How many breakfasts has he had so far?

Kitty’s on her third nap. We had a chat about being nice & polite to her foster mum when she arrives & I could swear I got an eye roll.

We're at a godforsaken hospital, 100 miles from home today.
Had to get up at 06.00 Hmm

Now on our way back, and we're going to find Gizmo, annoyed, on the front step and Linney fast asleep in his cave in our bedroom.

I predict.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 21/08/2025 12:10

Still, it's a day out.
🤣

We took four spam rolls and a flask of tea with us. We've just passed Loch Lomond.

Ooh and DS1 arrived yesterday so as he's just passed his driving test, we've put him on our insurance and he can try out our car later on.

Poor planning there @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneHe could have driven you today, and you and Pa Broon could have sat in the back with your picnic and some champagne (after the hospital!) and pretended he was your chauffeur.

Well, he had a 12 hour journey from London yesterday.
I doubt if he'd have fancied getting up at 06.00 to drive for the very first time since passing his test three months ago.

Not only that, he's only driven a small manual car. Ours is a large automatic.

One of the churches round here is doing a St Francis pet blessing soon. I might go just to watch the chaos. 😁

Oh do go!
And take your seven cats with you.

In one large carrier.
🤣

I took two cats to a pets' service; at the church I sang at at the time, some years ago (a previous cat generation).
I think they were unimpressed. But I knew the vicar didn't particularly like cats so thought I should 🤣

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 21/08/2025 13:58

I'm 'home alone' at present as Mrs G has accompanied DS2 to Tallinn.
Just been sent this photo of an Estonian cat who walked in front of them (while completely ignoring them) 😻

Well, it could have been worse.

Kitty gave her FM a slow blink & a lick, but it was all on condition that FM lay on the floor & talked to her under the sofa.

To my knowledge, he hasn't managed to steal any extra food today 😄

Although DH gave him a little dried fish, which is his absolute favourite, so not a wholly unsuccessful day.

Yes. But I see that it has failed to appear.
I'll try again.

I got an update from my mum who is coming in to feed the cats while we are on holiday.

Snowcat is being quite friendly and has started coming down to say hello to her, and lets her stroke her.

She didn’t see Stripey for days and was starting to wonder if she was still alive. DM then discovered she had a hiding place none of us knew about, in a tiny gap between our bed and DH’s fitted side table, only just wide enough to squeeze your hand in. Apparently Stripey is quite up for a stroke and purrs loudly and offers her belly for a rub when safely wedged in her tiny gap, but if she encounters my mum elsewhere in the house, she howls at her in terror and runs away.

She actually knows my mum quite well as she pops round at least once a week. She is just very unhappy about this change in routine where she is there and we are not.

So they’ll both want to wake you up when you’re back & tell you all about it?

Poor Picasso!
Herbie would have done his best to remove that neckerchief. He never kept a collar on yet in his life!
