...you really are the love of my life!

I look at my ginger boy, who's an absolute halfwit, and think, I love every hair on that wee body, he really is the love of my life.

DH knows the pecking order in this house 🤣

Currently I would ask my ginger girl to stop snoring. Unfortunately, due to my mental health being shit when she was a kitten, we aren't as close as I would like.
Although, I'm sure her biting me while I'm fussing her is her love language.
She does sleep next to my head at night, so I have to wrap my pillow round my head to muffle the snoring.
I do quite often rest my hand on her, if she's sitting next to me and she's not bothered.
I know that if she wasn't here I would miss her because I've had cats in my life from babyhood.

Seasaltsquall · 02/02/2024 21:16

I could not have loved my last little cat any more or my heart would probably have burst. I adore my dogs but I had an almost spiritual bond with her. I adopted her pregnant mum from a shelter, helped her out of the sac when she was born, so all she knew was me, and she literally lived her best life until she passed age 17. She used to squeeze my hand (fingers) and purr until she fell asleep. Absolute angel. I truly think people who have never loved an animal, simply cannot understand the absolute joy they are missing. RIP Mrs Purryknickers ❤️🐾

Fluffywhitecloudsinthesky · 02/02/2024 21:17

@Caswallonthefox I kind of get that. I love my cat a lot, but when I was struggling mentally, I found the meowing (which is constant, she is a very very noisy cat) too much, the whole thing was just too intrusive. As I've got better, I feel much more positive about her again. I guess we are all different, some people might have loved the comfort but as I shied away from friends and even family, I also shied away from the cat! All is fine now.

A Friend has a Cat who she started out fostering, because he'd been stray for a while and been rescued, and had clearly experienced hunger and abuse. It is vital to Friend that Cat's sense of security is restored, so she treats him like an absolute emperor, with his every need foreseen and catered for. It's very touching to see how attached they are.

Yes! That's it exactly. My favourite thing is seeing my boy slonked on my lap, tummy exposed, snoozing away, not flinching if there's a noise or anything.
It's such a massive change from when he got here when he'd cower if you walked past him too quickly.
I hope he doesn't remember times. I just want him to feel safe & loved for the rest of his days .

I know I sound mega soppy but he is, like others mentioned on this thread, my soul cat.

Fannyfiggs · 02/02/2024 21:40

I'm so sorry to everyone who has lost their cat. They leave such a huge hole in your heart and life. Unfortunately it's the price we pay for love ❤️

Think my cat is the devil incarnate x she is proper nuts lol

chickenpieandchips · 02/02/2024 21:58

My cat is 17ish (stray so not sure exactly). She's getting old. She cuddles up next to me in bed. Every morning I wake up and cuddle her and think
This could be the last day.

Morecatsarebetter · 02/02/2024 22:07

@chickenpieandchips yes! Breathing in the smell of the fur in case the worst happens. X

LumpyKat · 02/02/2024 22:16

I look at my cats and just feel so amazed that these little creatures live in my house with me. I love them. If they are asleep and I walk past them I can’t help but stop and kiss their little heads

JaceLancs · 02/02/2024 22:19

It’s pure love!
I have more pictures of Finlay on my phone than my human nearest and dearest
Exactly same with all previous cats - I just look at the ball of adorableness on my lap or sofa n just melt

JaceLancs · 02/02/2024 22:23

We even hold hands lol or paw n hand

I love kitties and dogs. Don’t currently have a cat, but have often wondered if my DH and I would have survived a couple of rough patches without the giant doofus. My old cat chose me. Everyone including myself thought he was a kitten but he never really grew. He was a tiny, feral orange tiger with the deepest voice you’d ever heard - and no believe whatsoever that personal space applied to him at all. He used to follow me everywhere, including to the supermarket around the corner, and ride in my shoulder like a parrot. This probably had something to do with the fish shop he walked past in both directions. People would think “oh what a cute kitten” and give him some fish which he would growl at with his loud, disproportionately deep voice and re-kill it. He was a bit of a celebrity too. He loved children and was eventually stolen - this person had been cruising our home saying “Here kitty” for weeks.

Oh no! If you know who took him, I hope you get him back: or he runs away from them back to you

BebbanburgIsMine · 02/02/2024 23:20

Yep, this is my ginger boy Pumpkin, he sleeps like this with me every night.

He's such an adorable, friendly, affectionate cat, everyone loves him, he has quite the fan club too with all delivery drivers, posties etc. He runs to the door every time to get bosies.

I read somewhere that when you adopt a cat or Foster a cat from a shelter you should love them so much that they completely forget how life was before 💔♥️ sounds like you and your friend are doing exactly that. It's a beautiful thing to do

Icequeen01 · 02/02/2024 23:50

Love the bones of these two!

TicTac80 · 02/02/2024 23:56

I have four cats and wouldn’t be without them. I’m currently on the sofa with them all sat with me. It’s the BEST feeling! I adore them. (NB I have two kids as well and adore them too).

If I won the jackpot, I’d buy a larger house and surround myself with cats. There’s a house I love that is just around the corner that would be perfect for fitting a large catio (and more cats!) to it. Then I’d go part time and just chill with my cats.

I work FT as a nurse (and I’m a single parent) so I love having my day off in the week, as I can just stay home with the cats and not see anyone. It’s like having a massive de-stress where I can hide from people and flake out!

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 02/02/2024 23:57

All the time. I've been with DCat longer than I've been with any boyfriend.

beetr00 · 03/02/2024 00:02

I am not a cat lover personally, BUT I love to read these threads.

To hear you all waxing lyrical about your beloved furries is joyous 😻
