Does anyone look at their cat and think...

...you really are the love of my life!

I look at my ginger boy, who's an absolute halfwit, and think, I love every hair on that wee body, he really is the love of my life.

DH knows the pecking order in this house 🤣

I cover my cat in a blanket if I think he’s in a draught. I put the heating on for him. I lay further down the bed so that he can sleep on my pillow. I ❤️ him 🐈‍⬛

All of your replies are actually bringing tears to my eyes. You are all wonderful people 💗

Agree with pp. My two eldest oap cats came into my life at a very low and dark point. I often thank them for literally keeping me going day after day. The cat distribution system works in mysterious ways.

Littlecatsfeet · 02/02/2024 16:12

I was just thinking about this today! The angelic sight of my cat sleeping was enough to completely enrapture me and make me forget what I was doing... I love him madly. My heart beats for him ❤️

Morecatsarebetter · 02/02/2024 16:14

🐈‍⬛ he entertained us through lockdown.

user1471548941 · 02/02/2024 16:17

I could have written your post OP about my huge ginger fluffball, right down to the halfwit part…. He sometimes tries to jump with his front legs and forgets the back ones… I ADORE him. He however, adores my DH!

I am equally in love with his brother who is the smartest living thing in the house by a long way, outwits all of us to get at anything edible. And then reaches a paw up to tell you he needs a cuddle… at which point you have to lean over and let him reach his paws round your neck and tuck his head under your chin!

Stripytee · 02/02/2024 16:17

I also love them for the mental health support I think they bring. Just feel as if everything is better when they are around…

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 02/02/2024 16:22

Oh totally. I have ginger brothers and I adore them so much. I never get irritated by them ever, unlike humans.

One is quite aloof but will want to lie on me in the evening. His head must be on my heart and his legs stretch down to my knees. I always fall asleep as he’s like a weighted blanket. The other one is much friendlier and always follows me around but he doesn’t like direct lap sitting. I have to put a cushion on my lap and then he’ll sit on the cushion. He sleeps between my feet or on my pillow.

I recall a few times being out with friends and wanting to text the cat to make sure he was OK.

I absolutely love my number one cat, but one of the things I love is I can go out and he isn’t tapping his foot waiting for me to return.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/02/2024 16:50

Definitely, he was my little furry soulmate. I loved Harry so much and I'm sure I cried more when when we lost him than when my parents died.

A now-deceased cat of ours did use to do this - he knew our routine and days of the week and got very agitated if we all went out on a week night as this was v rare when our DC were young.

One NYE we went round to our neighbours and when we left at about 1am, he was sitting on their front door step waiting for us, basically tapping his watch and saying what time do you think this is on a week night 😆😆

He was a huge character and is still very much missed 😻

EmpressSoleil · 02/02/2024 17:28

I love my two so much. I got them 6 months before lockdown which was a huge relief when it all kicked off. I wfh so am here a lot and we spend a lot of time together. There is nowhere off limits to them so I'll often have one or both sitting on the side of the bath when I'm in it or sitting in the sink when i'm on the loo 😂and they can come and go from my bedroom as they please.

I've realised I'm a nurturer. This was great when my DC were young but they're now adults. It didn't serve me so well in romantic relationships! But it works perfectly with the cats. They want attention lavished on them and I am their willing slave. Except sometimes they do shout at me if I need to do some work or whatever. They're very persistent.

I know totally how you feel - my girls are the light of my life and have got me through some very bad times 😍

That photo of your cats would make a very challenging jigsaw puzzle!

MadCatLady27 · 02/02/2024 17:30

I'm absolutely obsessed with mine, DH even included her in our wedding speech and how much I love her 😂

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/02/2024 17:35

Mammma91 · 02/02/2024 15:42

Absolutely. Currently pregnant with DC2 and all 3 of my cats haven’t left my side in 30 weeks! They even come with me to the bathroom. And they don’t talk back unlike toddler DS and DP! They really are my little best friends.

Are they broken?

All of the cats I've ever had have kept up a constant stream of consciousness about their day, their feelings, what DP is or isn't doing, complaining to him when he opens the front door that they've been terribly neglected since the evil woman got in from work, what the kids were doing, the current state of play between them and the weather/wood pigeons, the frankly inadequate and totally unsatisfactory catering facilities when there are only four bowls of fresh food available, that the fox is back on our bin to walk along our wall, that I'm using the bathroom, asking me what I'm doing - and always, always give me backchat.

It's like having a pair of three year olds in the house for 18 years straight. Especially because the moment there's silence, you know they're up to something and have to go and find them. At which point, they think you want to hear their thoughts on what they were doing before you disturbed them.

Cornishprincess · 02/02/2024 17:37

Totally! Mine extends to my son's cat too. I demand photos and only get them when I send pictures of ours (he's only recently moved out so they were his cats too really).

Plump82 · 02/02/2024 17:43

I actually feel quite emotional when I think about how much I love them. I adore them, and I adore that they adore me. If that makes sense!
I was out for a few hours last night and girl cat acted like I'd abandoned her for days. I don't go out often and my husband was away so they're not often on their own. She practically wrapped herself round my neck. She's a tiny, little thing, with the smallest of paws and softest of hair. Boy cat is equally adoring and I love how when he's on my knee he will every so often look back at me and I'm sure it's his way of checking on me and telling me he loves me. When we snuggle in bed he presses the back of his head to my face for lots of kisses. He pats my nose so I know to move position so he can get prime spot in my arms where he'll sleep all night. It's the best feeling in the world.

Morecatsarebetter · 02/02/2024 17:46

@Plump82 Aaah love this x

LakeTiticaca · 02/02/2024 17:50

Every minute of every day. He is a jet black, sleek lean mean hunting machine who loves to snuggle up and be stroked (don't tell the local rodents) 🤣 I'm not going to post a picture as he charges a fee and I can't afford his rates 😉😉

HowDoTheyGetThroughLife · 02/02/2024 17:54

Yes, I used to look at my boy and feel such a strong love. I adored him. He died a5 months ago and I still cry when I think of him (like now)

cristokitty · 02/02/2024 17:58

Yes. The majority of photos me and DH send to each other are of our cats. Often while we're in the same house. We're just cat people 🤷🏻‍♀️

My current black and white moggie is a sweet cat, of whom I am very fond.
But.... my previous cat, a Siamese, I loved her with every fibre of my being. Now that I'm a mother I realise the love I had for that Siamese was the same power as the love I now have for my daughter. She was exceptional.

Does anyone look at their cat and think...
Nottheeightoutoftencats · 02/02/2024 18:07

My boys were at the vet today for the snip. I can't look them in the eye even though they appear totally unaware of what has happened and have missed the 'they will be drowsy' memo and are tearing around the house in pursuit of their favourite spring.

Oh my god, my little Pixie cat is my best friend. She's the sweetest angel that ever lived. When she cuddles up to me on cold nights in bed I feel like I have everything I need. This is her asking to have some of my clotted cream

I think I'm in love 😻
