Goodbye darling Cheddar.

Am absolutely blindsided. Thought she has pain from Arthritis and had a bad reaction to Gabapentin. Took her to the OOH vet early this morning as she couldn't stand. And they just thought she had severe pain. Then she started fitting. She was referred to Neurology at a specialist hospital. But was too unstable to transfer. She was minimally conscious by the time I got there. But perked up when she saw me.
She was the most amazing, affectionate, cuddly cat you could ever meet. Such a huge personality. I thought we had years left. It'll be weird to be able to eat unmolested and have a bath in peace.

So sorry for your loss of Cheddar.

Feel terrible that all the signs were there, that something was neurologically wrong with her. But we just thought it was a bad reaction to Gabapentin. Didn't realise the position she was sitting in was a sign. Just thought she was a bit sore from
Arthritis. But the emergency vet did t spot it at first either.

It is so difficult to diagnose cats.

Yes. Had this with Magic as well. They mask for so long. Still she definitely knew she was loved. She was a very happy little cat. Only a couple of weeks ago, I was worried that she'd stolen the fat off a pork chop and scoffed it before i could stop her. thought it would make her ill. She was always trying.

I rarely post but I loved reading about Cheddar's adventures. I'm so sorry she's gone. She was a real treasure.

@Jolene25 she was an Exotic shorthair. A short haired Persian. She was not as grumpy as she sometimes looked. She's was a fabulous little cat.

How is Penelope, is she coping OK without Cheddar?
