken in the fridge. I've searched everywhere, I must have left it at the checkout!! What a muppet. The poor cats are now having to eat cat food for tea, and have only had some lamb as a treat!

Are you absolutely certain the cats haven’t already taken the chicken somewhere and eaten it?
