Goodbye darling Cheddar.

Am absolutely blindsided. Thought she has pain from Arthritis and had a bad reaction to Gabapentin. Took her to the OOH vet early this morning as she couldn't stand. And they just thought she had severe pain. Then she started fitting. She was referred to Neurology at a specialist hospital. But was too unstable to transfer. She was minimally conscious by the time I got there. But perked up when she saw me.
She was the most amazing, affectionate, cuddly cat you could ever meet. Such a huge personality. I thought we had years left. It'll be weird to be able to eat unmolested and have a bath in peace.

So sorry Toddler, I saw your other thread and have loved reading your tales of Cheddar over the years. A big heart would be perfect ❤️

Toddlerteaplease · 16/04/2024 20:34

A big heart for a big hearted cat. I like that idea.

I've ordered a glass heart for her ashes, when I get them back. Then she can go in the Monty Bojangles tin with Magic & Maia.

that sounds wonderful ❤

I remember your beautiful tin. A heart sounds perfect.

Really missed her today. Yesterday I was at uni so it was a distraction. I'm on nights tonight and she'd always be on the bed with me. Poking and prodding me.

How are you getting on Toddler? I've been thinking of you and your little Cheddar x

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2024 15:13

Still really sad and can't believe she's gone. Although Penelope appears to have taken over the poking and prodding!

Cheddar taught her well!

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2024 17:11

She really did. She used to copy her behaviour, which I found fascinating.

Good that Penelope is giving you some comfort

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2024 17:24

Yep she's been a star. Just wish she'd come and sit on my lap. She's very snuggly but only on the bed.

OP posts:
SevenSeasOfRhye · 18/04/2024 18:00

She may do, given time; she may still see your lap as Cheddar's territory at the moment.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2024 19:59

Hopefully. That would be wonderful. She's turning into a biscuit maker. But bloody hell she has needles on the end of her paws. 🤣 She's such a poppet.

It's very early days but I've enquired about a couple of cats. But bit heard back and the one that's in rescue, the rescue are more interested in how escape proof my garden is. Because she's an ex breeding queen, so dim! Not that I'm an experienced Persian parent. But I'm sure Cheddar will send me a very special cat.

Cheddar will make sure the right cat does not pass you by!

Cailleach1 · 18/04/2024 21:39

So sorry to hear about Cheddar. I hope you find comfort in the fact she was happy. Penelope learning ‘catting’ from her is a nice link.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/04/2024 21:57

Cheddar also taught the late Magic how to cat as well. Which is lovely.

The vet sent me a lovely card, with a packet of poppy seeds in it. I thought that was sweet.

So sorry. I have seen Cheddar on MN many times. She was a treasure. X

That's lovely. Every year when they pop back up you will think of Chedder.

Would also be lovely when they flower that those seeds are saved and passed on to Cheddar Fans so we can spread the love Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 19/04/2024 17:14

@Gatekeeper that sounds a bit ambitious! Gardening is not my forte!

OP posts:
Gatekeeper · 19/04/2024 18:01

Takes no doing. Save seed heads, scrobble for seeds and bobs yer uncle. Save seed heads and I will do the rest in Cheddars memory

Gatekeeper · 19/04/2024 18:02

Or send me send packet of seeds and I will grow on Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 19/04/2024 19:31

I'll try and grow them!
